pink/orange/black wedding theme?

i'm curious to know what everyone thinks of a pink, orange & black wedding theme. i was thinking.. - simple, elegant, black bridesmaids dresses. - pink & orange bouquets. - pink & orange colored drinks. i'm stuck with chair covers & table linens. i don't want it to look like a halloween theme as it's going to be in the summer. i was thinking black table cloths & chair covers with pink bows & orange table linens. i'm also stuck on the cake.. ideas would be helpful.. thanks much, xxoo to avoid the halloween look i was advised to use a soft yellow, however i'm not convinced enough. orange or yellow? :)

  1. For the table linens, use pink instead of orange to avoid the Halloween look, you can use the orange for the bows and such. I think it would look really lovely though, it makes me think of two things, those large rainbow lollipops you can get at amusement parks and harvest seasons/fall. For the cake, maybe try one with chocolate frosting and then have the orange and pink be decorations, like polka dots or diamonds? --Edit-- Orange or yellow? Depends on what shade you were planning on using of the orange. Soft yellows can appear to be too easter-y and may look odd with the black, a lot like a bumble bee. If you use an orange-red color or a lighter orange, that would still look very nice and go well with the pink. It can also tone down the Halloween appearance.
  2. As long as they're not neon. For the cake have 3 tiers covered in white fondant with the base of each tier covered with a 1/2 in. black ribbon and either pink and orange flowers painted on with edible paint or real flowers.
  3. cool theme, sounds really nice. i reckon gerberas for flowers would be really cool, you can get some beautiful pink and orange varieties and they're really funky. i like your idea for the tables and chairs. except why don't you try alternating between pink and orange? so have all the tables cloths and chair covers black, but have one table orange bows and table linens with pink table decorations, then the next table pink bows and table linens with orange table decorations. i've seen something similar done before but with different colours and it looked really effective.
  4. id go with a light orange. kind of a mix between to two colors. as long as its not bright orange and you are careful how you put the two together i think i can work (my wedding is a dark bluish teal (the dresses are that color) and a bright orange (the flowers and such will be a bight/dark orange). i love the contrast.
  5. use the black as an accent..... that way your focus remains with the brighter colors.... black ties around the bouquets.... black table mats on the table linens ...... best of luck..... the quality time you have with family and friends is what matters the most.
  6. At first I thought no. But after hearing that it's more pink and orange but black say for the tuxes and little additions should be real nice. The cake could be pink with orange flowers and black fancy lines just in the background. It may be hard to find a pink and orange cumber bun and tie for the guys...hope this helps. i just got married - the best advise I got so I wouldn't stress is to remember at the end of the day no matter how good or bad things go your still going to be married to your Love. My wedding seemed a mess all the way up to me being late and it was like a perfect dream come true - we didn't spend much but it was such an awesome day for both of us and all my man and i could do is smile all night...Good luck and God bless you both.
  7. pink, orange and black sounds good as long as the orange isn't obnocious. maybe a pastel orange with a bright pink. for a cake i found this very nice cake on brides.com it is different shades of orange. it would be great for your colors. the link is below. if your looking for other color opinions i think that orange, pink and white would look nice.
  8. white fondant cake, pink and orange roses, black silk ribbon at the base of each tier and possibly a monogram cake topper using black, clear, pink and orange crytals...
  9. very nice!! love the colours! what about black table cloths, pink chair covers with black bows and the same colour pink napkins and a sheer orange organza table runner or orange table cloths, black chair covers, orange bows that are the same colour as table cloth, a black table runner, black napkins and pink flowers on the table or pink table cloth, pink chair covers, orange bows and orange napkins, black wrought iron candle holders with orange and pink candles in. cake there are so many diferent ways to decorate cakes now. pink fondant icing, with orange with a black thin strip criss crossed across it have a look in bridal mags and go to cake shops to discuss ideas with them. they are very helpful and creative

  11. Some ideas http://liweddings.com/chat/topic-493915-1.html
  12. do white or cream table clothes with pink napkins keep the black to a minimum and stick mostly to pink and orange decor maybe doa dark chocolate brown instead of black to get away from the halloween idea cake http://www.hj-weddingcakes.co.uk/images/weddingcake-76.jpg http://www.rentafakecake.com/gumpastegerberbutterflywedding%20kit.jpg and make it choclolate for a dark center to pull the color in
  13. Any combination of colors works if it's done right. Be selective about where you place the orange and black together, and that's about it! As far as cakes go, I would only use black fondant accents if you choose to use black. Black icing, if used too much, can stain people's mouths, as well as stick in their teeth. Scary! I would alternate pink and orange table linens, and use black chair covers. The tables will absolutely pop! I wouldn't layer orange linens over black. Another idea that my company uses often is to criss-cross sashes on the tables.....like an orange table will have pink sashes over the the top, in a cross. Believe me, it looks really cool! And it's really cheap to rent the sashes from a linen company.
