- when i was shopping for a ring for my husband i compared white gold and platnium. What i found out was that platnium was softer and easier to damage, white gold was harder to damage and would last longer. Hope that helps
- I don't like white gold because it needs rhodium plating every couple years to retain it's silvery luster. After bothering with $30-$50 plating for each of my rings every 1-2 years I said ENOUGH! From now on it's platinum for me. I've heard titanium is good too. EDIT: Platinum is NOT softer and easier to damage than gold, it's the other way around. However, it is more difficult to buff out scratches in platinum.
- Titanium is uber strong, but (as far as I know) is impossible to be resized. I'd go for white gold.. what happens if you swell and have to cut the ring off? with titanium (as far as I know) you're out of luck.
- First, ask him what he likes instead of what you want him to wear. It doesn't have to match yours. My husband wore white gold and I wore yellow, as that was what our jewelry tastes were, and we had to wear it. (I say "wore" because he passed away...) Titanium is much more stylish, lighter and stronger. White gold has more classic style.

- I'd say titanium because it's a harder metal, but that's a matter of personal perferance I think.
- This is all really a preference issue... Titanium is much stronger and lighter than white gold, so can last forever. However, it cannot be made smaller and you have to make sure it is sized correctly before buying. White gold is simply yellow gold dipped in rhodium, so you will have to get it re-dipped periodically to keep its luster.
- Would never go with titanium. With white gold, there's that whole redipping thing. Most men like classic yellow gold - and with getting 10k it's very strong. Your rings don't have to match.
- Titanium is really strong and white gold will turn yellow over time and fyi platinum is the strongest metal in the world.
- Titanium CAN be resized but not many jewelers will do so. We can make titanium rings smaller or larger, details here: www.titaniumresizing.com All metals will scratch over time but most will develop a "patina" of scratches that become less noticeable. Gold, platinum, and titanium can all be refinished. Pure gold is softer than platinum or titanium but white gold is harder than platinum and slightly harder than pure titanium. All can be cut off in an emergency room.
