Casual Wedding Dresses Knowledge Base
Good website to look at casual wedding dress styles? I'm looking for a relaxed kind of wedding dress suitable for a beach wedding. All the sites I've seen have only had a couple of token dresses that aren't super formal. Does anyone know of a good site that has a signficant range of pictures of more casual styles? I don't mean I want a bikini and sarong or anything, but no train, not full length, and no elaborate corsets or anything. Thanks
I need a casual wedding dress for my wedding in Maui. Any great websites out there? I've Googled all combinations "beach wedding dress", "casual wedding dress", "informal wedding dress" and nothing seems to come up that looks fairly classy. Any suggestions? Also, I've looked at David's Bridal and have found a few simple dresses, but I'm worried about the logistics of getting the dress to Hawaii. Any ideas on that one as well? Thanks!

Casual wedding dress help please? I am having a hard time with searching for "casual wedding dresses" or "casual wedding attire"...so many spam and crap sites! I will be married next spring in AZ, very casual (my second wedding) and want informal but classy...any help would be appreciated!
Where can I find a casual wedding dress? I am getting married in the Caribbean and I want something casual and comfortable that I could wear all evening as well. I want to wear white, but I do not want a full length gown.
What shoes should I wear with a long, flowy, casual, ivory wedding dress? I'll be almost 9 months pregnant so i don't want heels. Would gold ballet flats work? I have wide feet to begin with and now that I'm in my third trimester they tend to swell. Pictures of shoes that would work would be much appreciated! Here's a picture of my dress: http://www.specialoccasionmaternity.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=17 Wedding Dresses - Long Rhinestone Maternity Dress - 5011L
Will my wedding be ruined if my bridemaids' dresses are casual? I let my bridemaids on their own for dresses, I just sent them a link to David's Bridal and told them the color I wanted. Two of them got more casual looking dresses at a thrift store with that color flowers on it. The other one says she has a white dress that she's going to dye. The wedding is in two weeks, so I can't really order online. The groomsmen are in tuxes and my dress is formal too. My Mom is freaked out and said all the pictures she's paying for will be ruined now. I told them to get more formal dresses, but now I'm wondering if I should tell them to keep the ones they have. If all three go out for more formal dresses they might be all different and stand out even more. Your thoughts? My dress doesn't have a train. It is big and poofy, and has a veil. My mother is willing to pay for new dresses. They are all poor grad students. I feel like an idiot not getting on them to send me a picture of their dresses earlier. I'm not a girly girl and usually very casual, and so are my friends, so that's why they probably didn't go the traditional bridesmaid dress route. Thanks to all who answered so far for calming my frazzled nerves! I talked to my future husband and he thinks it will be fine either way.
Can i wear this for a smart casual wedding in the afternoon? I have no idea if i should wear this dress for a afternoon wedding in a church. The dress code of the wedding is smart casual. I thought of wearing a knee length brown dress that has a puffed out ends and a cardigen over it. And i also thought of wearing heels. Is it too formal for a smart casual wedding? And what exactly is a smart casual wedding? can i wear dresses to a smart casual wedding? or would everyone there just be in blouses and skirt? If smart casual was just blouses and skirt,is there another way i can wear my dress and not look so formal, or do i really need to change my outfit?
casual wedding dress? trying to find a casual wedding dress, halter, tea length, any websites i could check?
semi-casual wedding dress? I am looking for a semi-casual wedding dress that isn't very expensive. Perhaps the type people might wear for a beach wedding. No satin...material that's a little slinky, v-neck, simple. Can you suggest good websites or links?
looking for a dress for a casual wedding? i am looking for a casual yet somewhat dressy dress for an informal wedding as I have been married before and so has he. He plans on wearing new jeans, western shirt, and boots. Can anyone help me?
Casual wedding dress - what do you think? This is for my small, casual, May '09 wedding. Opinions? And please try not to be TOO negative :D http://www.alfredangelo.com/Collections/ProductDisplay.aspx?productID=c3733ce6-96f9-40d8-b3d4-70b25ba76711&categoryID=32e5a88c-cbf1-498f-afcf-dbfca138c5d3&pg=0 It's not beach-flip-flops casual. The guys are still wearing tuxes (I wanted suits but didn't get it).
What should i wear to a smart casual church wedding in the afternoon around 4pm? i will be attending a wedding in a church next week and i have a problem in knowing what to wear. Here are some questions Firstly, what is a smart casual wedding? is it the same as dressy casual or semi-formal wedding?and what would be the most appropriate outfit for a smart casual wedding in a church? Secondly, can i wear a knee length dress for a smart casual wedding? i am afraid that it would be too formal. Thirdly, should i wear heels and carry a small clutch bag?would it be a little to formal for a smart casual wedding? And lastly, is wearing a simple blouse and skirt a little too informal for a smart casual wedding?
Any stores/websites featuring hippie/natural/free-flowing wedding dresses? I'm not talking about those uber-hippie wedding dresses that feature patchwork quilting or pictures of rabbits sharing a carrot under a tree. I just mean flowing, casual, natural wedding dresses (or just white dresses....doesn't need the "wedding" title) that aren't all poof or glitz. Any suggestions for websites? And please, no Davids Bridal or Alfred Angelo, etc. Thanks!!
i need a dress for a VERY casual wedding? ok, i'm going to a wedding in Atlanta in October, and i need a dress. it can be very casual, any color. other info: i'm 14, my favorite color is purple, i plan on wearing black flats, i would like it to be $50 or less. (as cheap as possible, basically) thanks! links would be great!
Is it appropriate to wear my casual wedding gown to our open house? So I'm planning my wedding (we're LDS and it's a Temple ceremony). We live in Utah, my family lives in Kentucky, and his is in Virginia. The ceremony and (casual) reception will be in D.C., and we're holding an open house in Utah. Would it be appropriate for me to wear my casual tea-length wedding gown (actually a white prom dress) to my open house? (The open house is several days after the wedding.)
Is this wedding dress too fancy for my "casual" wedding? I am planning a very casual outdoor wedding in a local park. Invitations will be "e-vite"; my bouquet will be from Vons; the guys are wearing suits, not tuxes; the picnic tables will be decorated with 99c tablecloths from Walmart, $10 potted plants from Home Depot & a plant pot filled with $2 Trader Joe's wine; the cake will be 2 sheet cakes from Costco (we could change this to a "real" one). Otherwise, we'll have it catered (buffet, luau style food) and have a DJ and covered dance floor. I had originally picked this dress: http://www.davidsbridal.com/bridal_gowns_detail.jsp?stid=3201&prodgroup=210 which fits with the overall theme because it's casual. But now I've got my heart set on this one: http://www.1koo.com/wedding/itemdetail.asp?itemid=HSB0337 (scroll down the page for the best picture). Do you think the second dress (my favorite) makes the rest of the wedding seem too casual? Thanks so much for your help!
What to wear to casual semi-formal wedding? I'm going to a wedding in a month and the invitation says to dress casual/semi-formal. It's her 3rd wedding (but her only marriage) because they have family all over the world. They are reaffirming their vows in an outdoor ceremony and the reception is at a tavern. So what should I wear that is semi-formal? The weather is warm here too. And what should my husband wear?
Is this dress appropriate for a casual wedding? I just bought this dress, and as always when it comes to weddings, I'm nervous that I'll be dressed incorrectly. It is a garden brunch wedding with attire listed as "casual". I'm hoping not to be overdressed, but I'd much rather be overdressed than underdressed. This is the dress, any opinions would be greatly appreciated: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160138031862&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fsearch.ebay.com%3A80%2Fsearch%2Fsearch.dll%3Ffrom%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dm37%26satitle%3D160138031862%26category0%3D%26fvi%3D1 Thanks for all the answers! To the "vintage" answer, that's completly my style to begin with. To the breast baring answerer, I chose it fully covered for two reasons. One, I have very large breasts but I'm tiny everywhere else (it's an unwelcome God-given gift) so even full-coverage won't distract. But I've already measured so I know I'll fit. And two, I'm coming back from a tropical vacation the very night before so I wanted to guard against any possible tan line scenarios, hence the covered chest. Oh, and no worries on shipping, I've got it tracked to arrive in 10 days!
What to wear to a informal/casual wedding reception? Hi, I was wondering what to wear to a informal/casual evening wedding reception. My other half is wearing a sort of going out dress so i was thinking of wearing a plain black suit and plain white shirt without a tie.........BUT im thinking this may be slightly over dressed? I then thought why not just wearing a plain black sports jacket and black jeans and possibly a white shirt with shoes......... Any advice would be helpful....... Cheers.
what do i wear to a CASUAL wedding? I am going to a wedding this weekend and the invite said dress casual and comftorble. I want to look good but i dont want to be like to fancey but then i dont want to be like to casual what do i do?
Is it inappropriate to wear fire engine red to a wedding? I am a photographer just starting out and this is my first wedding. I'm not a guest or in the wedding party, I will just be taking the pictures. My T-shirt that I made for my business with the logo on it is fire engine red and I will be wearing that with blue denim capris and Doc Martin sandals. The wedding is casual dress but sadly I have no clue when it comes to proper wedding etiquette or attire. LOL. Thanks for your help, I'm nervous as can be.....
What's your take on a casual wedding? My fiance and I were talking and we've decided we'd like to have a casual wedding where everyone wears their best clothes. I would get a nice pair or dress slacks and a nice sweater and he would get a nice pair of slacks and dress shirt or a suit. If he gets a suit he'll get one from Goodwill. I'll have my bridesmaids wear either black dresses or black slacks and a black sweater (their choice) and they can wear one from their closet so that they are comfortable. The groomsmen can wear their best slacks and button up shirt with a black tie (we'll buy the ties). We'll do pretty bouquets and bouts and in colors of red, brown, and orange with accent colors of gold and green. We'll invite around 60 people to our wedding with some simple invitations and have something like a Thanksgiving feast. What's your take on this? How would you feel if you were a guest at this wedding? What other ideas can you give me? And no, I do not want to get an informal wedding dress. There is no point in spending that much money on a dress I will only wear once. I'm not going to wear white as it is not at all my style. I'd get it messy somehow. And my fiance says that he doesn't mind. We talked about the practicality of me getting a wedding dress and we both agree that we would rather put the money towards something else.
Is it ok to wear a casual dress to get married in? The wedding will be small.? I am getting married this October, and we are just having the ceremony at a friend's house with only about six or seven people there. I wasn't planning to get a bridal gown, but is it ok to wear a chocolate brown dress with a colorful print? The dress looks awesome on me, but I am not sure If maybe I should try a little harder to find something in lighter colors. The internet is worthless for me, because my body shape is different than the average person.
What should I wear to casual wedding? I will be attending a very casual wedding next month. They said the dress code would be "informal business (no suits for men), country club, cocktail, garden party or any other kind of informal attire." They said the ceremony will be mostly outdoors. I am a man, and I am thinking of wearing a button-down shirt and dockers. What do you think of that? Does it matter if I wear a short sleeve shirt or long sleeve shirt? Do I need to wear a tie?
Is this dress to casual for my brothers wedding? I am 15, the wedding is outside in a field, and i dont know if this is too casual... http://store.alloy.com/item.do?categoryID=919&itemID=48589&sizeFilter=&colorFilter=&brandFilter= its the dress in red. thanks
Casual wedding reception at the end of summer. Any ideas? So my fiance and I are getting married in Vegas July 8th. We are having our wedding reception on Sept. 8th outside under a pavillion at a big park. We've decided it will be casual and kinda like an end of summer get together in celebration of our marriage. Food will be hamburgers and hot dogs with stuff to go along with it. I am thinking of getting a DJ and finding a way to play the DVD of our wedding. Other than that, anyone have any ideas they can throw at me in regards to decorations, other things to do etc? I am trying to get my guy to wear a suit at least for the first hour and then change afterward so that we can do our first dance (and etc.) all dressed up. I know I would like to wear my dress again. Is this a good idea? Will the two ideas clash? HELP!!!
Dress for casual outdoor wedding (pic)...? Do you think if I got this dress in white it would be acceptable for a casual outdoor wedding? http://www.jasminebridal.com/html/en/web1_b2_2_a.asp?id=1949 What about this one? http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/2968613/0~2378467~2378483~2377032~6008190?mediumthumbnail=Y&origin=category&searchtype=&pbo=6008190&P=1 Which one would you pick? It is going to be very casual in our back yard. I am the bride
How do you define "casual dress"? I am going to a wedding and the invitation says "casual dress". The wedding is at Church and then at a reception place. I suppose a nice skirt and a top is appropriate, but are there any guidelines? eg: can I wear jeans?
Can someone help me with a website for a casual dress? I am getting married in the town hall but we are having a huge reception after. Casual Wedding Invitations!? _______________________________________________ The honor of your presence is requested at the marriage of Jennifer Jo Richards and Joshua Lamar Crippen on Saturday, the first of September, Two Thousand Seven, at six o'clock in the evening. An outdoor ceremony and reception will be held five miles east of Fairfield, Illinois on Highway 15. Please dress casual and join us for an evening of food, music, and fun. Please RSVP to 555-5555 _______________________________________________ Then, on a separate sheet of paper, we will include a map of how to get there and also some hotel/camping options. Does this invitation sound ok?? The theme of the wedding is daisys and bright colors----bright pink, green, orange, yellow, and purple. We need saying for the top of the invitations that goes along with flowers and love. Can you tell me any that would go with this
What do you think of these two dresses for my wedding? I'm getting married July 19, 2008, in my fiance's parent's backyard. It will be small (60 people) and casual, so that's why I've chosen this bridesmaid dress as my wedding dress. The second link would be the dress for my maid of honor. What do you think? http://barijay.com/style.php?PHPSESSID=8c6d5c59a2f3fb46d31aeebb2b9dcfbe&coll=barijay&showid=97&fva=421# http://barijay.com/style.php?PHPSESSID=8c6d5c59a2f3fb46d31aeebb2b9dcfbe&coll=barijay&showid=107&PHPSESSID=8c6d5c59a2f3fb46d31aeebb2b9dcfbe# Oh, the bridesmaid dress would be in red (the link didn't hold) and the first dress would be white, and the sash colors are debatable. Red and cream? White, white, white? I don't know. I'm the bride on the right, my maid of honor is on the left (this is also about 3 years ago.) Just so you can "visualize" the dresses. http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b8/aymekae/Friends/AymeLesley2.jpg
What to wear at a casual wedding in CA? This weekend, I am attending a 5 p.m. San Diego, CA casual wedding (no jeans or shorts) in 60-70 degree weather. I live in the Northeast and don't want to look out of place, over or under dressed. The invite and reception/ceremony location looks pretty nice. As a female, what do I wear? Is it too early to wear Linen? Are sling backs okay?
dress too casual for a wedding? so i have a dress from forever 21, its cream with black flowers and a black satin ribbon with a bubble hem, well i wanted to were it to a wedding but its very short, if i were leggings with it do you think it will be too casual for a afternoon wedding at a plantation? Thanks!!
Wedding dresses? Do you think it would be ok if I actually wore a bridesmaids dress as a wedding dress? I bought a dress at Bloomingdales for a hundred bucks but I am still looking. It' s a beach wedding and the dress is very casual. Kind of bohimian like. I just found a nice dress on davidbridal.com but it's for the maids. I am not looking to spend a lot of money. Any suggestions? Do you think it would be very noticeable? Which dress do you think is prettier? The one I have already - NO HAT! http://s71.photobucket.com/albums/i156/ozmarules/dresses/?action=view¤t=mydress.jpg Or the one I just found for a hundred and fifty bucks - http://s71.photobucket.com/albums/i156/ozmarules/dresses/?action=view¤t=davidbridaldress.jpg
what do women wear to a casual wedding.? I have been invite to a wedding & I was told that it was just casual, but I'm not sure what to wear. Of chorse I'm not going to wear jeans & a t-shirt, but I'm not going to put on a dress either. It's going to be on Aug. 18th so the weather will still be nice. my kids & husband already have their clothes. The boys & their dad will be wearing dress pants & a dress shirt, maybe jackets & ties. The girls are wearing sun type dresses & dressy sandals with their hair up or in curls. Whatever I'm wearing I'll have to go & buy. Suggestions please....
Opinions needed: dresses? Outdoor garden wedding in April '08: What do you think of the following dresses? Bridesmaid dress: Alfred Angelo #6476 Dress in a light green, ribbon in peach Wedding Dress: Alfred Angelo #1505 Can be found on www.alfredangelo.com I like how these two dresses are similar. The outdoor wedding calls for a more casual wedding dress, I think. Our colors are green and peach (obviously). All opinions are welcome! Thanks!
Are summer dresses wedding-appropriate? http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=1601926 (Note that they're 2 separate outfits) Would something like these look cute but appropriate to wear to a wedding? If so, which outfit? Do you think they look improper or too casual? I don't want to wear something that's "inappropriate" for a wedding and look out of place. But i've never been to a wedding before. I'm attending a wedding next year in mid-august that's going to be held inside a beautiful church and the bride is my cousin. I'm not sure what kind of dress to get. And we don't really talk much so i don't have the chance to ask. If i get a more formal dress, then i'd only be able to wear it once. If a get a casual-summer dress, then i could wear it during summer too...so i need MAJOR help please! If you've been to a wedding, PLEASE tell me what dresses people are suposed to wear. And if the outfits i made are ugly, please let me know. And sorry the colors look wintery lol.
Wedding in Florida- Dress Code Resort Casual ? ? ? ? Hi People I am going to a wedding in Florida. The dress code is Resort Casual. Is this to be interpreted linen suit or less casual , chino style trousers and short sleeve shirt??? Help I'm British and don't want to interpret this the wrong way... I am 28. The wedding is for some friends in their early 30s. Any comments will be greatly received. Thanks - Chris
Low cost wedding-my idea for bridesmaid dresses.? My fiance and I are having a low cost wedding, and I feel that since my girls are all like me (not a lot of extra cash to toss around) I thought since they have to buy their dresses, to make them just pick a plain, black dress, and just have them wear matching rock-a-billy type mary janes and flowers tucked behind their ears. We are getting married in a church, though, and all of the guys will be wearing tuxedos. Is my idea too casual a dress idea for the wedding? Any suggestions? FYI, we are looking to keep our wedding different and fun, and both of us are heavily tattooed, as is our party, so I want my girls dresses to be very out of the ordinary and fun and different!!
looking for a halter style wedding dress, nothing fancy...? anyone know any links to good websites to find a simple halter style top dress? im having a casual wedding in vegas, it will just be my fiance and i, so i dont want anything over the top, but i want something to look pretty in pictures.
My fiance doesn't like my wedding dress? I showed a picture of a wedding dress I liked in a magazine and website to my fiance and he didn't like it. Last week, I had the opportunity 2 go shopping 4 a dress & i saw the dress. Everybody in the store & my friend said it was the nicest dress I tried on & I discussed it with my fiance who at the time said that he trusted the opinions of the people I was with so I ended up putting 50% down on it. Last night my fiance saw a photo of me in the dress & ended up admitting that he thought the dress was horrible & couldn't understand why I would have got it when he had already said 2 me that he didn't like it & it didn't suit the style of wedding we were having (originally it was a casual wedding & I picked a formal dress). I got really upset & he's tried 2 backtrack on what he said as he feels awful, but I want 2 cancel the order. Do bridal stores offer refunds? If not, what do I do? I don't want 2 wear this dress anymore as I want 2 wow him in my dress & I know I won't in this one I just rang the store. She is going to try and cancel the order and she said that they'll give me store credit. It's a small boutique store so I hope they have a more suitable dress. I know I was an idiot by choosing that dress but it was the one I fell in love with and I had all the sales assistants around me and my friend telling me how it was "MY" dress and nothing else came close and I got too caught up in it and didn't think of it objectively. My fiance was only being honest as my dress changed what he wore, the flowers and lots of other little things and I can understand how he was feeling a little frustrated, he didn't mean to hurt my feelings and he feels awful over it. Next dress though I sure won't be showing him the dress but next time I'll be choosing a more appropriate dress and one that I know he will love. ok, can I just say that my fiance is not a jerk and he's not controlling or anything like that. My choice of dress completely changed what he was planning to wear, the flowers that we had ordered and the colour scheme. He was only pointing out that the dress wasn't appropriate and was surprised and dismayed that I would pick a dress I knew he didn't particularly care for and didn't put proper thought into it and he's right. I didn't :( He feels absolutely awful about upsetting me and is willing to change his outfit, the colour scheme and the flowers just to make me happy. I'm just an idiot to have got all caught up in the moment and not take the time to really think about it.
What do you think of my indian wedding dress? Maybe some of you might remember my previous questions. Well I bought a dress, decided not to buy online just because of the bad luck I had the first time. This one is very casual and not terribly expensive at all. I'm not having a traditional Indian wedding, but I like Indian dresses. Our wedding is fall-themed with some asian feel to it. My wedding attendants will be wearing plain saris with some light golden embroidery. My fiance will be wearing a brown suit. It's a laid-back casual wedding. Do you think this will look nice?? Honest opinions. That's the dress on my body (the blouse is not the best fitting, but I'll get it altered closer to the wedding). This is the detail of the blouse: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v312/chikufairy/orange2.jpg The whole dress: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v312/chikufairy/orangedress.jpg Sorry for bad quality photos, I don't have a steady hand. How should I get the skirt altered? The blouse is really tight around my bust and on the side, you can see a bit of my skin, sew I went to get that sewed down to cover my skin wear the fabric separates.
casual wedding reception at the end of summer...Ideas??? So my fiance and I are getting married in Vegas July 8th. Necklace for wedding?? I'm having a more casual wedding. This is a link to my wedding dress: http://www.dessy.com/dresses/bridesmaid/6525/ though it is more of an ivory in person. I am either having my hair half up or all down. I would like something to dress up the dress a little more and perhaps w/ some color. Wedding colors are pale yellow w/ a splash of silvery-blue. I was thinking maybe a yellow/blue gemstone necklace, maybe. ? Any opinions/links would be appreciated...Thanks! The color I chose in that dress is Banana though it is more like an ivory in person.
What should i wear to a casual Autumn wedding???? Im going to a really casual wedding in mid-March. It's being held in the country.. durning the afternoon i think and i have no idea what to wear. I'm 16, tanned/brown skin, long brown hair and really light brown eyes with green in them. I'm thin and also abt 5 ft tall =) I would prefer to wear a dress but really need help on the type and such.. and would appreciate any advice.
How should I do my hair for a semi-casual wedding? I am going to a wedding tomorrow evening and need help with my hair. The wedding is at a house, so it's kind of caual. I will be wearing a kind of mod style dress, with grey and white color blocks, red shoes, and a red necklace. My hair is right at my shoulders, and kind of layered. It is naturally wavy, but the wave isn't good so I generally straighten it. I was thinking of doing a pompadour with my bangs and just leaving the back in a ponytail, but I think that is maybe TOO casual. Help? The easier and more detailed explanation the better!
