Popular Wedding Dance Music Knowledge Base
What is the name of that popular Indian dance song I hear at wedding receptions? I used to photograph Hindu weddings, and at every reception, they would all go nuts when this one song came on...Indian language over this really strong beat...Eastern and Western music mixed together. There's no English in the song whatsoever, and it was always their favorite. Well, I love that song too and I want to know what it's called so I can get it!
What are some popular Christian dance songs?? My fiance' and I wish to have some Christian dance music at our wedding reception. We're into Toby Mac, Hawk Nelson, Kurt Franklin, Reliant K. etc. We're looking for specific titles to listen to first, so please do not just list the artist. Please feel free to list as many songs as possible. Thanks!
What is a good mother/son dance song for my wedding? I'm looking for some song ideas that aren't trite or cliche', like most of today's popular music. I'd like something smart, and maybe a little funny. Something unique. For the most part I like guitar driven alternative music, but I'm open to all genres. I was recently at a wedding where the father/daughter dance was Kermit the Frog's "Rainbow Connection." It was brilliant.

What is the most original or unique first dance song at a wedding that you've heard of? I've been thinking about my first dance song a lot lately. For a while I was set on U2's "All I want is you." But I've heard that's become pretty popular and it's very difficult to dance to, both of which make me second guess using that song. So I started searching for other people's first dance songs or just recommended wedding music, and I came across someone who danced to "Crash," by Dave Matthew's Band. That is very original to me! Not my fav band, but very interesting choice. So what is the most original first dance song you've heard of? (Please stick to the Rock genre, or contemporary Pop genre, if possible, or I won't know what you are talking about).
Good punjabi dance for wedding? i hope Punjabi music is more popular in the UK&Ireland than America.... Basically, i will be going to Punjabi and want to perform a punjabi dance for my cousin's wedding...(i can come up wit the dance moves but open to tips) First of all, the reason why i decided to ask the UK & Ireland region is b/c i no that there are more Punjabis here, second of all, i am not asking for what outfit to wear, and third of all, all i want is a song title, not other advice on how to dance and how to look.... Thanks to all those u r actually answering my one question...!
unique wedding reception idea: thoughts? for my ideal wedding reception, i want your typical party with a live band and lots of dancing to some of today's popular music and such. my fiance and i are taking dance lessons in preparation for our wedding (thank goodness!). would it be unique if during one part of the ceremony we came out onto the floor and danced a salsa dance? we were thinking that i would change into a shorter dress that's easy to dance in and that he would change his vest to match the color of my dress. we think it would be a really unique way to spice up the reception even more. afterwards, i would be more than happy to get back into my wedding gown and boogie some more. maybe we would start the dance first and of COURSE everyone is more than invited to join in, even if they can't salsa dance! just dancing to the music would be fun! what do you think? p.s. I modified this question and some people have come up with some great answers already! Thanks!!!
Help me with my wedding music!? I need about 25 more songs that people will be able to dance to. I'm not having a DJ, my brother is just burning me some cds. But I need more. PLEASE HELP ME!!!! I want mostly country, but i also like classic rock too. Anything people will be able to dance to pretty much. Stuff thats popular. Thanx-
Looking for country music to play @ my wedding? I am getting married on June 21, 2008. We are having a country wedding and we want to have our "main' songs to stay country (ceremony, preceremoney, first dance....) I have a few songs but I need more. I'm trying to find more current ones and ones that arent so popular.....(Tim and Faith......) Thanks for your help in advanced!
First Dance Song? We are having a pretty traditional, yet modern wedding. I'm unsure about what my reception music. Our bridal party/intro song will be something like, "Let's Get the Party Started" (or whatever that song is called) by the Black Eyed Peas. I orignally wanted our first dance song to be "Bless the Broken Road" (again, whatever it's called) by Rascall Flatts. However, I really love "At Last" by Etta James. It's just an amazing song. However, I feel like compared our other more "modern" music....it will seem out of place. During dinner, we plan to have typical love songs from the 70's, 80's and 90's. For the dancing part, I plan on having a mix of today's popular music and party favorites. Some older songs from the 70's for our parents, aunts and uncles...etc. Our garter toss...is Justin Timberlakes, "SexyBack" So, as you can see. We are having a very modern music list. Will this one "older" song be very out of place. Also, please don't tell me..... "It's Your Day" I really want people's honest opinions on how this would fit in with the rest of our music. We aren't having a theme either.
When you listen to a song you've not heard before, what are you primarily listening to? The voice? The tune? The drums, etc? Are you trying to label it, put it in a category? Are you listening to the lyrics? How quickly do you know if you like a song or not? Within 10 seconds, within a minute? How many times do you have to hear a song to decide you like it? Can you even generalise about such a thing? The psychology of music is a wonderous thing. Why are certain songs capable of evoking such powerful memories, when others are so forgettable? Why is 'Angels' the most popular 'first dance' wedding song? Stop me if I'm going on a bit....
Dealing with a DJ at a wedding, how specific can I get with which songs I want? My fiance and I have very strange taste in music, and now that we want to hire a DJ we are wondering just how much say we will have in what music to play. Every wedding I've been involved in the planning of (bride's maid, daughter of the bride) they have had bands and get to be pretty specific but off a list. I'd like to be able to control about 90% of what they play, mostly jazz, Rat Pack, some newer and popular stuff, some classic wedding songs, but there are certain songs I DON'T want...like the Chicken Dance or that weird country-techno song (forget the name). I want people to be able to ask for something that means something for them...but want to be keep the feeling of the wedding relatively consistent. Is this possible? Will they do this?
Wedding getting closer... still need help w/ some songs...? The other day I yahoo'd for some help choosing songs to play at the dance after a wedding. (spanish) Cumbias are always fun. Looking for some classic love songs to dance to. (80's-new) The artists given to me from my last question are as follows... A few I've heard.. others, mabye I'm wrong, but seem more like upbeat driving music and not really something to dance to. Are there any particular songs I should look for or does anyone have any new reccomendations? REYLI Carlos Vives alberto pedraza Joan Sebastian pepe Aguilar Natalia Oreiro La Sonora Dinamita Fulanito Sin Bandera Reik Fito Olivarez Sonora Santanera Alejandro Sanz David Bisbal Gipsy Kings I need some song TITLES because some of the more popular artist have hundreds of songs to their name. Thank you all !
Modern Rock First Dance Song help? I am looking for a first dance song for my wedding. I want a modern rockish song that is clearly about love. Something along the lines of Lifehouse/3 doors down.... but not them. I am not really familiar with this kind of music, so i could use some help with songs and artists. It would be great if it wasnt super popular songs, i want something a little less used. Thank you!!!
Can you help me pick a song for our first dance? We are looking for something a little bit different than the standard wedding songs, maybe a nice slow song that hasn't been out on the radio...definitely no country music though (that includes Amazed by Lonestar, we both hate that song). Is there any song that you really love and that has perfect lyrics for a first dance song? My fiance likes Bryan Adams "Everything I do" but I'm not sold on that. Technically, "our song" is This I promise you by NSync (cheesy, I know, but we started dating in high school when that song was popular!) but I don't want that to be our first dance song.
What are your thoughts on a dj who doesn't speak at all vs one who mingles among guests forcing them to dance? It seems like the latter is more popular and easier to find. But if you and your guests aren't comfortable with that kind of thing, and prefer the dj to not speak, is there anything wrong with that? As a guest, is it not as fun? In my experience, guests are more likely to want to dance if they aren't being forced. I was talking to one bride awhile back whose wedding I attended, who was upset because she didn't want any audience participation, etc. She just wanted them to play music and they agreed and were more than happy to accomodate her. Then come the wedding day, it was all about audience participation and dj interaction. How do you find someone who will actually follow through with any requests you may have and not surprise you at the last minute? I've seen Ipod weddings done with bad experiences which is why we don't intend to go that route. Plus a dj is able to choose music that the crowd responds to and not play what they don't. You can't do that with preset music. Basically, if you kept the dj to play music but nix the MC because it would make your guests uncomfortable, would the party feel dull to you as a guest?
Calling All DJays...? I am making my own cd's for my wedding reception music. I was curious as to how I should order the songs in lieu of tempo. I'm playing big band/swing instrumentals during dinner. Then we'll start off with Bride/Groom, Bride/F.O.B., Groom/M.O.G, Wedding Party... I have a mix of genres... majority coming from late 70's early 80's. A lot of popular songs and party hits. Now, all that being said... how should I order the songs, for example... should I play 3 dance/faster songs, 2 slower, 2 slow dance? Leave out the slow dance songs? Play certain genres as the night goes along? Any help would be appreciated :) Actually, the plural is Deejays... not DJ's... being that DJ's is possessive. Before correcting someone on their grammar, please know what you're talking about. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disc_jockey
Does anyone know the name of this SONG? Its a hindi song and I've been hearing it at all the weddings and parties lately. It a fast pace song and it goes like saiyan saiyan mein e dhol... When the dj remixed it it sounded like a high pitch voice. I dont know if its a music video or from a movie. The dj played it along with the songs from dhoom 2 and stuff so Im guessing its from a movie. Anyway its a really popular song you can dance to. The first time i heard it was 5 months ago at a wedding. It is not from salaam e ishq

First Dance Song...? Just read this blog, http://new.music.yahoo.com/blogs/yradish/11481/top-wedding-songs-for-the-first-dance, about the most popular and requested bride and groom first dance songs. I was happy to see that mine and my wife's song was not one of those, "It's your love - Tim McGraw and Faith Hill." What is/was your first dance as husband and wife, song? And is it part of the list, if not are you glad it's not?
