How can I get into professional wedding photography? I've been a photographer for some years, but only nature/wildlife, with a little bit of street. I was wondering, what is the best way to get into the wedding photography business? Also, does it make a difference that I use film, not digital? I'm not new to film or photography, I've got it all down and I'm used to my main three cameras, and know everything there is to know about these specific cameras, and how to get good tones and shots from them.
Know any nice photography places to take professional wedding pictures in Hong Kong? Hi guys, I'm going to hong kong in August. My sister went right after she got married and had her wedding photos taken there. The photography place provided attire for the bride and groom and also a beautiful setting. My sister looked so pretty. I'm going for 9 days and I really want to take those pictures with my husband (we're newly weds). I don't know if my sister is playing dumb or she really don't remember anything. If anyone can recommend or have information on a particular professional photography place that'll be nice. Like I said, I'm only staying for 9 days and I know that should be the first thing to do when I get there. Please help!!!! Thanks.
Shadowing a professional wedding photographer? Do I need a degree first or can I just walk in and say "Hey, I wanna help you!" LOL I'm interested in starting a wedding photography business (in a few years of course) and everyone keeps telling me the first step is to assist a professional. How do I do that? And do I need a 4 year degree to even walk in the door? Thanks!
Are there any professional wedding photographers in westchester NY looking for a very parttime assistant/inte? i am a commercial photographer nothing huge, but i would like to get into wedding photography, and i know its much too intricate for me to just dash into it. i can;t seem to find any photographers that are willing to train another wedding photographer. I am available weekends and willing to work hard for little or no money at first. Can anyone help me out? I definitely understand the unwillingness to not train another competitor. but it would be ears before i am even near comfortable levels to do so on my own. and its a good assistant priceless these days?
What do Bride's look for in Wedding Photography? I've been a professional Wedding Photographer for several years. I've seen the trend move away from formal posed portraits to a more photojournalistic point of view. I've seem BIG hair, BIG viels and BIG sleeves make way for a more sleek and elegant look. And you BET that for my OWN weding this September that I'll be pretty picky about my wedding photos! (my wedding is being shot by my two best assistants.) What are The Rest of you looking for in your wedding photography? (and your photographer!)
How can I take professional wedding photos? I've been asked to take photos at a friends wedding reception. I'm not a professional photographer, but I do enjoy photography and have a Canon 20D camera with the standard 18x55 Canon lens, and a 28x200mm Zoom lens. I don't have any additional flash equipment, just what I stated here. The reception will be at dusk/night time. I want to get mainly candids, but I'd like them to be as professional as possible. Any tips or suggestions to think about? ...if I needed to purchase additional equipment, this is possible, but I can't afford $2000 lenses. You get the idea. ..just so everyone knows, they're not expecting miracles, and neither am I. I could just use some camera settings to try so I can get some decent shots in the light I have to work with. I will probably get an additional flash at least.
What basic equipment is needed for for wedding photography? I would consider myself a fairly serious amateur photographer and have mainly shot landscapes. My friend saw some photos that I had taken and asked if I could take her wedding pictures. I told her that I was in no way a professional and that I could not guarantee the "perfect" wedding portraits. She said that she knew that and wanted me to take them anyway. Now I am wondering what type of lighting and lenses would best suit wedding photography. I can probably think of some things but I just thought I would ask so that I don't miss anything that would make my pictures better than they would be otherwise. Thank you for your help.
Wedding photography business? I would love to start my own business doing wedding photography and offering portrait photography as well. I would love to hear how you started out if you have your own business, i really dont know where to start. I am at the stage where i am looking to buy a professional digital slr camera after coming to the end of my course using a 35mm film camera and i dont have a portfolio at the moment, any advice would be appreciated.
Would you trust a non-professional photographer for your wedding? I am not a professonal photographer by any means, however, I am always asked by family and friends to not only take their personal photographs but to do their wedding and event photography. They all say that I have a special talent and I Should have been a photographer and not a nurse. I do take some fantastic photos and have been thinking about offering my services for a fee. I have samples to show and would be upfront about being an ametuer. Would you trust your precious wedding pics to someone like me?
Do wedding photographers using digital cameras, let the couple keep the disc of pics.Under what terms usually? Can the wedding couple keep the disc of photos from a professional wedding photographer? Back with negatives, the couple would have to pay for the negatives, what are the traditional terms now with digital images? If they charge, how much usually. Does anyone have a general contract that the photographer uses for this? Can the couple demand the disc or ask for it? Will teh photographer offer it to stay competitive in light of new competition in among all the digital photographers? Any info you can give me on what is traditional or how the trend is moving during this time of transition from film to digital surrounding wedding photography, discs and film. photobooks etc would be much appreciated!

Wedding photography? I have an opportunity to shoot pictures at a wedding, and I was wondering if anyone has any experience in this and has any tips. I've never done this before (I've done portrait photography before, just not a lot), and I want to come off as professional...
Wedding Photography - UK? I am a professional award winning wedding Photographer and I have been trying to find some happy medium with prices and the services that I offer, so that I don't work at a loss all the time. I want to give a lot, but I also need to have a life as well, Each wedding is around 3 weeks work and I do mostly enjoy my work. So My question is: How much would you pay for your wedding photography and what would you expect to have for it? To give you an idea, wedding photography consists of Insurance, marketing and advertising, website updates and equipment. A wedding typically consists of: 2-3 Meetings several hours of emails and telephone calls A day preparing my kit The wedding day (12 hours) 4 Hours downloading and backing up the photos/video A week of photo editing Three days building a per view website and albums Two days album and image editing (as client requires) 4-8 hours making a slide show 2 hours ordering shipping packing and checking the albums when they arrive. A typical package would be a day shooting a wedding, all the digital negatives, a 70 page album with 70 pictures and a DVD slide show set to music. Thanks in advance - this is a UK only question
professionals please! competitor issues concerning wedding photography? Okay, I taught a friend how to use her camera and gave her some pointers on photography. She was supposed to help me shoot a rehearsal and wedding at a winery. She didn't show, which looked bad on me considering I had told the bride to expect 2 at the rehearsal and 3 at the wedding. Later she asked when my next wedding was and if she could help me with that one. I explained that after 2 times of leaving me hanging and making me look bad with a bride, that she would have to get her help else where. Low and behold she has opened a studio here instead of 300 miles away like she said she would. A potential bride called me and told me another photographer had a wedding price list exactly like mine and I had her to forward me the info. It was my (thought she was) friend's studio. I gave the bride a link to my online portfolio and the phone numbers of some past brides. Well, she gave me her credit card and booked her wedding. Now, what would you do about the other photographer? Well the good thing is, I have contracts going back over a year with what is on my price list. Her studio just opened. hmmm, fork her lawn. too bad she lives in an apartment. oh did i mention she shoots out of her home?
Average costs for professional wedding photo's....? I have a close friend who is trying to branch out on his own doing photography (mainly wedding) He has 10+ years experience. The company he is with now charges $15.00 per photo for a 4x6. This latest wedding he has done (on his own) he charged $8 per 4x6 photo. His client is complaining that that is too high, so he lowered it to $6. Can anyone with experience in this share what you believe are fair prices? Thanks!
Wedding Photography Business type of Printers Used? Im looking to start a photography business and wanted to know if it would be cheaper to send my dgital photos to a lab to get them printed out or buy a professional printer myself to print them out. If buying a printer would be cheaper what brand and model would be the best to use or which printers do the actual labs use to print their pictures?
How do you become a Professional Photographer? How do you become a Professional Photographer? I have finished learning for now, got 1 Diaploma in Photography, and someday I want to be a Professional Wedding Photographer. I haven't done a lot of work for money yet. My guess is you need to do a name search, then register it, and then buy a copyright license. What am I missing? Of course if you plan on making over $30,000 a year you need tax account, and charge the costumer aswell. Please also state if you are a proffessional photographer or not. Thanks for answering, I really don't know who else too aks!!!
Wedding photography information? I am heavy into photography and have been doing it for a while now. I'm an advanced amateur going to be shooting a wedding for my sister in December. It isn't going to be anything professional and I am not asking her for money. She said she loves my photos and the angles I take and my technique so she wanted me to shoot the wedding. I've never done wedding photography before, usually lots of portraits, landscapes, and action shots. What should I look out for and make sure I do while I'm shooting the wedding? I have spoken to my sister and she has told me what shots/kind of shots she wants for the wedding overall, so, I will have to go with what she wants for most of the shots. But are there any tips from wedding photographers out there? I am very interested in your insights, thank you in advance.
kodak z712 for starting wedding photography? A friend wants me to do her wedding photography. I am very comfortable taking pictures and I take good ones at that. I recently bought a Kodak Z712 that is really fun in that I can adjust some settings. The camera has a high ISO setting but no attachment for an external flash. If you are familiar with this camera should I stick with this camera or get one with an external flash? Is this even a good camera according to a professional? I think its pretty good. And one more question if I did this on the side should I still stick with this or what would be the minimum I could get away with in terms of another camera till I get more money? Batteries, memory, and case are not a problem either I have plenty for backup.
wedding photography-1st time? On saturday I am taking pictures at a wedding, my 1st time. well i was a '2nd' photographer at another wedding but i am a little nervous about being the only 'professional' there. does anyone have any advice for me or tips? i also have a question about the formal pictures--are brides supposed to be on a certain side? and is there an order to setting people up? HELP! thanks.
Wedding photographer? Getting married this year and i wanted to get a professional wedding photographer - but finace was recommended a photographer from a university that takes photographs for documentaries and books. She has only done a couple of weddings. Did not get to see all her work, but i was not impressed. Would you go ahead with this lady, or go for a professional that is only involved in wedding photography. Fiance said that he does not like photographers that boss people around and tell them what to do. I think that you do need a professional to tell you how to pose and they know what looks good. She is not a student. She works at a university.
cheapest wedding photography in estes park, CO? My friend is getting married in May in Estes Park, and it's a very low key, simple wedding. She's wanting a good photographer for as cheap as possible (not wanting to spend thousands or even hundreds of dollars if possible). She's been looking online for photographers but the cheapest she's found is one hour for $400, the rest are in the thousands. She'll be married outdoors at rocky mountain national park. Any ideas for a professional, affordable, quality photographer in that area? Thanks! she's having a really small number of guests too, like 10-20
What is the best Caribbean Island to work as a wedding photographer? I am a professional wedding photographer in the midwest. I've shot several weddings in the Caribbean and Mexico, and I want to move to the Caribbean in 2010 to pursue my wedding photography career. Originally I was thinking USVI because of the citizenship issues, but now I am also thinking Costa Rica because of the low cost of living. I want to make sure wherever I move will be a popular wedding destination so I can keep busy. Wherever I decide I'll go for 2-3 months next year to get used to the location, etc. I plan on working for myself, but am open to also getting a second p/t job somewhere on the island. Thanks in advance!
Wedding Photography question...... Would you let a novice photographer do your wedding photos if he/she had a great portfolio and lots of references? But he/she had not done a wedding yet? And it would be at a fraction of the "professional" cost. Including proofs and touch ups? And how much would you pay for such?
Wedding Photography Photo book? Okay so my wedding photographer stiffed me.. I am not getting an album which is a LONG story. So in the mean time I want to get an album somewhat professional looking. I know of LuLu.com, Shutterfly, and CVS/Walgreens, and so on. I am looking to make a hard cover photo book they all offer this but I can't seem to find a place that offers hard pages as well as the hard cover... Anyone with any help would be very much appreciated!! Thanks, Courtney
What should I include in my professional - personal photography domain name? I am thinking of what to call my new professional - personal photography website that will display galleries of my photos, offer various photography services, and provide 'news' about photography. I have a few ideas, but I wonder whether the word 'photo,' 'photographs' 'images' or something similar plus my own name should be combined in the domain name. I've also thought of something A. creative (for example, using the name of the Greek God of Imagery in the domain name--but practically no one will know what it means until they find the site). B. Something that sounds 'quality' like 'BobSmithgreatphotos.com (would that sound too 'lame' and pretentious?) C. Something like BobSmithphotos.com (would that sound too plain or generic because my photos are often experimental and edgy--and that domain might suggest traditional photographs like wedding photos or portrait photos?

wedding photography- how much does this stuff cost, anyway? Long story short. Boyfriend and I are eloping in Punta Cana in January at a beautiful resort. Professional photographer charges 250.00 for 14 pictures obscene or reasonable? the photos appear to be high quality. keep in mind i have NO idea what this stuff usually costs. Thanks guys!!!!! I can't find any photographers in dominican republic. only ones who will travel there. and they charge hundreds just to travel (understandably.) we only wanted to spend a max of 300 on photos for pictures of the ceremony and the candlelight dinner on the beach afterwards. nothing crazy. unreasonable? do any of you know any reputable dominican photographers? I can't find any on the internet...and the ones i find...their pics just look crappy =(
Photography? I love taking pictures.Of my dogs,my niece, nature, sunsets, you name it I've taken a picture of it. I was wondering what kind of camera do you need to have semi-professional pictures? What is the price range? And how can I experiment with photography without spending over $400 to see if I really like it? I would want to specialize in wedding photos,Portraits,High school Senior pictures etc. I know my way around paintshop pro very well, and I've done photo imaging in the past and I am quite talented. Any advice to break into this field would be appreciated!
How much should i charge for photography? I was recently offered a job as a photographer to take pictures of a wedding. My teacher recommended me to a lady getting married and It's just for an hour and they really don't have a professional photographer at their wedding. The bride wants me to offer a price, what should it be? So far people have been telling me a hundred. I also haven't started a portfolio but im i have an eye for getting good pics. I also haven't started a portfolio but im have an eye for getting good pics.
Do professional photographers use anything other than Canon or Nikon? I have been in the wedding video/photo business for over 10 years now, and I have NEVER see a professional photographer use anything other than Nikon or Canon. All of our equipment for photography is Canon (40D and 5D) with all L glass lenses, and all of our video equipment is Canon as well...GL2, XL2, etc... PART 2 of my question is...are all these other companies that make professioanl DSLR's out of luck forever? Like Sony's Alpha, and FujiFilm's Finepix, as well as Olympus, Kodak, and Minolta...do you think they only have a future in the home/amateur based market? "wedding" media isn't all we do...we do dorporate photography, school photo/video, etc...and everyone ther ealways has Nikon and Canon also. (usually Canon) oops, i meant "corporate" not "dorporate", lol why would i need to know anything about medium format cameras?? you make $5,000 a weekend just shooting DSLR/35mm, then who cares. lol LUCIEN - i guess what i really meant was artistic photography...wedding, portraits, glamour, nature, corporate, etc...not really medical imaging or crime scene phtography. Michael M - i do agree. even Nikon lens owners are jealous of Canon "L" glass/lenses
How much does it cost to hire a professional photographer from 9-5? My (older) sister has asked me to find out how much it is so she can decide whether to get it for my niece's Bat Mitzvah, and the reception. Please tell me how much it will cost in Philadelphia, PA (that's where they live). She wants the best pictures possible. Also, how much should we pay a friend of hers who is pretty serious about photography, and did another friend's wedding and the pics came out beautifully! He wouldn't need to be paid as much because he is not certified or anything yet, but he can use the pics to get into a photography school and to get other jobs. We would not mind that at all.
How much should I charge a friend to photograph her wedding? I'm an aspiring amateur photographer and have never done any professional jobs. I do photo shoots of my daughter and of friends kids but that's about it. I photographed my sister-in-laws wedding but I wasn't THE photographer for that I just did it to have the photos. I've been asked to photograph a friend of a friends wedding. It is very understood that I've never done any professional photography but that I want and am trying to get started. Cost is the key because they do not have alot to spend on this so I'm trying to find the cheapest way to do it. Photo's of the bachelorette party, the time in the limo to the church and reception and the wedding are wanted by the bride. The wedding is a little over 2 1/2 hours away from where I live and I'll have to be there for the whole weekend; Saturday and Sunday. I need some guidance on how I should come up with an amount to charge. The wedding isn't till Sept 2009 so I have plenty of time to book the hotel ahead of time so that it's cheaper on the couple paying. The camera that I'm using is: S770 3x Optical Zoom by Sanyo. At least that's the camera that I have right now. If I can get a better one before the wedding I will. I'd appreciate any suggestions on how to cut costs and come up with a reasonable price that everyone can be happy with.
I am shooting my first wedding this summer. I need some advice: what equipment should I purchase? Here is what I have to use: Canon Rebel xti dSLR, Nikon D40 dSLR, Canon EOS 300 SLR, short range lenses and one longer range lens. Tripod. I am considering purchasing a speedlight flash. I have photoshop and am very experienced using it. I just don't have a lot of experience with professional photography. I'd appreciate any advice or suggestions!! Thanks! The wedding is outdoors, but the reception is indoors. What might I need to buy to make this go over well?? I have plenty of time to buy what I need. Also, I hate to ask, but what should an amateur charge??
How difficult is the life of a professional digital photographer? And I'm referring to photographers who work on a regular basis (A photojournalist. A portorit photographer. A wedding photographer. etc.) What are some aspects (both positive & negative) of being a digital photography that most people don't realize? Details=10.
How to find inexpensive wedding photographer? I'm not looking for a professional, just someone who has had experience in portraits and knows their way around their own camera. Is there an easy way to advertise for this? I've thought about advertising at local colleges in like their art department where there might be photography students who need the experence and wouldn't be too expensive. Advertising at a grocery store or a gas station seems a little tacky. I've been on websites like flickr and photoreflect.com but the few promising photographers I've seen have not gotten back to me. Any other suggestions? Thanks!
Question for wedding photographers? Are you asked/required to have a backup camera? I am jumping into photography, I say jumping because I am buying very good professional equipment, I have a 5d mark 2, 4 L series lenses, etc on order. I'm getting all my orders EXCEPT the 5d mark 2 early next week. There is no timeline when I'll get the 5d mark 2, I ordered it last week through ritz, and seems it can be a few weeks to several months. If I really need a backup camera, or it will hurt business, and so I can start practicing, I was considering getting maybe a cannon 30D or 40D, something under $1,000 that takes good quality pictures, I can use my lenses on, etc. So in wedding photography, can you get away with one or will you loose business because they want piece of mind of a backup, AND which model would you suggest? Again I wasn't planning on getting a 2nd camera so quick, but I'm eager to start practicing and if I need a backup anyway, now is the time to do it while I await my 5d mark 2.
What do you think of this wedding photographer? http://www.shots.co.nz Steve is New Zealand's most expensive wedding photographer. He's also recognized by NZIPP (New Zealand Institute of Professional Photography) as New Zealand's top photographer having taken home a multitude of gold awards. On a scale of 1 - 10, I rate him about 11.5 and I rate myself compared to him as nothing - http://www.straightshots.co.nz The site you're rating is www.shots.co.nz Haha ok - that part about me being nothing - I know that's not true. I was just trying to stress how much I love Steve's images. But I know I'll be New Zealand's top wedding photographer one day... by the way, seamless, are you Vance? And are you a gal? If you are, sorry to have always thought you were a guy - you're avitar kind of gave me the wrong impression :-) Thanks everyone for the input. I had my thoughts about Steve's photography but I wanted to see what everyone else thought before I open my mouth. I'll talk about it in f-stops here after I delete this question - don't want Steve to actually see it... he lives in my area.
How much $ can I get for taking photos of a wedding? *How much I can be paid for taking pictures of a wedding?* I imagine at least $100. There are certain considerations, so read the backstory: I've never done any professional photography. Digital has been a hobby of mine for 7 years, since I was a teenager. I've just done family photos, nature, animals, flowers, etc. I like to think I have an eye. My latest camera is just a Nikon Coolpix P50. A few days ago an acquaintance called me, asking if I'd do her boyfriend's mother's wedding in June. It's at the bride's home, which is on the river. A local pro (small town area) quoted them $3,000 and that was too much for them. They know I'm not a pro, I'm completely honest about my inexperience. I've told them what camera I have and sent them some of my photos. We're still talking, still learning details. Also, my printer is nice for family photos, so I'd probably just burn the images onto a disc for them. Thanks in advance!
I am looking into getting a Nikon D40x, the 10.2 mp.? I would like to do wedding photography in my area. There are NO other wedding photog. services here so my lack of professional wedding experience will not be a huge turn away. Here, you either take them yourself, or you don't have them at all. I have a GREAT eye for photography and shot my brother in laws wedding with great results. I just want a starter camera and this one looks good. Anyone have any advice? I have been to picturetown on the NIKON web page. Also , is the 55-200mm zoom a good lens as far as depth and range? Thank you in advance for any answers. I would like comments on this camera only please as it is in my starting budget.
How much should we charge to photograph our neighbors wedding? One of our neighbors asked if my fiance and I would do the photography for their wedding. We are not professional photographers, but both have nice cameras and are really into photography as a hobby. I get the sense they are on a tight budget or wouldnt be asking us instead of hiring a professional. We are going to their house tonight to talk about what we would provide etc. How much should we charge them? And what types of questions should I ask? We are not that close with them and I feel she will be treating us more like vendors (the wedding is in Oct) than as guests who who will be invited to the wedding and just helping her out as friends. Any tips? Thanks!! I thought if we were invited to the wedding, eating dinner, drinking, dancing with them we would give it as a gift, but if she is treating us like vendors, meaning we will be working hard that night to capture everything and not enjoying ourselves as guests would then we should ask to be paid. It is not the money, but I dont want to feel taken advantage of either. We were thinking $300 for both of us. What do ou think?
What makes professional photos softer? There is a huge difference in some photograph's.. for example there is a big difference between these 2 photos: http://www.edgewater-lodge.com/images/Whistler_Wedding_Rings.jpg and http://www.adamsbrides.com/foto-matrimoni/avril/wedding_photographer_italy_.jpg The second one looks like it is taken out of a magazine, the first one looks like a regular shot.. What tools or equipment does one need to achieve the second pic and like these: http://digital-photography-school.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/07/wedding-photography.jpg http://www.envisionphoto.com/Wedding_Photography.jpg http://www.furiousphotographers.com/images/thumbs/index/ad1.jpg http://www.edge-photo.co.uk/portfolio/weddings01.jpg Is it the film, lens, photoshop? I am not talking about the composition but the quality and softness of the pictures. Please help..!! Thanks!
How much should I charge for amateur photography? A friend (and co-worker) has asked me to be the photographer at her May wedding. I like to take pictures and I do a pretty good job, but I don't have any formal training or experience. I have a digital camera which takes pretty good pictures, and would be transferring the pictures to disc to give to her. I have no idea how much to charge, though. I know it shouldn't be too much, since I'm not a professional, but I don't want to screw myself, either, because I can REALLY use the money. Please give me some suggestions! Thanks!
A question for wedding videographers? How do you cope with the abundant amount of people who thinks that video is not as valuable as photography in the field of wedding videography? Being a wedding videographer myself I find people telling me over and over again that any body can shoot a video, but photography is the art of professionals.
College Students Photography Class?? I was laying in bed thinking about my wedding and thought about having a college class do the photography for my wedding as like a home work project for them....Do you think it would be less expencive? And would the photos be just as good by them than a professional?
Question for all professional photographers? What is your opinion on how much a formal education impacts your photography career vs. how much experience itself impacts it? For the past few years, I have been planning on starting a career in photography, and have been going to a university the past couple of years for a photography degree. I do some paid work in my spare time, and have shadowed for a wedding photographer multiple times in the past. I would really like to focus on wedding photography. I am wondering if it might be better to obtain my associate degree and then try to focus on making more of a living on my photography. Is experience a better teacher than a formal degree? Thanks in advance for sharing your opinion!
do i have to have a degree to be a professional photographer? do i? I am in photography classes now but that's really all I am interested in. I really don't want to spend the time and money for a full degree if I don't HAVE to. I know that sounds bad..but I just don't. My hearts not in it. I want to take pictures. What I really want to do is photo journalism. But I think fashion and wedding photography would be awesome too. Anything...as long as I have a camera in my hands. Do I have to have a degree or a liscense or anything to do this? i meant my hearts not into sitting in math, history or other stuff like that...the other classes to get a degree. I'm VERY interested and passionate about the photography. And will do whatever it takes, even if I have to sit through 2 to 4 years of classes I hate.
How many wedding pictures do you usually get? I shot my cousin's wedding last weekend. They had NO budget & asked if I would do it. I am NOT a professional but i love photography & I thought I did a pretty good job, especially for the price $0 :o/ I took over 3000 pictures but most were doubles & some were unusable (closed eyes, too dark etc...) after editing they got over 450 pictures. Is that good? Is that too little? I feel like they were looking for more. I was there for about 7 hours. What is the norm for finished product pictures? Thanks in advance. :o) They got 450 edited pictures. I have a little over 3000 untouched pictures. I am gonna give them all of them. Thanks for all your help & kind words. You guys made me feel better. :o)
bridal houses/ studios in uk? we would like to have our wedding photos by professional. we wonder if the bridal house/ studios in uk provides not only professional photography but do they also provide gowns & suits to make - ups and hair - dos?
Shooting my first wedding in August.....what to charge? Here's allllll the info....I live in Virginia (if that matters at all), I'm 90% finished with my photography school (New York Institute) and I've already completed the wedding part of the school. The person who asked me knows that I'm not professional, this is going to be my FIRST wedding, she knows I don't have tons of fancy equipment. Truthfully I'm working with a student camera, Canon Rebel XTi which I'm going to show her. What to charge for this very first wedding since obviously it can't be a lot?
I need some ideas, suggestions, help.....? I asked this question before but didn't many responses so here i go again.... Okay my friend is getting married and when i saw her in her dress i asked if i could take some pics (Just a hobbie) of her i want them to come out good even though im just doing it as a hobby i still want them to look good. I've taken lots of portraits of my family but nothing like this. I just was wondering if i could get some ideas of where we should take some pics and also what color back drop (i already have black). Maybe some pose ideas. ect. Thanks for the help. Oh yeah her dress is white with a long train and her wedding colors are white and navy blue. These aren't meant to be professional pictures photography is just my hobbie and my friend is just letting me use her just because I don't expect to sell them to her or anything like that its just practice
Need serious professional help on this one pls.? I have been taking pic.s for about 8 yr.s now and I'm not going to say that I'm bad at it. My pic.s usally turn out pretty good but I have been asked to do someones wedding and even after I informed her that I was no professional and haven't even been to school for photography she still wanted me to do them. She said she has seen my work and it didn't matter to her how they turned out, so I agreed but I know as well that weddings are alot trickier to shoot. I don't doubt that I could do it but that I don't have much experience with changing the settings and I don't want to be fiddling with the cam. on the day of. I'm pretty good at being able to get a shot to come out but sometimes it takes a few trys. but the wedding is going to be outside so the question I guess is, is there any advice as far as what settings I should be using for the most part. I do plan on taking two cams. but would just really like to talk to someone about this.
