I am making a display wedding cake and need "fake frosting" to make it last longer. Any recipes?

- Spray a regular wedding cake with Hairspray and the cake will harden and will last 4-5 years.
- Royal icing, which contains powdered sugar, egg whites, and a little lemon juice for whitening. Whip it to a very thick consistency and color as you desire with (preferably) a gel food coloring. It dries fairly quickly so work fast. You can also make flowers in the same manner as you would using buttercream, as well as fine pipework. It lasts quite a long time and can be repaired if necessary.
- caulking works for the fancy edging and flowers.
- Fake Whip Cream Frosting NGREDIENTS * 3/4 cup confectioners' sugar * 1 egg white * 1 cup grated apple * 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract DIRECTIONS 1. In a large bowl, combine confectioners' sugar, egg white, grated apple and vanilla. Beat on high speed of an electric mixer until desired consistency is achieved.
