a wedding for under a $1,000?

We would like to get married this fall, we have a very limited budget. I would like to plan our wedding for $1,000 or less. I have been trying to do research on thrifty weddings but i seem to be finding the same suggestions over and over and am really looking for more detailed abd unique ideas. my best friend is making my dress wich will save us a bundle, we and our friends wil be doing most if not all of the cooking and the cake. I will be making the invites with nice stationary and computer programs. We want a small wedding, personal to our close friends and family. we want kind of a hippi wedding on the beach, something romantic and comfortable. The largest cost i believe will be the photographer and the rings and any permits we need. I want atleast a simi professional photographer although i plan on putting the album together myself. I was thinking bubbles or flower pettles in lou of bird seed. any idea for a low cost special honeymoon would also b great! thanks!

  2. http://www.favorwarehouse.com/?gclid=CNrRnfDimJMCFQgKGgod3g1Svw I got alot of stuff I used for our wedding here.. And if you don't want to buy chairs and stuff you should def. have people bring throw blankets and sit on the beach while you get married and do like a picnic there.
  3. Ask relatives to donate food ..like salads and so on see if you know someone who is good at photos in the family.. rings get at walmart if you have one (under 200 for gold bands YOU can have engraved inside) OR check pawnshops GO TO THE DOLLAR STORE they have awesome silk flowers there..if you are having a hippiewedding why not do flower seeds?? this way you are giving BACK to the earth honeymoon find some place close to home within 50 miles..check out local things to do there and stay two nights in a cheap motel... We have a budget of 1500 so I know the feeling I am making our cake as I decorate..making the flowers..I found a dress I like for 100 bucks and it was 500! LOL...my doctor who I am friends with is taking our wedding photos as she has a photostudio and this is her gift to us remember you can get a judge to marry you for pretty cheap to AS long as it is not on court dates!! best wishes!
  4. I was the minister at a recent wedding and the entire thing was done in a church for about $1500. It depends on the state you will be getting married in but the license will be around $60. A minister will usually charge $150-400. (it was my nephew so I didn't charge them) Flowers can be cut from family gardens. Food is easy to do for under $100. Cake can be made for under $100. Go to the colleges and ask in the photography classes if there is a student that needs to work on their portfolio. What beach? Most are OK to hold a wedding but many will actually charge you. You can play on the beach for free but a wedding they charge for (which is stupid). Also, look on Craigslist for things you need for the wedding. You can also ask on freecycle http://freecycle.org for items for free. hope that helped
  5. theknot.com has some excellent ideas...I am trying to plan a cheap wedding as well...Good luck & congrats! :)
  6. I know weddings can be done for under $1000 if you have certain factors in place, such as not having to rent a venue. In your scenario: Is the beach either at a beach house of someone you know or a beach park with a very low rental fee? Is there adequate parking? Do you need to rent chairs? And re. photography: Professional photography easily runs well over $1000. Many require that they do the album and some won't release the negatives. Check ahead of time. Perhaps you can get a photography student interested in building a portfolio? You will definitely want decent wedding pictures! Think EVERY aspect of your wedding thru ahead of time. Plot all costs on a spreadsheet ahead of time. A helpful website: http://www.budget-bride.com/

  8. My wedding cost less then a $1,000. But my wedding day was a disaster!!!!! Remember budget and guest list.. keep the guest list small as possible. Just keep it immediate family only, and a few very close friends. Dont bother with favors as these are usually thrown away. Make your own invitations. I made mine on the computer at home. I went online, found what I liked, plagarized a bit, messed with the script a bit.. and Voila... $15.00 for paper, and envelopes. Don't bother with flower as these are only used for one day. Get all of your plates, cups, and cuttlery at the dollar store. thats all I can think of for right now. Good luck to you. :)
  9. Ebay, dollar store, payless, target, micheals! We are getting married in Sept. We used postcards from the area we live for "save the dates". We printed the invites on a kit from Ebay!, Most of out decor from ebay. Music is on a cd player (or your Ipod). No music for the wedding itself. (easy with a beach wedding, we are getting on a fishing pier!) Favors are bags of carmel popcorn from a local store. Afternoon wedding cuts major food costs. HorDorves from Sams, Costo, and some family members who want to make something. Cake from the local grocery store with finding things on ebay to display it well. I am scouring the thrift store for silver platters to put the Hordoreves on. (finding lots for $2-3. Just need to get out silver polish a few days before! but its a nicer touch than tin trays). No flowers except a "bouquet" of sorts from the grocery store. The female guests will each be given a flower to give me as I walk down the "asile". Wa are doing the usual throw away cameras at the wedding but have 2 people assigned to do the more "formal" shots. There is usually a larger city near where you live (or at least in a few hours away.) Even though you have been there shopping or whatever, have you ever been a tourist there? Have fun exploring some of the tourist stuff. (We are near Charleston SC which for us is great cause we never have done any of the tons of tourist stuff there!) I am having alot of fun being creative with planning a wedding for hopefully less than $1000. Hope you do too!
