Where can I get a good formal font for my wedding invitations?

I would like to get it as a free download: this wedding is costing me and my parents too much as it is! Does anyone know of a good formal font I can download that won't be TOO loopy? My fiance has a III at the end of his name and most of the fonts I can find make that look retarded.

  1. I can't tell you a font, but I can tell you a cheep progrom to use that come with 150 differnt fonts. I used it to make my wedding invites and thank you cards. SAVED ME $500. Print Workshop 2007 for $30 at wal-mart good luck
  2. www.1001fonts.com They have tons of fonts divided up by category like romantic, handwritten etc. Just browse through and it shows the font name written in the actual font so you can see a preview of what it looks like. They have windows and about half are converted so they can be downloaded for Mac too. Its almost impossible to reccomend a specific font without seeing your invite design. Michaelmas is very pretty and easy to read and available for both PC and Mac? Perhaps My Dearest Joe if you wanted something more handwritten. Also available for both.
  3. for research, try www.myfonts.com. you can enter your names and sample how it looks in different typestyles. thenautigal and waterbrush both look nice with the III, but there is a fee for download. after you find some that you like, try www.dafont.com -- lots of free options for download. try using a different font for the III. For example, you can do your names in one script font and change the III to a similar non-script font in italics.
  4. search free fonts in google and youll come up with heaps of different choices
