Dark Blue and Silver/Gray Wedding Themes?
I am having my wedding in June of this year and have picked a dark blue and silver as my colors. Originally we were going to have the wedding at night and that way the colors would work but we have now decided to move the wedding to the early afternoon. I realize I kind of picked winter wedding colors...ooops. How do I make it work with a summer wedding theme? What theme would you use with these colors? I'm talking for the favors, flowers, decorations etc. Thanks! I am going to use white table cloths to brighten it up. I already ordered the dark blue bridesmaids dresses though.

- How about a nautical theme? Your could incorporate small accents of bright yellow. If you don't like the nautical theme, you could go elegant with light pink accents in the flowers and decorations.
- not to say it's wrong but why so dark they sound very nice just not for a wedding or if your going to use they dark blue as trim with the silver can't quite see it boo... but what ever u do don't over power it make it simple but noticible and it should be fine maybe throw a lilltle cream in some where (flowers, cake, ring pillow, place setting then trimed in dark blue) etc best whishes to you an the groom...PLEASE not take offense u asked
- If you havent bought anything yet, can you still change the colors? Blue and silver will still work no matter what. You dont need a "theme" just a color scheme.
- Those colors are georgous. To go with the silver/gray color I would get 24'' tall vases and put pussywillow branches in them then wrap the bottor 4 inches of the vases in navy ribbon. then I would have a simple navy blue table runner across each table. OMG! for your favors you should totally buy silver fortune cookies (they are really just metal with silver leafing over the top to help keep the price down) and have your name and wedding date on the piece of paper that goes inside. You could also get lots of rice paper lamps and decorate them with abstract shapes cut out of navy blue rice paper. wow, I am eally thinking about changing my wedding colors now :) congrats.
- So long as the bridesmaids dresses are in a spring style I would think dark blue would be fine for afternoon wedding. Add lots of white accents to brighten it up and it will look very elegant. I don't think you need a theme, you could do something beachy though or nautical.
- I think it's a beautiful color combination, and you don't have to worry if it's "Summer" or "Winter" colors because really, it's your only wedding, and you shouldn't care too much about what's trendy for the month-- you have those pictures and memories forever!! I personally think a nautical theme sounds kinda cheesy, if you don't like anything about sailing or the sea, that is. You don't really have to have a "theme," though nighttime/stars goes well with dark blue & silver. You could brighten it up with little accents of white, like you said, or a lighter blue to go with the dark blue, or even pink (light or hot pink would both accent the navy very well). Here are some pictures that could give you some ideas. http://weddings.theknot.com/ODB/themes/realweddings/detailview.aspx?id=24773&colors=Blue&pageIndex=1 I like this bouquet a lot, and maybe you could have the florist use silver ribbon: http://galleries.weddingchannel.com/odb/themes/weddingchannel/detailView.aspx?id=25040&type=19&Colors=Blue This is way too much pink (the background) IMO, but it shows how pink & navy can go well together: http://weddings.theknot.com/odb/themes/slideshows/DetailView.aspx?type=10&id=16294 Finally, here's a WHOLE ARTICLE of BLUE & SILVER IDEAS (helpful links for diff DIY decor ideas too)!! http://www.marthastewart.com/article/perfect-palette-blue-and-silver?lnc=06b7281a117ee010VgnVCM1000003d370a0aRCRD&rsc=photogallery_wedding-themes_weddings_wedding-themes_p4 I don't think they look gloomy or wintery at all :) Good luck, and congratulations!
- Skip the silver/gray and use something like coral or aqua to brighten things up.
