Decorations that can double as wedding favors?

I'm wondering if anyone has used the idea to use some part of their decorations from the reception as their wedding favors also? Like some type of candy/chocolate/mint inside of something that people can take when it's over... or a small engraved candle that we'll use for decor, but peple can take as well? And ideas? Thanks.

  1. You can have votive candle holders engraved with a symbol & your names & wedding date - put lots on the tables & then everyone can have one when the wedding reception is over! Oriental Trading Company does them.... I think you can get plastic swans & fill them with candies to set on the tables, then those can be taken home, as well.
  2. I've only been to one wedding when I was younger. But, that sounds like a good idea. I might even do something like that for my wedding. Good Luck and Congratulations!
  3. I actually plan weddings professionally and I have seen some of the following ideas: Candy in boxes with a monagram in your colors at each place setting which adds color and decor to the table and guests can take with them as well. Even wrapping candy in tulle or anything else that add color or texture to your table counts as decor. I have seen people do their placecards in little frames that the guests take with them when they leave. Also, you can get personalized votive holders for the table which can be cleaned out and used as shot glasses later. Keep in mind that anything on your tables (favors) adds to your decor. It can be as simple as tying a colored ribbon on your favor to add to the look.
  4. Potted flowers in your wedding colors Votives and tea lights are always good - they can throw out the candle before taking home the glass Small picture frames that you also use as place card holders
  5. For my wedding we put little bells on the table with out wedding ribbons on them ( wedding colors.. and there was a poem on them I cant remember the exact words but about ringing the bell for us to kiss.. we had one at every place setting around the table they looked adorable and the guest could take them.. we also got together as a group , aunts , moms. sisters wedding bridesmades and made these large sugarcookies shaped like wedding cakes and sugar frosted they were wrapped and tied with the same ribbon on the bells.. they looked gorgous and we also placed them on the tables next to the bells:) IT was inexpensive and pepple loved them!!
  6. candles is nice all so Gold fish in a Bowl
  7. All wedding favors are decorations which is why I hate when someone carelessly dumps a bag of candy on the table and calls it a day. I have been to wedding where mini candy bars or kisses are just dumped and spread on a table. Check out Martha Steward.com for ideas. Even a white box decorated with ribbon can be a beautiful accent to your table.
  8. I like this idea and was thinking of it myself. Some things I was thinking was: hanging lanterns with the wedding details painted on the glass in wedding colours, Chair cushions embroided with our names and the guests so they are the 'place cards', decoration and favours, place card photoframes, engraved dessert spoons, printed coasters, wrapped candy baubles (like the clear christmas baubles you can fill) and the wedding cake as a series of boxed cake pieces (set up to look like a cake) but at the end of the night they get a pretty little box with the cake inside (save extra money and make it dessert as well!) http://www.cakebox.com.au/-Funky-Cakes-.html The last one, but i have seen it done better.
  9. You can do votive candles in pretty holders scattered around your tables. Then people can take them home when they leave. Or you can put flowers in bud vases by every plate (or pair of plates) instead of a centerpiece. Then guests can take them home when they go.
  10. I used two different things. First I used silk bags that matched my colors that were filled with chocolates and mints, and aroung the bags I tied them with ribbons that had our wedding info on it. At the dinner tables I had clothe napkins with everyone's name embriodered on them (so they knew where to sit and they could take home)....OH! I almost forgot...... I also put disposable cameras at all the tables.... so everyone could take photos of things, then they leave them behind after the reception.... it really makes for some great wedding album photos with all different perspectives.
  11. i have thought about doing fortune cookies and take out boxes. You can get them in different colors and flavors and there is a site that will even put a message on them so they can be used as table placements
  12. I'd stay away from the candy. Just tell your guests to take the centerpieces. We had single roses and floating candles in random wine glasses. We got all the glassware at garage sales for less than $1 each. They took them ALL!

  14. We used votive candles. On the outside of the glass it said thank you sharing our special day and under that it had our names and our wedding date. We got them at www.orientaltrading.com. good luck to you and congratulations.
  15. As far as favors go the sad truth is that if you cant eat or drink it they are left behind and trashed. We are getting married in Fall and have two "favors" One is having our photographer take professional portraits for any guests who want one during dancing in front of an awesome background. After the wedding they will be posted so guests can print them off or order pro copies. On our tables we will have caramel apples that will do triple duty as escort cards, decor, and favors. Each will have a ribbon with a tag saying Thank You and the guests name. We'll put them on the chargers and at the end of the night guests will take them home. If they leave them..I love caramel apples LOL. They were $1.75 each from the local candy shop and make a beautiful impact on the tables. The centerpieces are a mix of small flowering bushes and tree saplings. ($8-$15) After the wedding the guests will take them home and plant them. We will plant the wish tree and each year on our anniversary we will have a picnic under it.
  16. I do a wrapped in trulle votive candle, that could line the table with petals and maybe one or two larger candles that are lite. also I do a scented pinecone that is a proper favor for fall weddings or even early spring and can be placed on the table with petals or small cones and leaves scattered around them.
  17. Votive or tealights in simple holders.
