Are there any wedding chapels in South Korea? Or places you can go to and get married that same day?

  1. If you mean places like the have in Las Vegas, no. Marriage in Korea is a civil procedure, so a religious ceremony, while often more meaningful, does not create a legal marriage. You pay a few bucks, sign some paperwork and it's done...easier than buying a car. The religious ceremony means nothing without the civil part. However, if you are looking for a location to get married, Korea has THOUSANDS of wedding halls and some of the luxury hotels have wedding services. If you are American and intend to get married, you need to go to the US embassy so that they can help you fill out the necessary paperwork as you will be getting married under Korean law; not US law. http://seoul.usembassy.gov/wwwh2510.html
  2. Very good answer by Archangel (and, needless to say, crazy answer by Ichiro Suzuki). I just wanted to add some information about the wedding halls that Archangel mentioned. These are where the great majority of Koreans get married. They are basically wedding factories, with several weddings going on simultaneously throughout the day. To get married in a wedding hall, you first have a consultation with a planner. The planner(s) help you every step of the way. The hall takes care of every detail of the wedding, including photography, videography, food (which consists of a buffet, often served in a designated area of the same building), decorations and music (no creative liberty there BTW), the Korean traditional ceremony afterwards, and even the gown and tux. About a month before the wedding, you go in for a photo shoot (in addition to photos taken on the actual wedding day), where you will take pictures with a variety of backdrops and in a variety of different gowns (also provided, and shared by all clients). Wedding halls are usually booked up well in advance, and they are very rigid in their system, so I highly doubt you could get married the same day or even as soon as a month after booking. Good luck! ;)
  3. Is that a question...? seriously..?
