What are some fun wedding favors for a smaller informal wedding?

Everything I have come across has been a little too cheesy. Bubbles and candies wrapped in mesh and matchbooks are not only not my style but I don't think anyone ever holds onto/uses most of the favors found at weddings. I would like to do something cute, personalized, and very functional (stress functional) for my guests. Any ideas without breaking the bank?

  1. We bought wallet size frames and put pics of us together in them. We were able to get a good price on the frames thru ebay. Congrats!
  2. I'm not married, but I've seen alot of neat lil' wedding gifts... 1 I went 2, everyone got a tiny salt & pepper shaker... another 1 I went to, they gave out a lil' stained glass heart shaped sun catcher thingy, with a dove on it... another 1 was a CD with the couples fav. songs...
  3. Very true observation -- most favors are so canned and schmaltzy. You could get small picture frames; they could double as place setting markers or put your names on it with the wedding date; the guests can keep them as-is for keepsakes or put their own photos inside. If your wedding happens to be around the holidays, I've seen holiday ornaments with personalized ribbons (bride/groom names, wedding date) tied on. If it's a spring or summer wedding and you've got a bit of a green thumb, you can give out seed packets of your favorite flowers or bulbs -- they can be bought in bulk and then wrapped individually with a nice fabric or paper and some ribbon, with a cute little note -- maybe something about planting seeds for a good future. While jordan almonds are pretty overdone, you can still pick candy as a favor, just pick something personalized. Instead of typical sweets, get truffles or candies from your favorite sweet shop -- something unique and fun, and something your guests would associate you both with.
