How do I calculate costs for DIY wedding flowers?

I'm planning on creating my own flower arrangements for my wedding but I'm running into issues when I try to calculate costs. I have no idea how many flowers I need for the arrangements. Does anyone have any suggestions for ways I can calculate this ahead of time? Or know of a book or website that will give me some instructions? Thanks!

1. 1. Figure out exactly what you want to do. How many centerpieces do you need? How many boquets? What do you want these to look like and what flowers do you want to use? The more information you have the closer your estimate will be. 2. Go to a couple flower wholesalers (or look online) and using the info from above start o piece it together yourself. 3. Ask the employees of the flower vendors what their estimate would be, or how many flowers do they think that you need. Take their estimate into consideration. After you put all this together you should have a decent idea of cost. :)
2. Do a trial run or just go to a florist to find out how much each flower you want in the arrangement is.
3. I'm also doing DIY flowers. I've already done up a sample centerpiece. You need to keep in mind the vase you plan on using, the type of flowers you're using, and how many bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages, centerpieces you plan on doing. I would go to Fifty-Flowers (online) and speak with a live representative. I'm using carnations and roses in my centerpieces with 15 roses and 15 carnations in each one. I'll also add in some baby's breath to each. I have 16 tables, but if you use Fifty-Flowers, they have very good prices and the flowers come to you fresher than if you got them from a florist. I'm also doing my flowers for my wedding and i'm buying my flowers at wholesale-wedding-flowers.com (for reference for you maybe the flowers will be cheaper for you). and what i'm planning to do is to a sample of the centerpieces before I actually buy the flowers wholesale and from there I will have an idea of how much flowers I actually have to buy.
5. Do a trial run. Make one of each item you plan to make for the wedding. Calculate the cost for one and multiply by the number you'll need.
