Ideas for a woodland theme winter wedding?

We are getting married in jan next year and I want a woodland theme but am looking for different ideas. I don't want anything christmasy so no red, gold, berries etc. I am having olive green bridesmaids and I have fir cones on my invitations. I need ideas for flowers and room decoration.

  1. Maybe use tree branches with moss, evergreen trees different heights(don't decorate) ,ferns, logs, maybe some life like animals. Do a cake with brown icing Congrats
  2. How about snowflakes for accents and a white, silver and ice blue colour theme? It would be different, and tasteful, not "Christmasy". With the white, silver and ice blue colour scheme you could have white flowers of any type with blue ribbons for accents on the bouquets. I'd get silver snowflakes for decorating on tables, candles, favours, etc. here are some ideas, I'm sure you can find more... http://www.weddingsbydezign.com/spsncopof12.html http://indoors.pricegrabber.com/wedding-decor/p/4633/form_keyword=Snowflake+Glass+Coasters/rd=1/mode=ink_kwfeed_30/skd=1/st=query/ here's a gorgeous cake http://www.bridalpartytees.com/blog/?p=77
  3. You could do vases with big long dark sticks that have been crystallized. http://www.save-on-crafts.com/icedbranches.html go to the link and look at the pictures on that page.. especially the one in the church... you could do this at the reception and use blues, white, or silver lighting. Lots of candles. I think that would be cheap to do yourself (icing the branches and putting them in vases) and beautiful. Something else you could do with the branches is instead of faux icing then... you could tie many strings of crystals on them... the candleight would reflect very well.
  4. where we are having our rec. is in the mountains. they did a snow castle for a differnt wedding in feb of this year.
  5. My favorite decorating trick is Willow Branches. You'd need to check with your florist to see about their availability in winter, but usually you can get them year round, and they make dried ones. They can be broken into smaller bits to go into bouquets, and they can stand alone in a vase and have an interesting textural quality. Also, they tend to be pretty dang cheap for how much space they take up. I also love that they can be incorporated into just about everything. If they are fresh and left in water, they will eventually sprout. http://www.nettletonhollow.com/blog/uploaded_images/fresh-curly-willow-branches-716036.gif Also, since you are using pine cones in the invites, you could use some of that pine cone potpourri that you find everywhere come fall/winter. Just stick some in a glass bowl or a metal tub and voila! Interesting centerpiece for the bathrooms and guest table. And for a guestbook, you could print and cut out pine cone shapes, have people write you messages on them, and hang them on a tree [real or fake.] Its more interesting than just addreses and with personal messages, you can get some very touching and/or funny comments.
  6. Plenty of candles & fairy lights... lots of white & a little green. To stop a theme looking tacky, u just want small elements of your theme. No stuffed squirrels lol. In your floral displays have lots of catkin, some bluebells or hiacynth... real natural woodland flowers. It could be truly beautiful.
  7. White or green "fur" trimmed capes. Tiny white flowers augmented with pale green blossoms and thin branches. Muffs instead of flowers for the bridesmaids. A silver medieval circlet instead of a rhinestone tiara. Branches, white/green winter flowers, and fruit for the centerpieces. A fancy espresso machine to make hot toddy's and cocoa. Grapevine balls stuffed with a single string of mini lights each(I did this for Winter decorations. It looked GREAT!). You can also scatter little crystal paperweights as wedding favors. Cinnamon brooms for decoration and scent. Green velvet tablecloths. Tapestry wall hangings of deer and other woodland animals. Pomegranates. Does any of this help?
  8. For centerpieces buy small wreaths, pull the branches up and away, and put a candle that looks like tree bark(or small pinecones on it) in the middle. You could also take small long twigs, wrap them with string lights and set them in glass vases. Buy real tree tops and decorate them with pinecones and place around the room. This will give a scented woodsy feeling. For flowers use rainforest greenery with various colors of greens.
  9. nothing christmasy+ fir cones on your invites? doesnt work that way. anyways. since you`ve obviously chosen green, try getting green conffetti, green flowers, and olives in appropriate places and times.
  10. For decoration purposes, Id say something a little different like em getting two bird baths (may get from neighbour or something) with water, petals and floating candles Small things that make a difference like wrapping ivy around things Flower pots give of a nice woodland theme; http://www.hansonellis.com/assortedweddingfavors/flowersbucket2.jpg http://www.guscleberry.com/image_manager/attributes/image/image_1/40301709_8681651_full.jpg paper weight decorations ? http://www.yourpresents.co.uk/images/ssmouse-of-mushroom-front.jpg Instead of a load of flower decorations, how about feathers? http://landshape.org/images/Arr4%20003.jpg http://www.porcelainroses.com/porc660bx2.jpg or get some real life in your decorations... http://a2.vox.com/6a00b8ea0714f21bc000c22526f9c28fdb-500pi Hope I helped
  11. I would go to ChurchBows.Com and get them to make you some bows in your colors to decorate. They have beautiful Olivine Green Wedding Bows.
