I need help with accessories for my wedding gown. Photos included?

Okay, so I'm getting married on 08-23-08. I have my gown selected but I need some advice/suggestions. For starters, here's the gown: http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk272/darker_grey/CourtGown3.jpg http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk272/darker_grey/CourtGown2.jpg http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk272/darker_grey/CourtGown.jpg 1) Jewlery.... I have no idea what to pair with the gown. Any suggestions on necklaces/earrings ect would be MUCH appreciated 2) Veil.... should I wear one? How long should it be if I do? If I do wear one, the trim will be the same as the piping on the gown. 3) Hair... I'm totally useless with my hair. I almost always wear it down and straight or in a pony tail. I'm going to a salon to get it done the day of the wedding, but I have no idea how I should style it. Again, suggestions MUCH appreciated. Thanks!!! Chrissy P: rock on with the flip flops! I already have a black 2 3/4" pair to wear, you read my mind! Suicide girls? Haha... that's funny you mention that, I'm actually in the process of applying to model with them full time. So NOT an emo though. Rock-punk :) nova_queen: I found it in Ottawa, at a place called Yen's Bridal on Wellington. I noticed it one day on my way home from work. My gown was actually the first one I tried on, PLUS I got it on sale! It was $1200, but I got it for $900 Haha, thanks Quest, you rock buddy!

  1. Sorry, but no idea for jewlery. The veil, becuase of the blac and white on the dress, should be black. And hair should be up (if veil is used)
  2. I. Your dress is so unique that I would like to see onyx to pair up with the gown. I think that would be very pretty, as long as it's done in good taste. Almost like something along these lines: http://images.google.com/images?gbv=2&hl=en&q=onyx+jewelry II. Veils are very classic. That's completely up to you, I think it would be beautiful if you had one with the piping to match the gown. I think the length should be similar to the hair pic below. III. I think your hair would look great in a formal up-do, like this: http://www.bridalfashionmall.com/images/satin-2.jpg Good luck and congrats! =)
  3. earrings (not posts) - no necklace - hair up - yes to the veil....med length - one that clips to the back of your hair and runs down the back but you will have to try on the veils with the dress so you can decid
  4. Cool gown. I think for any jewelry to even be noticed, it would have to be black jewelry...nothing too delicate. Your hair should probably be up. You don't want your dark hair to take away from the dark accents on your gown. I might skip the veil with that dress...there is a lot going on. But just try a simple veil on and see what you think.
  5. i would look into black pearls, i think they would compliment the dress nicely. for your hair maybe do a partial updo and add some body to it. on your wedding day you still want to look like yourself only fancier. did you try a veil on to see if you like it. i wore mine pined under my hair and didn't cover my face, i think you should consider that. i think if you do it should only be to about the waist. i know that when i put the veil on on my wedding day i got a little nervous. i think that was the symbol that it was for real for me. good job for picking out something that is more original, i love personal touches and it looks like the dress is one.
  6. oooh i like your dress its very pretty and im all about color in a dress (mine has blue in it) 1. jewelry: doesnt have to be something extremely expensive, i would get something simple like they have at www.allcostumejewelry.com 2. if you are doing an updo i would recommend a veil, get whatever size you feel comfortable with, i think elbow-length ones are pretty good, any longer and i feel like they get in the way. 3. try to go to a website where you can choose your hair length and look through updos, if you always wear it down do something different and wear it up!
  7. http://www.emitations.com/bljetje.html Very Beautiful Dress! Its unique:)
  8. I like this necklace and earing set with your dress... http://www.davidsbridal.com/accessory_detail.jsp?stid=3029&prodgroup=164 I wouldn't wear a veil, it's kind of old fashioned to me... but that's just me. Your dress is VERY pretty by the way. I think if you normally wear your hair simple that you should be yourself for your wedding... I might put it half up with something simple balck and sparkley in it. A great jewelry website in www.sammoon.com and www.davidsbridal.com has a lot of great ideas!!!
  9. First of all, I LOVE your dress! Here are some suggestions: I LOVE the idea of a veil with matching trim! It's so modern, and it would really pull the look together. Most brides take it off for the reception, so if it costs a lot, you might consider having one made cheaper, or skipping it if you're on a really tight budget, but I do think it would look very pretty! For accessories, I would go with diamonds or pearls. If you want to be more modern, diamonds, for a softer look, pearls. You can rent jewelry from www.adornbrides.com, and there are other web sites too. You can also check out ebay-(that's where I'm getting my accessories; they have great deals on swavorski crystal stuff!). Your dress does not look like classic princess, more like modern beauty, so I would skip a tiara, and opt for a rhinestone headband. You can wear your hair up or down with the headband. Also, play with your hair and take pics before the date. Decide if you like it better up or down, and get the opinion of others. For a more elegant look, wear it up-(you have a very pretty face, and it would look nice.) For a more romantic look, wear it down with loose curls. If you do it up, don't slick it back too tight. The looser look is usually prettier. Do a trial run with your hair stylist. She will know what will flatter you the most. And for shoes, you might want to consider adding platform flip-flops to your ensemble. If you want, wear nice shoes for the wedding, and get the flip-flops for the reception- your feet will thank you. You can get anything you need off ebay, or go to www.theknot.com for more stuff. Good luck! I'm sure you will look BEAUTIFUL!!!
  10. 1) ask to borrow friends or family's, neck lace or a simple pair of peal earrings, something borrowed 2) veil..simple and sweet, you can pick a simple plain one up at walmart for cheep and if it doesn't look or feel right, you are not out a lot of money 3) hair...up if you don't like messing with it. you can always go for a pracitce updo before your big day, keep in mind no two hair do's are always the same thing the 2nd time.
  11. I think hair should be simple and not to fuffy as you dont seem like a fuffy person, if you do want it up i would suggest a simple chignon, kind like this http://i.ivillage.com/BS/i/festive_hairstyle/524_ss.jpg as for Jewlery, that dress may go well with a simple choker and a pair of drop earring, keep it simple because the dress has so much detial. I like the idea of a veil with piping, you can always do a shorter veil and pin it under your hair style instead of resting on the top of your head...
  12. OMG! I *LOVE* your dress. It is beautiful!! Because it is so fancy, I think you should keep your jewelry to a minimum. Here is a cute necklace - its not cheap, but note it is 14k gold - - http://www.qvc.com/qic/qvcapp.aspx/view.2/app.detail/walk.yah.1001~K745 Some cute leverback dangly earrings would be nice, too, something like this: http://www.qvc.com/qic/qvcapp.aspx/view.2/app.detail/walk.yah.1001~K745 2 I'm not good at helping too much. A veil would only really be worn during the ceremony so you can do without it if you like. 3 - I would pull your hair up if you can. I just think you would want to show off as much of that beautiful detailing on the dress as you can. Just my 2-cents. I *LOVE* that dress. Where did you find it???
  13. First your dress is really beautiful and because it has such nice detail I would not want to over do it with your accessories. 1. Jewlery: I think something simple would be best. Maybe something simple and silver. I don't think you want to over accessorize so I think a simple necklace and pair of earings would work best. If you are religious you could wear a cross if not below are a couple suggestions (they are costly but I'm sure you can find something similar in a costume jewlery store) If you wear one of the below necklaces maybe some stud earings diamond or silver studs. http://www.kay.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product1|10101|10001|-1|171590502|priDiamond|15054.15081.15300 http://www.kay.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product1|10101|10001|-1|502054000|15054|15054.15082.15316 http://www.kay.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product1|10101|10001|-1|711995504|priDiamond|15054.15081.15300 2. Veil: Depends on your personality however If you do wear a veil I would only wear one that goes to your elbows to show off the detail at the back of your dress. Then you could always take it off for the reception. I don't know abouth the piping being black. If you can find it it would be a nice tie in however it would be most simple to have it with no embelishments. 3. Hair: I would reccomend having a sit-down with a salon and trying a couple diffrent things one up and one down. and see how you are more comfortable. Since you often wear it in a pony tail you might be more comfortable having it off your neck when you are dancing and having fun. I think it would again also help to have it up so you can draw attention to the detailing on the back of the dress.
  14. For your jewlery have you thought of pearls, or diamonds. They pretty much go with anything. or what about opals? ill show pics ok. Not saying you have to go with these..but ill just show pics of that they look like. and you can get an idea. you could also do your birthstone. http://www.kay.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryProductsView?storeId=10101&catalogId=10001&langId=-1&topCatId=15053&categoryId=15200&bcCatIds=15053.15072.15200&N=0&Ne=1&Ntk=Category&Ntt=15200 http://www.kay.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product1%7C10101%7C10001%7C-1%7C371999400%7C15053%7C15053.15072.15200 http://www.zales.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2939895&cp=2071132.2109139&cp=2071132&fbn=Stone+Type%7COpal&f=PAD%2FStone+Type%2FOpal&fbc=1&categoryId=2109139&parentPage=search&searchId=25713470963 http://www.zales.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2924823&cp=2071132.2109139&cp=2071132&fbn=Stone+Type%7COnyx&f=PAD%2FStone+Type%2FOnyx&fbc=1&categoryId=2109139&parentPage=search&searchId=25713482743 http://www.zales.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2569048&cp=2071132.2109139&cp=2071132&fbn=Stone+Type%7CJade&f=PAD%2FStone+Type%2FJade&fbc=1&categoryId=2109139&parentPage=search&searchId=25713514313 http://www.tiffany.com/Shopping/Item.aspx?sku=23461994&mcat=148204&cid=288154&search_params=s+5-p+1-c+288154-r+101287465+101323352-x+-n+6-ri+-ni+0-t+ those are just some ideas on jewerly. as for veils, if you want to wear one you can, im sure you can get something from the store you baught your dress. hair styles, my best advise would to be to look on line, see if you find anything that you like, and if you want to wear your hair down, since you normally do wear it in big loose curls.
  15. kudos to the girl who said onix! onix jewelry or a cz and onix combo would look very cute.As far as hair goes get it done at a salon in a half up half down do, u can even make it something funky but chic so it goes with ur whole "emo or suicide girl" look. I think ur going to look awesome, have u checked out Gwen Stefani's wedding pics, she was not very traditional she was very rocker chick but also very glam.
  16. How beautiful! I love that you can see the embroidery, because usually white on white embroidery just disappears. 1. Jewelry: choose a choker style necklace, with a sleek elegant design. You don't want it to compete with the dress, and non-choker styles will interfere with the gown's neckline. I would opt for rhinestones/diamonds/crystals as there are some on your gown; onyx can be beautiful but would over-emphasize the black accents already present. Choose dangling or drop earrings that match the stone you use in the choker. For example: http://www.2die4jewels.com/images/ears/wht%20(16).JPG 2. You don't need a veil, but if you do, I like your idea for trim. 3. Definitely an updo of any kind will look great. Think clean lines, and non-fussy, as that is your usual style. Even a formalized ponytail can be cute. http://images.della.com/images/slideshows06/hair/btf_updo_300.jpg http://www.shop4prom.com/gallery/data/512/9_jr_back.jpg Have fun!
  17. you're rockin that dress girl, good choice. love the tats too. no veil, forget that antiquated thing. find a hair mag at your local drugstore and find some celebrity hairdo's. make sure and have a run-thru with your salon like a month before the wedding so you can make sure they know how to do the style you want, and you know how much time it'll take the day of the wedding.
  18. Look for Onyx (black) jewelry with nature inspired designs that match your gown. Here are a few examples: http://overstockjeweler.com/caeinjeoncrf.html http://www.overstock.com/Jewelry-Watches/Silver-Marcasite-and-Onyx-Locket-Heart-Pendant/753913/product.html http://www.overstock.com/Jewelry-Watches/Onyx-Cubic-Zirconia-Earrings/2581349/product.html http://www.overstock.com/Jewelry-Watches/Sterling-Silver-Marcasite-and-Onyx-Circle-Pendant/1926515/product.html http://www.overstock.com/Jewelry-Watches/Sterling-Silver-Black-Onyx-Drop-Necklace/3038089/product.html I don't think you will find a veil in with any piping other than white. That would still pick up on your dress' style. Since you have a long train you can get away with a long veil - pick anything from elbow length to cathedral. I think a dramatic dress like yours would look better if you wear your hair up, but do whatever you are more comfortable with. I used to have a lip ring too, but I suggest you take it out on your special day. You will probably get tired of it one day and be glad it's not in your wedding photos. Good luck!
  19. I don't know a thing about weddings or accessories, but that gown is awesome..... CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
  20. Definitely a pair of dramatic all black chandelier earrings. Something like these: http://mitsumicarissa.com/pb/wp_1cdbd097/images/img2411745c930e070377.jpg but even better if they were bigger/more unique/ more dramatic. Don't even bother with the veil, just make a grand statement with the earrings. Also, you don't need a necklace because there is lots of black detail at the top of your dress. A necklace and veil would compete with the dress and your tatts. whereas the earrings would compliment everything. Have your hair up in an elegant yet messy/funky updo (don't let them do curls! Something like this http://www.myweddingflowerideas.co.uk/wedding_hair_flowers/wedding_hair_style_10_e.jpg would look great on you), and add a few smaller black barettes that match the earrings. Just as a nice detail....keep them small-ish so they don't compete with the dress or earrings. And I know you didn't ask about shoes, but a great pair of sexy black heals would be so chic.
  21. not sure if you want to play up, or down the black thing here, but i am very goth and if this were me i would be looking at wearing a necklace made from jet, its a hard black fossilized stone this necklace isnt made from jet, but its the sort of thing i would wear with this dress http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BLACK-VICTORIAN-CHOKER-NECKLACE-Gothic-Goth-Rock-NEW_W0QQitemZ140220165418QQihZ004QQcategoryZ58546QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem hair i would be looking for an up do, but would want lots of small curls coming down and i would not wear a veil since i would be kinda non traditional, i would wear something like one of these http://www.larp-fashion.de/shop/tiara-silver-p-678.html click to enlarge the pic on the right these would be want off beam if you are wanting to lean to the more traditional though
