Baptist Wedding Ceremony?

During the actual ceremony before the vows, where in the bible does the pastor usually read from? My co-worker told me its something from 1 Corinthians about love. Does anyone know what passage he's talking about?? If not, what did you have read at your wedding? We're meeting with the pastor after church this sunday to go over the ceremony, and i want to know ahead of time what might be spoken at my wedding. so i'd like to do my research. thank you for your answers!

  1. he's talking about 1 Corinthians 13. thats the chapter about love. just pic a version of the bible that you like it would sound better for u. some say love some say charity. that's the known book about love in the Bible u can also use the text about man leaving his parents and cleavign to his wife and they become one
  2. I Corinthians 13:4-8, & 13 4 Love is patient, love is kind. It is not jealous, (love) is not pompous, it is not inflated, 5 it is not rude, it does not seek its own interests, it is not quick-tempered, it does not brood over injury, 6 it does not rejoice over wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth. 7 It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 8 Love never fails. 13 So faith, hope, love remain, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
  3. I know we had that read at our wedding, but honestly, I don't remember what else was said, besides the vows.
  4. This is what we had at our wedding: The word of God in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 tells us what love is like and what love does: “Love is patient, love is kind, and is not jealous; Love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love… Never… Fails. Hope this helps!
  5. The traditional “Marriage vows” are not exactly in the bible. The traditional vows were written based on what is said in the Bible concerning marriage from Ephesians, Corinthians, and Romans. 6. Corinthians 13 - Love is patient, love is kind.... We did use that for our wedding, and it's beautiful!
  7. The other answers are correct about that passage; sometimes they even read that whole chapter. There is another that I like that says"Set me as a seal upon your heart; as a seal upon your arm, for love is strong as death...... Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it."
