Awesome inexpensive wedding decorations for a black & white theme?
I am getting married & my colors are black & white. I don't want to break the bank on this wedding & reception so I am looking for anyone who has ideas & suggestions for "homemade" wedding decorations .... or if you have any suggestions on how to use the colors. We are planning an outdoor September wedding. If you have any really cheap websites for decor, that'd be useful as well!

- Have all the black people and white people stand on either sides of the room. LOL I don't know....
- I found some chinese paper lanterns at a local craft store. Then I tied some decorating crystals to the bottoms with monofilament line and hung them in the trees at our outdoor wedding, and over the dance floor with battery-operated lights at our reception. Our guests commented on what a whimsical and unexpected touch it was! And it was SO cheap! The lanterns were a dollar each, the package of battery-operated lights was like $4 and the crystals were $4 for a package. The monofilament I bought in the fishing section at walmart, and I probably only used 1/4 of the roll, but it was only like $1.50
- Use fake flowers as opposed to real ones wherever possible! They are cheaper and look the same. As far as centerpieces go, mine came from the Dollar Tree. I had a silver reflective tray with a fishbowl on top that contained a floating candle. And I put a single calla lily on the tray beside the bowl. They were beautiful, easy to make, and very inexpensive! You could also use ribbons throughout your reception area to decorate. Spools are pretty cheap, and with those two colors they won't be hard to find. Congratulations and good luck!
- How about getting several sets of dominos or a bunch of dice? They can be scattered around small vases, which you can pick up at the dollar store or at a store like Garden Ridge. Then in the vases you could have something like a single white lily. Fabric stores generally have different types of ribbon, which may include black and white checkered ribbon that you could use to tie around the vases perhaps. Otherwise you'd probably be able to find the ribbon in bulk somewhere online.

- Go to theknot.com and or the wedding channel on the internet. There is a ton of ideas and even some free stuff you can get like a planner.
- You could go with a zen black & white look inexpensively. Fill fishbowls with polished black & white stones and a floating candle and place on a tatami mat (like, the kind for sushi). Hang japanese paper lanterns. Or, a very hot look if you don't mind DIY is to make some simple arrangements of white and ivory flowers (white roses, hydrangea, mums, get these from an online wholesaler or Sams Club type place). Place these in square glass vases and either cover the vases in black & white damask fabric (VERY chic) or hot glue or tape a belt of black ribbon with a rhinestone buckle around the vases.
- My wedding was black and white with red accent - I had minimal decorations at the wedding ceremony, it was outdoors in a gazebo at a park and handily came well stocked with flowers. My grandmother in law made aisle bows for the first four rows of chairs out of tulle and those pull bows you can buy for packages. I bought red and white flowered garland half price from Hobby Lobby (like $3 a piece for four 10 feet strings) and had it twisted around the two front pillars and then had red lantern lights strung in between. At the reception I had white linens (that came with the venue) and then bought black and white patterned and mismatched fabric from a fabric store for really cheap on top to accent it. My centerpieces were tall hurricane vases that I rented for $1 per table and filled them with apples on top of mirrors and surrounded by candles I bought at the dollar store. We also bought bags of those Hershey Nugget chocolates and printed our name and date on small mailing labels and stuck them to the outside of the wrapper, just like what you would order, and put them on tables for favors. Another good tip Target has that dollar area in the front of the store and in April the have TONS of wedding stuff for really cheap.
