Would it be weird if I wore a party dress to my wedding instead of a traditional wedding dress? We have decided to have just a reception, and a small private wedding. But would it be weird for me to wear a party dress to the wedding?And take pictures in that dress? The wedding dress probably would end up in the back of the closet anyway. What to wear to after wedding party? We are getting married at 2 pm in a hotel and we have the reception room and DJ until 7pm. Because its a small wedding of only 35 guests, approximately 16 of them will also be getting rooms that night at the hotel. How to ask the wedding party? Is it rude to ask the wedding party to buy their own dresses and tuxes? I am on a very tight budget--and my friends are as well. Since I know that they are also on a tight budget I am afraid to ask them to purchase their own clothing. I have not yet asked them to participate in the wedding because of this dilema. It is considered a "Garden Party" type reception,yet the dress is to be "dressy formal". The reception begins at 5:00 pm into the evening. I'm a bridesmaid, the wedding is 5 mths away, and the dresses are $700! Has the bride gone overboard on us? I understand the tradition of the wedding party paying for their attire, but some people don't even pay $700 for their wedding dress. I think it's really ridiculous to ask us to pay that much for a dress and see no problem with it. She notified us on a Saturday that she made her selection and told us the money was needed in full by that same Friday. How do I deal with this, or should I opt out of being in the wedding party?? She's marrying an NFL player, who is my best friend. Let's just say the proposal and wedding date both happened fast.
