I really don't know much about wedding photography and I want to give them THE BEST. Any advice???? I normally do mostly wildlife/nature photography....so this is new to me.

want to start a wedding photography business. tips and advice please :)? hi im 19 and have this crazy idea that i want to be a wedding photographer :D i did a full time fashion course at college and also a part time photography course...went to do fashion at uni, then decided i wanted to be a photographer! lol so i know a fair lil bit about taking pictures and posing models. i know its best to become a pros assistant first before starting anything so ive mailed loads of photographers in my area but not one has got back to me :( i have also checked out wedding photography courses where you pay hundreds for a few days in a small group photographing pro models. but are these courses a good idea? i mean, they know how to pose ect. a real bride doesnt. i have thought about setting up a website and building up my own portfolio online. but im not really sure!! have my own nikon d40 camera and 18-55mm lens. have thought about hiring out the rest of the equipment i need for the moment. do not know anyone who is getting married yet. so would like some help!! xx
What is your best "secret", or "tip" for wedding photography? What is your fool-proof, can't-live-without secret that works for professional wedding photography?
wedding photography - urgent help and tips? my friend's mum has volunteered me (without asking me) to be the photographer at my friend's wedding in 2 months. The basis of her decision was that i am the only one she knows with a "fancy camera" (Nikon D40) and assumed i know what i am doing. WRONG! I am still taking photography classes and only been doing so for about 7months. I understand about ISO, Apertures lenses etc but i have never photographed a wedding before. Despite my best efforts i can't get out of this obligation bestowed upon me so my only choice is to learn how to photograph weddings (or do enough to wing it) in 2months. I don't think i'll need to do the formal shots, just ones where the bride is preparing, getting to the church, some ones of people eating cake etc and possibly a few group photos outside the church. Anyone PLEASE have links to websites, tips or a prayer to help me out? Thanks!
Photography tips for outdoor wedding please...? I am shooting a friends outdoor wedding in May (near Chicago) should be decent weather...was wondering if anyone has any good tips for me-I just got a new Sony DSC H-9 -8.1 Megapixel camera-and i was wondering if anyone has worked with one doing an event like this and has any good tips regarding some of the features the camera has to offer.. Thank you in advance... Excuse me Antoni-I have several years of photography school under my belt-i was just wondering if anyone had worked with this particular camera and had any tips for me for shooting an outdoor wedding-And FYI-they were not going to hire anyone because they could not afford it-so i am doing it as a favor-i am better than your typical wedding guest so-something is better than nothing. I love my SLR-i think 35mm is still the best way to go-this couple is not expecting ANYTHING so i will be able to give them what i can-i do have a friend helping me and i just got married in September so i know what i expected and wish to give them the same things i was aware of and wanted. Thank you all for your advice and there will be no virgins sacrificied for this project-LOL.

Tips for low-light wedding photography? Hello, I'm an SF-based wedding photographer. I've been dealt with almost every lighting situation possible, but I'm still really curious as to what other photographers do in low-light situations. I usually tend to shy away from using my speedlite flash as much as possible -- if I do I use a lumiquest softbox diffuser... but I'm looking for other alternatives... Do you use any special technique to achieve a nice photo without ruining it with flash? I shoot with a canon 30D and a f/2.8L 24-70 lens the majority of the time... the lens is really fast which helps... Looking forward to hearing your answers/suggestions!

Advice on wedding photography? My boyfriend and me have set up e wedding photography business and sp far have done one wedding which went well and have got a few lined up for next year. We would be very greatful for any advice and tips you may have?
Wedding photography information? I am heavy into photography and have been doing it for a while now. I'm an advanced amateur going to be shooting a wedding for my sister in December. It isn't going to be anything professional and I am not asking her for money. She said she loves my photos and the angles I take and my technique so she wanted me to shoot the wedding. I've never done wedding photography before, usually lots of portraits, landscapes, and action shots. What should I look out for and make sure I do while I'm shooting the wedding? I have spoken to my sister and she has told me what shots/kind of shots she wants for the wedding overall, so, I will have to go with what she wants for most of the shots. But are there any tips from wedding photographers out there? I am very interested in your insights, thank you in advance.

What is your best advice for other brides planning a wedding? Whether you are in the midst of wedding planning now, or were happily wedded years ago, what tips, ideas or advice can you share with other brides? What do you wish you had done differently, or what are you glad you did? What unique, personal touches did you include in your own wedding? Do you have any cool ideas on: party favors, wedding party gifts, bridesmaids attire, invitations/programs, child attendants, showers/bachelor(ette) parties, the ceremony/vows/etc, wedding cake, photography/videography, the honeymoon? (These are just 'prompts' to spark your memory - you don't have to answer them all!!) I am finishing my wedding planner/workbook and would like to include tips from real-life brides. Your input and ideas would be a huge help!!
will the Canon Speedlite 430EX suffice for a wedding? I am shooting my second wedding for pay and this time need to use my own flash and need to know if this will do the trick? Also could use any tips on wedding photography, thanks
wedding photography-1st time? On saturday I am taking pictures at a wedding, my 1st time. well i was a '2nd' photographer at another wedding but i am a little nervous about being the only 'professional' there. does anyone have any advice for me or tips? i also have a question about the formal pictures--are brides supposed to be on a certain side? and is there an order to setting people up? HELP! thanks.
Special Event Photography Scenario: So I've been playing around with and just read some tips on BOUNCE FLASH It warns that if you bounce the flash off of a colored wall, you're likely to get some color cast. My question is what would a pro do if you're at a wedding and want to use bounce flash but lets say the walls are bright red (unlikely but what if). My skill level : semipro meaning I get paid but clearly have a lot to learn.
Wedding Photography- FirstTime? Well, here is my worst fear. Someone asked me to shoot their wedding this weekend. I have avoided being the one pressured to give the client good photos for a wedding, I would rather go and enjoy myself, but for far to long I never did a wedding, but now it is going to happen. It is for my father in law, it is his friend, very very small wedding, reception in the backyard of their home, they don't even know I am doing it, it is his gift to them. I just want to do a good job. This is my dilemma, I have a Nikon D40 camera with two lenses: Zoom-Nikkor 70~300mm f/4~f/5.6G AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 18-70mm f/3.5~4.5G IF ED. That is what I have to work with. I know I can get some good photos, but I was just wondering if anyone out there has any tips or settings that could be used with those two lenses to get some REALLY good photos. Let me know. Thanks
Help with wedding photography lighting? So... shooting a wedding tomorrow in a not-so-ideal lighting situation. The event center is COVERED in windows around all sides, wrapping the building. The problem? My flash shoots straight out the window, losing all light and completely underexposing anything I am attempting to get a shot of. Obviously the ideal solution is to shoot without the flash, right? Well... there are a few problems. First, the wedding is a 6:00 p.m., meaning we may or may not get great sunlight. Second, we're expecting bad weather tomorrow... which, again, means maybe not such great sunlight. Anyone have any tips on how to achieve decent lighting under these circumstances, without having to bump my ISO all the way up? I'm not looking for a miracle, and don't expect anyone to have a catch-all solution, just any tips or tricks that you have tried that work under similar conditions... thanks in advance!
wedding photography advice? so i am photographing my friends wedding and i need advice i am using a digital camera but its one of those nice bulky ones its not like i dont know how to take pictures but i just want advice and i want to make sure i know what im getting into im going to practice before so any tips?? im doing my friend a big favor by saving her a lot of money and i want to make sure that i do as great of a job as possible and not disappoint her! ive photographed a birthday before but the pictures are on my old computer which i cant restore :( but the pics on this website are the quality pics i can do http://www.ianharing-photos.co.uk/warwickshire-wedding-photography.html
Wedding photos - studio photography? Has anybody else had their wedding photo done at a studio instead of at the wedding? Did you do this the day of the wedding or the previous or next day? Tips? I about dropped when calling around for pricing to have a photographer at my wedding. Even the lowest price is unacceptable since it doesn't even include any final photos (just proofs). I have no objection to people making a living - just doesn't fit in my budget. I have at least 3 people who could take photos at the actual wedding - they just aren't very skilled at portrait style photography. Next question - is it reasonable to put into the contract that I want the negatives after say, a year? I believe that is the only way to prove copyright if you later want duplicates and the photographer has gone missing or out-of-business or to do fun things (such as put us on a cup or a clock at Walgreens photo). Please note: my wedding budget is $2,800, so definitely not extravagant. Oops. ENTIRE wedding budget is $2,800. Just an FYI - we have only 30 guests. The cost of wedding and reception is going to be about $1,500. The remaining are the wedding rings and photography and whatever else I have forgotten. A larger budget is not possible as I'm buying a house in November and the wedding is just after Christmas.
good photography for a wedding? i really want o be a photographer, for weddings, but i need to know the best camera to get, if anybody know of any links to find a good camera, because i really need to start practicing, i know i can take good pics, i have been for a while, but i need the best camera i can get, and if anybody has any tips for a wedding photographer then please share thanks in advance for all your help :)
Amateur photographer shooting last minute wedding! HELP!? I am an amateur photographer who loves shooting landscapes and sunsets. I heard of a friend's friend needing a last minute wedding photographer, and offered suggestions as to whom to ask. Being last minute, no one was available, I offered my services, and they were so desperate that they accepted after seeing my landscape shots. I had planned on using my Canon Rebel s2000 that I have used for almost 5 years, and felt fairly confident about the job. Now they want me to use their digital camera, which I won't get access to until 18 hours before the wedding. I think finances were their determining factor in not using film, but I just don't feel as comfortable using a camera I'm not familiar with. Anyone have any tips or hints about wedding photography or dealing with the couple? Should I refuse to do the wedding unless I can use film? Thanks a bunch!
Live "Band" Photography... What lens to use? Any other tips? I've been asked to take some photographs for a small local record label. (it's a bunch of soloist hip hop and R&B singers) I've only been asked because I'm a friend with a decent camera. I'm not by any means a photographer! If anyone can help me further, it would be greatly appreciated! I need to purchase a new lens today/tomorrow (and pray it arrives in time for Thursday), as my trusty 18-55mm broke yesterday. I had planned on doing so anyway. I have a couple of projects coming up for friends. So, which lens should I buy? I have the 50mm f/1.8 AF D, which I have read is good for concert photography? What other lens could I buy which is affordable for someone who doesn't intend to go professional? I was hoping to spend no more than £200GBP, and would like it to come in use for other things (I have a wedding coming up, and also doing some portrait shots for the artists too, after the live gig, and take photographs daily of my kids), although this isn't a huge concern right now. My first project is the live gig, and that's what I'd like to focus on with getting the lens right. Does anyone have any tips for concert photography? I'm imagining with the dark room and available light always changing, it's going to be difficult, so I'd appreciate anything you guys can throw at me. Do I use a flash? Someone was horrified I didn't have one, but I thought the mood of the photographs would be better with the stage lighting? Should I buy one? Sorry, I use the Nikon D50
What are average incomes for beginers & near beginers for becoming a wedding photographer? I'm considering switching careers-- as an above avg photographer, the two things I'm lacking are the top end equipment & experience. Any tips... like finding a mentor wedding photographer? (i've been hired in the past for events by word of mouth photography, and sold other pictures, so I'm on track to be able to do this).
Tips on planning a cheap wedding?? My parents are giving us 5,000 to have the wedding. We're going to have it at the chapel on the campus where we both graduated college from, but as far as the reception goes, i'm completely clueless. I'll be wearing the dress my mom and grandmother wore, but change it a little because its very 80's, so i'm only anticipating paying for alterations to rework the dress. its going to be for around 120 people, and the reception can be kind of casual, extra formal isn't our style. we're not too concerned with a cake or anything either. a sheet cake will suffice lol. i would say the most important things that we want to spend money on are photography, some (not a lot) flowers, and the reception. any tips would help =)
How can I take professional wedding photos? I've been asked to take photos at a friends wedding reception. I'm not a professional photographer, but I do enjoy photography and have a Canon 20D camera with the standard 18x55 Canon lens, and a 28x200mm Zoom lens. I don't have any additional flash equipment, just what I stated here. The reception will be at dusk/night time. I want to get mainly candids, but I'd like them to be as professional as possible. Any tips or suggestions to think about? ...if I needed to purchase additional equipment, this is possible, but I can't afford $2000 lenses. You get the idea. ..just so everyone knows, they're not expecting miracles, and neither am I. I could just use some camera settings to try so I can get some decent shots in the light I have to work with. I will probably get an additional flash at least.
How do you get some magazine press for your business? I am trying to get some magazine to publish some press/article on my wedding photography business located in Los Angeles. Any tips? Do I approach the editor? How?
amateur photography for a friends wedding!? ? I already posted this once. I want positive feedback because my friend doesn't want anyone else but me. This is my FIRST wedding, and first real photo shoot. I have told her this and she says she doesn't care. She doesn't have $500 - $5000 to spend on a photographer. She is 18 years old with two twins and a family to support. Therefore, I just want to help her out. How much should I charge her? Should I just charge her for film etc because I don't want any money out of this what so ever? And are there ANY tips for me? Trust me I've begged her not to let me do it because its such a special day for her but she insists that I do it. SO TIPS POSITIVE CRITICISM IS APPRECIATED :)
How much does it cost for a top notch website? I want to have a wedding photography website. I can do it myself. But, I want a very impressive and professionally designed website. How much do you think, I need to spend? And also please give me some tips on whom to choose for this job. Thanks
Wedding photographers: Are you guys just a different breed? I did my second wedding yesterday. The first was absolutely perfect, (Beach wedding) and the pictures turned out gorgeous. The second one was a friend of my hubands that was having a quick, thrown together wedding. They didn't have, and couldn't afford a photographer, so he volunteered me to do it for free. I don't mind, I'm wanting to expand to wedding photography anyways (I've done studio and outdoor portraiture for 5 years). This was WAY different. The wedding was inside of an ugly building with no natural lighting. So... my new flash was important. We figured that if you turn it up a bit, it bounces of the ceiling and you have no ugly shadows. I never thought about what would happen if I turned the camera sideways. (Duh) it goes into the next room, and I have no light. Not to mention, the flash took 10 seconds to recharge. All in all, it was a disaster. If I was charging, I would bury myself right away. Thank GOD they had an uncle with a good camera that got some decent ceremony pictures. The posed ones were fine (except I was pretty much demoralized by then, and, it was wet out, so they were all in the ugly building). How do you deal with those types of lighting situations? I mean, if it was portraiture, I would go all natural with a tripod and remote, no flash. But this is a WEDDING! You can't just stop everyone to take a picture! Number 1 Problem: Flash took forever to recharge, camera took too long to meter. Should I just plan on leaving this area alone (except for beach, and very well lit weddings) until I buy some studio lighting? Even then, is it kosher to set up studio lighting that will be used during the ceremony? Or should I just buy a faster camera and external flash? Also... Do you ASK the bride and groom to hold certain poses, like the kiss, etc... so you can make sure and get several pics of it? Is that polite? Any tips would be great. Now I know why wedding photographers charge so much :-P I have SO much more respect for you guys now. I'm not ready to give up and stick to portraiture, I really want to stick this out and do the occasional thrown together wedding for free or REALLY until I've got it down pat. But yeah, any tips would be great. How could I have better handled that with my equipment?(Olympus E-300 DSLR, Promaster 5750DX flash) Or, should I just avoid that type of situation until I get new equipment? Thanks! I don't want to shoot you :-) Lol.. but what makes you a professional? Experience? That's what I'm trying to get here. I don't think that I SHOULD be charging until I am very experienced with wedding photography. Not to mention, I didn't have a wedding photographer. We couldn't afford it. I don't mind helping people out just so I can gain my experience. I just hate it when the photographers on this board get so condescending. *Sigh. Yes, I'm a nube, but 5 years in photography is a decent background. I think that I just might end up apprenticing on wedding photography until I feel more comfortable with it, and I'll do my own portraiture. But yeah, thanks for the advice :-) Yeah, I think you're right on the equipment thing. I need a NIkon, not $300 ebay Olympus with two lenses and a macro set. It might work for portraits and Macros... But yeah, weddings are a whole new ballgame. I need something FASTER.
Where can i take the best in-budget in-studio wedding pictures in LA. ??? Actually am looking for an in-store wedding photography studio where they provide me&my husband with some wedding outfits to try out and have pictures taken in them.We thought of doing it again for for our 1st Anniversary. We have been to Temple City(near Pasadena) to checkout the prices. But they were like overpriced for me.Their regular price comes around $1200 for an 12x15(20)photos, 20x24(1)portrait, soft-copy of those selected 20 pics. So can some one tell me where can i find such studios within my budget of $800 in and around LA. Or can some one suggest some tips regarding this.
How much am I supposed to tip wedding vendors? How much should I tip for each vendor or should I have to - I do feel their services are all quite expensive and most of them have not been that great. Getting married soon. Thank you. String quartet playing 1 hr for $600 Makeup/hair artist $360 for 3 people Photography $3200 (Photographer & assistant cover the wedding and did an engagement session) The photography has been underwhelming with few good pictures, and the photographer has been hard to reach. Banquet/Wedding Coordinator (more of a Day of coordinator) DJ/MC team $150/hr (they have been behind schedule in helping me) Officiant $350 for services & counseling - he kind of acted like a diva and was more preferential and respectful to my fiance. Chair Covers vendor - do we have to tip him? He was actually pretty good compared to the rest of the vendors. Thank you, this is a very confusing time for me. I appreciate your suggestions. Also, I want to save money due to economic conditions, but I want to be fair too.
Wedding Photos for Beginners? some friends of mine have asked me to do their wedding photos at the beginning of next year, but the thing is, although I took a photography course a few years back, im still only learning about photography. I want to advance in photography to help in my career choice and it would be great for my portfolio. I have told them that I’d like to do it, but im real nervous that I’ll screw them up or do something wrong, and wedding photos need to be perfect. The engaged couple and all my family believe that I can do it, and reassured me that I will be taking lots of photos and there is no chance that I can screw them all up. That case aside, it’s still really scary to be doing something which will be so important. is there anyone out there who is a photographer or knows a bit about photography that can give me some pointers and tips about doing these types of photos, and what type of things should I make note of when taking the shots. It would be great if you can help!
Can anyone help me with customer sales tips? I've never been good at sales especially over the phone, however I took on a job for a wedding photography studio booking appointments from leads not really understanding how aggressive I have to be in order to get people in the door. My whole job depends on how many people I bring in the door so if anyone can help me, I'd really appreciate it. I'm especially having trouble with these answers..... 1."I think the packages are too expensive" 2."My wedding is not until next year and I think I should wait" 3."I have to check with my fiance because I work during the day and he works at night, I don't know when we could come in." My presentation is mainly this... "Hello my name is_______and I'm calling from_____photography! We met you at the bridal show and I am calling to invite you to our showroom so we can chat about your wedding photography! What works better for you, day or evening times?"....this is a scripted message they gave me, although they said I could make it my own. OH! I forgot to mention they don't do Fri, Sat or Sun appts since that's wedding time. But they do as late as 7:30pm appts. Thanks again!
Photographing a Wedding.? I'm 17 and love photography. My friend's mom is having a wedding in a week and she asked if she could hire me to take the pictures. I agreed but I have no idea where to start. The wedding is going to be outside under a gazebo. I don't know when I can move around in the front to get just the right shot or how to direct a large group photograph. Any tips or suggestions?
How much should we charge to photograph our neighbors wedding? One of our neighbors asked if my fiance and I would do the photography for their wedding. We are not professional photographers, but both have nice cameras and are really into photography as a hobby. I get the sense they are on a tight budget or wouldnt be asking us instead of hiring a professional. We are going to their house tonight to talk about what we would provide etc. How much should we charge them? And what types of questions should I ask? We are not that close with them and I feel she will be treating us more like vendors (the wedding is in Oct) than as guests who who will be invited to the wedding and just helping her out as friends. Any tips? Thanks!! I thought if we were invited to the wedding, eating dinner, drinking, dancing with them we would give it as a gift, but if she is treating us like vendors, meaning we will be working hard that night to capture everything and not enjoying ourselves as guests would then we should ask to be paid. It is not the money, but I dont want to feel taken advantage of either. We were thinking $300 for both of us. What do ou think?
I've been hired to photograph my first wedding.? I'm photographing my first wedding Saturday. I would classify myself as an experienced amateur. I'll be using a Canon Digital Rebel XT with battery grip (I have two proprietary battery packs), and an external Canon flash. The battery grip allows me to swap out the proprietary packs with AA's in the event that these are used up. I have approx. 10 sets of rechargable batteries, a 4 gig and a 1 gig compact flash card. I'll be bringing chargers with me in order to recharge batteries on the fly if necessary. I'll also bring my laptop to transfer photos to if I happen to fill up my cards (pretty sure I will). I also bought an extra pack of standard alkalines (20 pack) that can be used to power both the flash and camera if I need to. All batteries will be fully charged on D-Day. I need the advice of anyone who has done wedding or large event photography. Do I have enough power to get me through an all day affair? Also, I would appreciate any technical tips or general advice from those that have done it. Any tips appreciated. Thanks!
Photography Question? I am going to be the photographer for a wedding in a month or so and I have never done it before. Any tips or suggestions would really help. Thanks.
I am Starting a photography/videographer Business....and I need to know exactly how to do it and start.? I am starting this business with my sister who is at school for photography and I am a videographer who is going to school for videography and I need to know how to price things and some advertisement tips? as well as certain equipment that we will need? We have a nikon d12 for the photography and we need a good camera for the videographer any Ideas or suggestions would be nice. We will be video-graphing weddings and special event taking pictures for senior pics, wedding pics, special event stuff any tips on starting and doing would be great.
Shooting First Wedding!!!? I will be doing my first wedding shoot on Saturday. I am COMPLETELY an amatuer photographer, and the bride and groom (and family) understand that. I made no promises of perfection, lol. What i'm looking for are some suggestions for posing the members of the bridal party and their family. Does anyone know of a website I can look at? Also -- i'll take any tips I can get!! I'm so excited, but i'm nervous too! I think I have a good eye when it comes to photography, but when it comes to the technical side of it all -- i'm pretty clueless. I'm not ashamed to admit that, which is why the family is aware of it. But anyway -- thanks for your help!!! Antoni -- here's my equipment. I don't have too much (mainly because I don't have the $$ right now), and I know it's probably not the "proper equipment" for wedding photography...but... Camera - Canon Digital Rebel Xti Lenses I Have - Canon EF 35-80mm F/4-5.6 and Tamron 80-210mm F/4.5-5.6 Lens - just what is built into the camera. I know I need to purchase an additional one. Like I said, I know it's probably not ideal equipment -- but it's all I have right now.
Wedding Photographer was a little too flash-happy :o( What can I do? Hi, I am an amateur photographer, so I have a bit of experience with Photography and Post-Processing. I recently got Married and just got my Wedding Photos back last night. My Photographer had assured me she had shot many Weddings, gave me some examples (which weren't amazing, but were good, so I had assumed that after showing her what I wanted, she would be able to use other techniques to give me a great finished product), and told me all about her art career, experience, etc. She had absolutely no idea what she was doing. Here are the problems: - 99.9% of the photos are completely washed out from the HUGE flash she used. Some of the people don't even have faces. She made no use of any natural lighting, so I can't even utilize that in Photo Shop to fix ANYTHING. None of the photos have ANY depth of field-is that even possible with a D-SLR? Basically, as far as I can tell, there is nothing I can even try to do with these photos to make them decent, and I'm looking for some help. Can anyone out there give me tips on fixing this, or even an answer as to why they are so bad (depth of field, etc.)? She is a friend of my Mom's so I can't exactly go ape-sh*t on her, so I don't really know what to do. Answers from Professional and Wedding Photographers are also GREATLY appreciated. Thank You. I just want to thank all of you who have already answered, you all have so much knowledge and it is really nice to hear from professionals and amateurs alike who truly do care about their work and the final product they present to their clients.
Never been to a wedding and I'm getting married, can you help? What all is involved in a wedding? What arrangements need to be made? Do you have money-saving tips? Who pays for what? We're planning on getting married in my fiancee's home-town in PA, where most of his family lives. My family is in Austin, TX. I plan on paying for my brother and grandmother to be at my wedding, the two most important people, but only for their flights. We're getting married in his church that he grew up in. Speaking of which, what do I need to do to marry a Catholic? Do I have to become Catholic? If so, not a problem. I'm all for it. I am looking for a dress, not expensive. I don't want to pay $300 to $500 on a dress I'll only wear one day. However, I found the PERFECT dress for $599. SUGGESTIONS on other web sites or places to look? I'll probably look for someone to make the cake and invitations. Might have a friend do the photography. What else is involved in this? And help on what colors to choose and how to choose them? The wedding will be April '09.
Advice for Shooting a Wedding? Hey, My cousin is getting married in August and she asked me to be the photographer. I haven't photographed a wedding before. I've done my sister & cousin's senior portraits and mostly landscapes/macro photography. I am kinda nervous about it!! I currently have a Canon S3IS, I don't have any filters yet, I am planning on getting some though. Do you guys have any tips?? I can use everything you got! Also, any sites-for good poses for the bride & groom, wedding party and all that... (the wedding will be outside on the "farm" the bride grew up on-then the reception in the pole shed-so it isn't extremely formal, but it will be formal) Thanks! I'm doing it b/c she asked me to. She knows I haven't done anything like this before. Plus, I'm free of charge; a pro isn't. I like the tagging along w/ a wedding photographer before hand-thanks-I'll have to do that!
How should a plus-sized woman apply makeup for best results in outdoor and indoor photos? My wedding reception is coming up in a few weeks. I am a big girl with very fair skin. In outdoor photos and flash photography I tend to white out and look like a marshmallow. What can I do to avoid this without looking like Divine? Does anyone have a helpful link or tip on how to look slimmer without looking very "made up?"
Gratuity on a wedding package? My fiance and I are getting married on July 5th, 2008. Yay! We're having our wedding at a wedding chapel downtown. It's a package, the chapel, reception ballroom, flowers and photography, decorations and a DJ. It's a set fee of roughly 6,000 dollars. We were impressed with the price and VERY impressed with the accomodations. So since it's a business with a set fee do we tip? We know to tip the caterer, cake bakery and any other vendors but we aren't sure if we tip the business. We've met with them 3 times so far and they haven't mentioned a tip and it's not in the contract anywhere. We're meeting with them again next week and I'm going to ask but I'm just curious.
I'm planning a wedding!!!? My budget is only $4,000... Any ideas on what I should skimp out on or what I can save on? Any tips? I have the hookup with photography, videography, and location. I'm just wondering whether things like favors are even worth getting... Let me know asap!
Make up artist's in Essex? Hi! I really want to work as a make up artist. I have worked as a model for 3 years and often get to have a go and help the make up artists out! I have studied art and worked in a cosmetic store. (not to blow my own trumpet) but i am really good with make up, its also my passion so it makes sense that i should get a job as a make up artist! Are there any make up artists out there that would be happy to have someone work with them? Or anyone with any tips. I would train, although i don't really agree that this is what you need to do to become a make up artist. I am interested in doing wedding/occasion makeup and photography make up. any helpful tips would be great :)
Photographer's Assistant? Just wondering if there's a photographer in the area of Saskatoon, SK that I would be able to join you on an event; engagement photos, wedding, birthday party, etc.... Currently I am working with a photography company; doing portraits. I would like to get hands-on experience in a natural settings. If anyone has any ideas also of how I could even begin the daunting feat of becoming such a photographer- any tips would be very much appreciated! Thanks, Jamie.
How do you feel when people ask questions about wanting to know what camera to buy in order to take pro shots? ...... or become a pro wedding or other type of photographer and then go on to say that they have little or no photography knowledge. (Or worse, I am shooting my first wedding next week, what camera should I use / any tips ?) Why do people seem to think good camera equals good photos. It would be like saying good paint brushes equals automatically good paintings. I have only recently graduated to an slr after exhausting the possibilities of my point and shoot, I have learnt much but am still very much on the steep side of the learning curve. and have much more knowledge and experience to gain. Is it our "I want everthing know and perfect" society that leads people to believe they can become pros simply by having the right equipment. Does this bother any of the pro photographers who post here ? I ask this as I have noticed the amount of "I want to be a pro, what camera should I buy ?" questions I have seen here.
needing advice - Weddings - Nor-Cal - DJ's, decorations, etc.? Ok, my fiance and I are planning our wedding. We have the place figured out, and the color's as well. We know what date. We have a $6,000 budget to work with (place is free, so it cuts the cost down). The Wedding will be in Rancho Murieta, CA. (near Sacramento). So does anyone have some good tips on how to save money on the wedding and still allow for it to look classy? Like saving money on photography, the cake, dj, flowers, centerpieces...stuff like that.
Do YOU KNOW what you are talking about? I am 16. I am exploring my different options for a career... Photography has been a big interest for me. My sister's friend was talking to her about a wedding photograher and told her about me... she also saw some of my work. So, I am photographing her wedding. Do you professionals, or even amatuers have any pointers or tips for this event? I have never dont anything like this... where I'm not just goofing off... I'm nervous... but EXCITED. Thanks for the help! God Bless. Thanks, Steve.... for bringing me down. It sounds like you are questioning my abilitly and knowledge... without knowing anything about my artistic capabilities. I apologize if you thought I was being rude to Steve... I dind't mean it like that. It is hard to interpret words on here. You never know HOW people are saying things... by the way... the question was just to get your attention so you would see my question. I apologize Steve... I need that constructive criticism... it was just a few parts I may have misinterpreted. :) Shane, the will know I am 16. People will actually think I am younger... I look 12.
SD Card Question? Camera up to 6MP 1GB = How many shots 2GB = How many shots Got a wedding & Holiday in Africa, want to know whether 1GB or even 2GB will be sufficient. Also, any tips for good photography, and minimizing the size Nikon S6 - Is the camera!
Wedding photography tips? Can anyone give me tips for wedding photography: getting started, equipment, technique, what people are looking for, lighting, what kind of photos to take...etc. Anything would be helpful, I'm interesting in doing some weddings this summer. Thanks!!
Wedding photography tips? In a few weeks I am photographing a friend of the family's wedding. I have done other weddings in the past, but this is the only one where I actually know the people personally. It is a small ceremony in their parents' backyard. Any tips on poses or anything else would greatly be appriciated. The backyard is by woods, and they have a brick patio with a small waterfall (man made) and a lot of wildflowers. The ceremony is at 2pm, and the couple is very casual. Hope someone can help.
Sucessful Studios: What is the single most helpful thing you have done to build business in the past year? I was a graphic artist for about 20 years. I hired into a wedding and senior portrait photography studio as a retouch artist for 2 years. During that time I made the switch to photography and sort of managing the studio. I struck out on my own and have a small studio with low overhead in an artists community in a smaller market. What I really want to focus on is headshots for actors and artistic photography such as the body painting shots on my website. www.lennoxstudios.com So the question is how do I get the right clients who can afford me to travel to this location (1 hour west of Detroit) and then tell all their friends about me? Additionally, ANY workflow streamlining tips for a one person studio would be appreciated. I have tried having assistants, and they help for a minute and then turn out to be a liability with lost or not ordered images and/or sloppy retouching. Can anyone suggest a never-fail retouch and colorcorrecting lab? Also any website criticisms would be great!
Weding pictures? Hello, I am an amateur photographer, and my friend just asked me to do the photography for his wedding, which is in July. I was wondering if anyone had any tips or advice to share about prepping for the big day and on that day. It will be at a beach also. Thanks!
Wedding Photography? I am trying to start free lancing with wedding photography. The camera I am using will be a Nikon D80 with Photshop CS2. Can anyone give me any suggestions on what lens, flash and anyother things i could use for this, Aswell as any tips or techniques on shooting and editing.
Wedding photography? I have an opportunity to shoot pictures at a wedding, and I was wondering if anyone has any experience in this and has any tips. I've never done this before (I've done portrait photography before, just not a lot), and I want to come off as professional...
Wedding photography? I have recently been asked by my photography professor to shoot his friends wedding... but I've never done one before. Although my teacher says he's quite confident in my ability, I'm still rather nervous. Does anyone have some tips for me? Also, the gig only pays $150, but it's about a 70 mile round trip for me to drive there and back. (I drive a jeep, meaning I'm really only making about $100 or less on the deal.) My teacher is pushing me to ask for more gas money, but I'm rather shy about those things and I'm unsure how to go about it. Suggestions? I have recently been asked by my photography professor to shoot his friends wedding... but I've never done one before. My teacher is has told me that I need to ask them about more money, but I'm rather shy about those kinds of things and I don't know how to word it. amateur photographer shooting last minute wedding!
How do you get some magazine press for your business? I am trying to get some magazine to publish some press/article on my wedding photography business located in Los Angeles. Any tips? Do I approach the editor? How?
