How do I have an electric guitar and microphone at a wedding ceremony without power outlets?

I am having a wedding ceremony on the beach where there is no electricity available. I would like to have an electric guitar and a microphone to perform a song to approximately 100 guests.

  1. Have you figured out by now that this might not be the brilliant idea it started as?
  2. they do have amps that run off of a recharable battery pack.
  3. It's easy! Obviously with no electricity available there only use would be props... Seriously though, there are 'battery' powered amps that you can buy but typically they're very small, clip to your waist, and sound really really bad. The most practical way I can think of to get quiet remote power would be to use a large car battery, and a power inverter. If you're only planning on doing a song or two, a standard automotive car battery should have plenty of juice if it's charged. An 800 W power inverter to power any necessary amps can be had for around $20-$40. It really depends on how much equipment you need to power. I'm also assuming a generator is out of the question as they make far too much noise.
  4. An incredibly long extension cord? But seriously... could it possibly be saved for the reception assuming it's not also on the beach? Best bet is to rock it acoustic.
  5. is not going work on the beach unless there are electric outlets nearby
  6. I went to a wedding yesterday that was 10 miles from the nearest power and they had a sound system set up. They put a generator a good distance away and put a improv sound shield around it. You couldn't hear it at all except for a faint hum.
