unique creative wedding decorations?

what are creative wedding decorations that you could do yourself? it's going to be a june wedding in a church. the colors are white and burgundy. we don't have a very big budget to work with which is getting my best friend down a little bit (to the point of canceling.. she already eloped before her husband went to army training).. she's in tears when she considers not having it, so i decided i'd do everything i could to make her a beautiful wedding. any ideas?

  1. Do as much as you can yourself.. You can get some simple, paper ribbon and make bows for the pews. You could get silk flowers instead of real ones and make up arrangements yourself which would save a lot of money. Make up your own favors .. the candy coated almonds are inexpensive or you can go to a wholesale candy store and get 'candy coated chocolate' in your colors.. http://www.groovycandies.com/GC2SearchResult.asp?SR=1&textfield=koppers and make up your favors with some tulle circles. You can also do matchbooks with their names on it as favors, they're cheaper and classic too! :)
  2. Consider looking at yard sales and second hand stores for stuff, I bought my cake knife and server at a yard sale for $1. Remember decorations are like jewelery, less is more. Good luck.
  3. you can get tissue paper and make the flowers yourself, use them as table arrangement they are easy and quick, cheap to boot. they sound tacky, but they actually turn out nice if they match the colors, Try a second hand place to find cake toppers, and u tinsels to cut the cake. Instead of paying a personal cater try doing the food yourself, save major money, I did a wedding for myself in 7 days before his mother died, we had $ 400. all together for food ,clothing, decorations,
  4. I know this may be cliche' but go to marthastewart.com look through her website. she has A LOT of GREAT ideas you can do that are really inexpensive and look awesome! For example she has some paper and bead pew wreaths . They look awesome! I did them for my sisters wedding and I hung some tulle through the wreath down the Isle. I also painted my sisters new monogram on the Aisle runner. using craft paint and a stencil. For flowers and greenery, use silk! do not cut the stems and then return them when you are done.
