Wedding Accessories and Under garnments?
I have purchased a ivory Cinderella type ball gown. It is very elegant and beautiful. It is a little heavy and has a small train. Is it necessary to wear one of those slips underneath of the gown? Forgot to mention that I ordered the gown and tried it on in the bridal shop without a slip, so I didn't know what it would look like with the slip on. But it will be several weeks before my actual gown is delivered.

- Most brides I know have gotten rid of the slips.. Actually...get rid of slips in general LOL. Good luck
- I had to wear a slip to maintain the shape of my a-line skirt... most wedding dresses need a slip...
- I'm pro-slip myself because I think they make wearing dresses for hours and hours much more comfortable. Plus, you're not sweating all over the inside of your dress.
- The slip just fills the dress out better. That is your choice, if it looks good without it then I say ditch it!
- what are slips? Just normal underwear should be fine.
- They say you should wear a slip for two reasons: 1) it helps from letting the dress slide between your legs when walking. You may think it won't happen to you, but it's pretty common. 2) It helps keep the shape of your dress & because you are wearing a cinderalla dress, you are going to want a slip that helps keep the "poof."
- The slip or petticoat is designed so that the dress will fill out better...especially from behind. But, since you have ball gown I don't think that one will really be necessary. The best way to know is to try them on with your gown. I was completely against the idea; then the lady doing my alternations made me try it on and i am glad she did. Made a big difference, especially the way my dress fell from behind...but, my dress was a simple a-line, not a ballgown.
- I married 6 months ago, similar kind of dress, and never had a slip, as I thought it looked too starched. My dressmaker advised that it wasnt so fashionable anymore to be like that, and the dress flowed far better, and forget cinderella, you will be the belle of the ball all day and night. xoxo
- The slip will give the dress better shape and help with comfort. But totally your choice.
- The slip is pretty good for adding more body to the dress, it really has no other purpose. If you try it on again, ask them if you can borrow a slip to try on with it. If you believe that it looks lovelier without it or that there is no real change in how it looks, then it's perfectly fine to go without it and it's one less thing you have to hassle with on your wedding day.
