Are tungsten or titanium rings besides gold any good?
I'm trying to find a wedding band and I'm not to picky on whether it is gold or not as long as it isn't the yellow gold. While skimming through the stores/websites I noticed more and more rings being made out of tungsten and titanium. Are either of these materials any good as far as lasting and not changing colors or the skin colors? I like the looks of a lot of them better than gold and noticed some cost more but I didn't know how good they were. I'd rather get some opinions before buying one and then it not be all that good.

- okay here is the difference. gold/white gold = a precious metal. so it is going to be more expensive. tungsten is a completely different metal. it is really heavy. and believe it or not indestructible. you can not scratch it. thats a good test to see if it is real. take a file across it if it scratches its fake. now titanium is much lighter. still very different from gold. but less expensive and will hold up well. none of them should change your skin color..unless the metal is fake. in my opinion its all about what you like. obviously gold is the priciest and looks the nicest. titanium&tungsten tend to look more masculine. hope that helps!
- Titanium is completely hypoallergenic and will not cause any skin reaction at all (it's used in the medical industry for replacement hips, teeth, knees, etc.) Tungsten rings are combined with either cobalt or nickel, both of which can irritate the skin of those with metal allergies. Some tungsten rings will hold their finish longer than titanium but they can also shatter under certain conditions. White gold is either slightly yellow or has a rhodium plating which can wear off after a few years. Rings made of titanium, tungsten, or white gold will hold up well under normal conditions, especially compared to yellow gold and platinum.
