Do you have any creative winter wedding ideas?

I am getting married in January 2009. My colors are silver, white, cobalt, and robin's egg blue. I am using lots of snowflakes and sparkles. Just looking for ideas involving everything from decorations, cakes, invitations, and flowers. Be creative. Help me create. Thanks!! Tonya http://www.freewebs.com/tonyasdreamhunting

  1. Ice sculptures are always a hit, remember Phoebe's winter wedding on FRIENDS?
  2. Depending on how formal your wedding is, you may be able to put a snowman couple on top of your cake. Wouldn't that be a cute cake topper? Of course it would not be right for your cake, though, if it is too formal. Also, you might throw in some purple with your colors. It really makes the white and silver pop! I would go with white roses for flowers- so pretty and elegant. Imagine your bridesmaid in a deep purple dress, carrying white roses with blue, purple, and silver ribbons- beautiful! If you like cobalt better, go with that, but I wouldn't use cobalt if you go with the deep purple.
  3. Ice sculpture is an awesome idea. You can get some of the fake snow stuff (like you see in the big snow globes at the mall) and the guests can throw that at you instead of birdseed/bubbles.
  4. have a hot drink bar at the reception and serve your guests coffee, hot cocoa, apple cider, tea etc. Especially if it cold.
  5. Well here is an idea for the kids of the bridal party. Get them to help cut out some snowflakes and help sparkles some silver cobalt and robin's egg blue sparkles over them and hang them from the ceiling with fishing wire. It will be cute and the kids will like they did something to help with the wedding/
  6. Something that's very popular right now are trees. You could get trees and spray paint them and hang the clear lights on them, instead of having the flowergirl throw petals have her throw fake snow instead, have a coffee and hot chocolate bar setup during the cocktail hour, have place cards on mittens that hang from a tree, favors could be a mug with you and the grooms names, also a snowglobe with a message with you and the groom's name is nice or your picture in the snowglobe.
  7. I like the idea of having some hot drinks such as apple cider. There's also Italian hot chocolate- that is so delicious! (made from real chocolate). http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/ff216/blushevents/WinterWeddingBoard.jpg favour ideas: http://www.icestandard.org/files/productsimages/KA/GelCandle%20L.jpg (I love this one): http://www.favorfavor.com/Merchant2/graphics/00000001/5358w.jpg http://www.weddingstyle.ca/Favor%20Winter%20Snowflake%20Place%20Card.JPG http://www.beardeddragon.com.au/img_pages/wedding/white_blue_silver.jpg http://www.glamourousgowns.co.uk/icymood.jpg http://www.thecakeplate.com/images/blue_white_flower_large.jpg
  8. I don't know what they are called, but they are tree branches they can be as high as 6 ft. Anyways you can hang crystal or glass bead from them. Draped them with flowers and lights. I saw this on Platinum Weddings and it was beautiful.
