How much would it cost to reset diamonds into a new band?

I have a wedding band that used to be my aunts. It has 7 diamonds in it, and I want to use them for my own wedding band. Do you think it would cost a lot to get them reset into a white gold band?

  1. Re-setting, usually, isn't expensive. The cost of the new mounting (ring) is up to you. Get a few written estimates, before making the final choice.
  2. When I did this with my grandmother's diamonds, I found a jeweler who did it for the cost of the mounting. I paid for the mounting, and he set the stones in it. You could even find a jeweler who would do a custom band with the stones. Shop around carefully and make sure you know EXACTLY what you are paying for before you leave the stones and pay your money. Good luck!
  3. I don't know what you consider a lot. I do know that taking the stones out of the original mounting and resetting them into a new mounting has a labor cost attached to it. Some band prices include the labor and some do not--so, your task is to go to jewelers who offer open mountings and get estimates from them, on a band that you like. Make sure you ask them about the cost of sizing as well.
  4. search the inter-net or yellow pages in your local phone book- to find the best price-in your neighborhood or local surrounding area GOOD-LUCK
