What Music is Right or Wrong for the Christian Wedding? Me & My Fiance are both Christian (Pentecostal)-- We are getting married Feb 10th. My family are not Christian ..His is!!...I am having a DJ at my wedding and I picked out all the songs that we both enjoy( Me & My fiance)..his family does not believe this is right but I dont see anything wrong with some good music..oldies..electric slide...all those type..I like getting Jiggy with it!--- as long as it is not in no kind of sexual undertone rude manner..(there will be kids there)& plus thats just not my thing! WHY is it that his family has such issues!! with this music situation..Those are not my convictions! or my Fiance!...if they would like they dont have to stick around for the party..if they feel strongly about it... Isnt it our day!! and a reminder I will be playing Christian music too....arent we suppose to be of example... we arent suppose to look down on people of other faiths.......

What r some christian wedding reception songs? I am a bridesmaid in my friends wedding in october and am responsible for the reception songs. You may say that easy just get some Luther songs and be done. BUT the church does not allow secular artists such as Luther vandross and Kelly Price. Only christian music is allowed and I am completely lost!! HELPPPPPP!
Christian's what are your thoughts on secular music at a Christian wedding? I want your opinions.. Do you think it's wrong to listen to oldies, and disco, and spanish love songs played be mariachi band, and maybe some funk music. as in Zap n Rodger?? See if I do decide to play secular music, i don't want any music that talks about sex, profanity, viloence, etc. It's basically going to be love music, and maybe a little dance.. Part of me says it's ok, and part of me says no.. I mean love music is love music, I don't think it's wrong to listen to that... or is it? Oh my wedding is going to be at a winery. not a church.... Jiloth7-- Having a wedding at a Winery is ok, Just because I'm having my wedding ceremony at a Winery doesn't mean that everyone is going to get drunk, and be foolish. And having a wedding at a Winery doesn't necessiarily mean I will be providing wine.. There are non alcoholic drinks as Cider, fizzy drinks, soda, etc..
What is some CHRISTIAN music I can mix onto a CD for my Mom's wedding? My Mom's getting married in June =). I need some mellow Christian music that I can put together onto a CD. By the way, some of her favorite songs are "Amazing Grace" by Christ Tomlin, "Something Beautiful" by Newsboys, and "He's Walking Her Home" by Mark Schultz. Anything that sounds wedding-ish is great. Thanks!! :D
Where can I find the lyrics and music to an older Christian wedding song? The name of the song is "Each for the Other and Both for the Lord" Thanks!

Does anyone know any newer christian songs that would be good for a wedding ceremony? My friend is singing during our ceremony. She is a christian singer but i wanted to see if you guys had any suggestions. Our wedding is a very elegant formal wedding and mostly classical music will be used for the prelude and throughout the wedding . THanks!
symbols in a christian wedding? what are 2 symbols in the christian wedding, i already have ring, need 2 more: and what it means. it can be an action, piece of music, or an object. any ideass? thankssss :) its for an project.
Great Christian Music? Here is the situation: I am a student leader at my youth group, and last Wed. our computer holding all of our music crashed, so i volunteered to put my iPod in and put on some Christian Tunes, and my youth pastor really enjoyed the music and asked if i could get more. I already have RED, P.O.D, Tobymac, Falling Up, Grits, and Audio Adrenaline. Could anyone recommend some more Christian rock or rap music? No slow songs or anything, nor screamo. We want to keep the atmosphere bright and not filled with screams lol! Thanks!
Dancing at a Christian Wedding? My boyfriend and I have been dating for a year already and we've come to know each other very well. We're hoping if it's the Lord's will for the both of us to get married one day. We both Love the Lord and are christians. We want to have a godly wedding, but we want it to be an entertaining one as well. My dilemma is Dancing at weddings? I know to some Christians it seems wrong. Now I'm not so sure why dancing at a wedding is wrong. But I mean a waltz dance. A father daughter dance and Husband and wife dance. I think that kind of dancing as symbolic. A father dancing with his daughter . but why does it seem so wrong to some christians? I want a father daughter husband wife waltz at my wedding, but My parents and my sister think that Dancing at weddings seems wrong. My Grandmother who passed away about a year ago was a woman who was really strict with religion. Well not strict, but she believed that drinking is wrong for christians and dancing is not right if it's not dancing for God. And I believe that. Christians are always watched closely to see if we will mess up. It's like were under a microscope. We have to do the right things so we won't be called hypocrites. But I really can't find anything wrong with a father daughter waltz or a husband and wife first waltz. I just want some advice and insight from other christians who Know for sure if this is a bad thing to have at a wedding. I just want to have a good christian wedding, but I want it to be an enjoyable wedding. I know for sure I won't have any beer served. I was just thinking maybe a little wine just for making the toasts, but that's as far as it will go. I know there really isn't wrong with drinking wine unless your drinking it abusively for the wrong reasons. I'm still not so sure I want actual dancing. My boyfriend thinks otherwise. He thinks a wedding without dancing would be boring. I think it's not right. I think a waltz is ok because it's traditional and symbolic, but regular dancing with random music is not ok. I just want us to do the right thing and have a happy wedding. I really want a father daughter waltz and my husband and wife waltz. I just don't want to upset or dissapoint anyone. So if anyone could tell me if my Dad and sister are right or if it is ok to have a First Waltz at my wedding? My Dad was very close to my Granmother and ever since she passed away he's been trying to follow everything she has told us that was right or wrong. And I'm afraid he might not want to have a ffather daughter dance because of that.
Needing some good Christian Music!? We are only allowed to have Christian or worship-based music at our ceremony. I've heard a lot of Christian artists that I like, but can't seem to find anything wedding-appropriate. Some of my favorite groups are Casting Crowns, Point of Grace, Chris Tomlin, and so on. I don't want anything too bouncy and happy, but more pensive and heartfelt. Any ideas? I'm open to all suggestions!!!! Update: the songs we need are Unity candle, offeratory (Catholic), and communion song...although a longer song could combine unity candle and offeratory. All good suggestions, keep em coming! Some specific songs/lyrics would be helpful, too!
What is a good song to have the guests (congregation) and everyone sing at a wedding? We're getting married on 9/9/06 in a small chapel. We are expecting 80 guests. We are Christian. We are not having any soloists sing. We have access to an acoustic guitar player and a piano player and possibly a violin player for our wedding music. What is a good song that would relate to a wedding celebration or asking God to bless the union or something like that that the congregation could sing together? We don't mind printing the words out for the guests, but the tune should be easy enough that anyone could sing along and not feel tension to hit very high or very low notes. Any suggestions?
Songs for a wedding? What are 2 good songs to sing during a wedding? And do you have any opions on what to play at the reception? It is a Christian wedding, but doesn't necessarily have to be Christian music.
What are some popular Christian dance songs?? My fiance' and I wish to have some Christian dance music at our wedding reception. We're into Toby Mac, Hawk Nelson, Kurt Franklin, Reliant K. etc. We're looking for specific titles to listen to first, so please do not just list the artist. Please feel free to list as many songs as possible. Thanks!
jewish wedding and music? Is there a part of the Jewish wedding or betrothal ceremony where music can be played other than during the processional and recessional? (like an interlude in a Christian ceremony during unity candle lighting) I've always wanted Mozart's Bei Mannern played during my wedding but it isn't appropriate for coming in before the ceremony or going out afterwards. It's about 3 minutes long. Thanks!
Does anyone know any upbeat contemporary Christian music? that can be played during a wedding ceremony?
What are popular Christian dance songs?? My fiance' and I wish to have some Christian dance music at our wedding reception. We're into Toby Mac, Hawk Nelson, Kurt Franklin, etc. Please feel free to list as many songs as possible. Thanks!

I have a friend that I want to sing at my wedding...? She is a Christian Music artist and she has had a few CD's out. I am confident that she will do a great job no matter what song I pick. I was wondering if anyone had a suggestion of a good song to have performed live at a wedding. (It doesn't have to be a christian song but I am open to all kinds of songs) THANKS !!!! I only want her to sing one song. I'm not much for the "talent show" type weddings.
Which church lets you play music at wedding? Ok I am not baptized yet but I will be this year. My fiance and I are having a ltiile bit of trouble with his church (greek orthodox). We both don't really like what will be said during the ceremony and the priest said he can't stray from it (the whole 'women must cook, clean, obey and all the man has to do is love'..yes not in those words but close enough). We also had planned to play 'our song' for when we walk out of the church. this is not allowed. Which Christain churches allow this? I want to get baptized as a Christian and I also think it would be nice (if it isn't a necessity) to do it in the church that I will marry in.
Wedding reception? I was trying to think of neutral music to play during my wedding reception (it's a couple years away, but i still love planning it! hehe) would Frank Sinatra (or that style) be neutral enough? It's a very small wedding/reception with 20 people or so, including us and our priest! I think that would be acceptable, don't you? what other music might I play (CD's or ipod type thing) that would be generally acceptable? ie: no country, rock, rap, hip hop, oldies (like, beach boys or beatles oldies - i love them but my fiance isn't into them at all) or things like that. Christian music is good too. any suggestions/opinions?
Dealing with my father and my wedding.....opinions? I have a very religious father (fundemental baptist). He doesn't believe in listening to any other music besides christian music. I want to choose something my fiance' and I like for me to walk down the aisle yet if its something other than christian or the traditional bridal march, I know my father will refuse to walk with me down the aisle. Any suggestions? I know a lot of you think that its my day and not my father's, however I love him and I want him to feel comfortable.

I'm looking an old (1980's) Christian duet we used at our wedding - It's only the begining? I'm looking for the lyrics and hopefully a download of this song we had sung at our wedding almost 25 years ago - It was a duet and I can't remember the artist who sang it (seems like it was a husband/wife team). The song began with the lyrics "it's only the beginning - it's only just a start" I want to surprise my husband with a dvd of our pictures and music! It's not the Carpenter's - We've only just begun. - That one I actually remember.
Famous wedding duets? Do you know any cute wedding duets. Guy/Girl. No bad language, all wedding music has to be approved by the preacher. doesnt necessarily have to be christian though.
Wedding Songs?? I am going to be singing in a wedding and am looking for some good wedding songs to sing. It is a Christian wedding. So if anyone knows some good songs...please let me know!! More info like sheet music is appriciated.

Need ideals on how to do this There are several couples at our church wanting to renew their wedding vows on Valentines day. I am singing at a friend's wedding. Any song suggestions? She likes contemporary Christian music. There won't be a praise band, just a piano. I will be singing 3-4 songs before the service begins.
Gospel Song for Wedding Processional or Recessional? I'm looking for an appropriate processional gospel song, Any ideas? Please no contemporary Christian music (only because it has to fit with other music I already have, ie an R&B/ soul/gospel sound) THANK YOU ^_^
Help! I am singing in a wedding. Any song suggestions? The bride and groom like contemporary Christian music. Please--no secular songs. There is no praise band...just a piano. I am singing 3-4 songs before the service starts.
Song for sister in law to be to sing at ceremony? (getting married in October)? I have one song picked out already for her to sing, and both her and the pianist have the music for it, but I'm now having second thoughts about the song. She is not being a bridesmaid, but I want her to be a part of the wedding somehow still and she sings beautifully. My fiance and I are both very deep in our Christian faith and we both like country and christian music. Will have been together for just over four years come our wedding and are in our early 20's. Please help!!
What do you think of this song as a wedding march? I'm asking this in the poetry section because, frankly, you guys are smarter and more honest than the people in the wedding section. The basic story of our wedding: he's a space engineer, I'm a law student. His dad's a pastor, my family's Jewish, I'm Christian, he's Chinese. So, pretty unconventional. We're each other's first love, we've been dating for 6 years and things just get better with time. We had to spend a year apart last year to study, and it was really difficult. He sent me this song during that year, and it became very meaningful to us. Now he wants me to walk down the aisle with it playing. I like the song (in fact, it still gives me goosebumps when I think how much we missed each other), but I worry that people might get the wrong idea from some of the lyrics. I've heard all that stuff about it being our day and doing whatever we like, but we both have a strong sense of our reliance on and gratefulness to the community, and we're throwing a party for THEM, not us. So how do we do this? If you were a guest, would the lyrics make you think that we're depressive or unfaithful? Would you even notice the lyrics? What if we were to replace the dodgy lines with something else, and get someone to perform it live? If so, how could we alter the lines? (you can hear a sample of it at http://music.yahoo.com/Jars-Of-Clay/Only-Alive/lyrics/2091369) The lyrics: 'Only Alive' by Jars of Clay I'm a fair-weather friend I'm a colourless view But I'm willing to make a deal If you think you can make Some faith here inside I'll drive off and marry you I'm only alive with you I can't get by and I won't get through So put me in the river, let me say 'I do' I'm only alive with you You're a sight for sore eyes And a new-born cry In a year where there are so few If you throw me a line I'll show you in time I'm falling in love with you I'm only alive with you... Though my heart has been torn By the loves I have worn And I'm tempted by them ever still I tremble inside When you walk in the room You hold my affections at will I'm only alive with you...
my wedding is in two months and im not sure if i should invite.? my fiancees coo coo side of the family! My fiancee and i are christian and we avoid secular music, also we dont drink so at our wedding we wont have secular music nor alcaholic drinks. I feel like i dont want to invite them because they are going to be discriminating or causing drama and thats the least thing that i want on one the most important day of my life!
My mother is questioning my decision to have a traditional church wedding. This will be my third marriage. I am a little embarrassed because I made poor choices earlier in life. I honestly wished I had taken my fiance up on his invitation to a picnic right out of high school. My life would have probably been much different. My first marriage lasted less than 2 years right out of high school. My ex and I look at it now as a way that we used to get moved out of our parents house. We were both too young to understand the seriousness of the commitment we were making. Our ceremony was put together in 3 weeks and was in the fellowship hall of the church I had attended when I was younger. (The sanctuary at the time was being remodelled). The second marriage lasted 18 years but ended when he became physically abusive and started cheating on me. That ceremony was just the two of us and our witnesses with a minister I met a few days prior. I'm getting married at the end of August to a man I went to high school with, but did not date back then. We've have been dating almost 6 years and have really taken our time to get to know each other. We are both Christian and a lot of our dates have involved church activities. He was married in the past for about a year in a simple ceremony with just a witness. We are planning a ceremony at our church and invited friends and family. We have a best man, maid of honor, a ring bearer and a flower girl as our wedding party. We have gone through pre-marital counselling. I've put a lot of thought into our ceremony, picking out the music and everything. I plan to wear a pale blue dress and he is wearing a dark suit. (no wedding gown or tuxedo) We are having a pianist and a singer who will do 2 songs. I'm not using the "Wedding March" but instead "Canon in D". We will light a unity candle and take communion. We plan to have my sons usher and escort our mothers to their seats. Our reception will be in the Fellowship Hall with just wedding cake, punch, mints and nuts. I want our day to be memorable for us. We feel that God brought us together and want to honor that with a church ceremony. Our minister knows we have both been married before and has no problems with performing the ceremony. We are paying for everything ourselves My mother, however, is constantly asking, "Why are you going to so much trouble? You know this is your third marriage!" It is making me question whether or not we are doing the right thing. She and my sister are the only ones who have made comments like that, even though several of the people I have invited know that I've been married before. I've tried to tell her that it hurts me when she says that and that I am well aware of the mistakes I've made in the past. I am not the same person that I was back then. Any suggestions or comments to help me deal better with this?
Edge and Vickie's Wedding? who do you think WWE will make interupt Edge and Vickie's wedding (does anyone here know why these two should not be joined hand in marriage? speak now or forever hold your peace) well i thought this would be a really cool idea. the guy says does anyone here know why these two should not be joined hand in marriage? speak now or forever hold your peace, THEN Christian Cage's music plays (his last WWE one) and then Christian starts makin fun of Edge. Then they have a fued over the World Heavyweight title. anyway lets hear your ideas :)
Need help with Ceremony music not reception? We want to go with more upbeat contemporary type songs in our ceremony. They have to christian since our wedding is in a church. I haven't even been to a wedding since I was like 10 so I don't even know how much "music" is played besides a song sung by a singer and the march down the aisle. Help I am clueless and my wedding is in 3 months! yes they do have to be Christian thanks yeah i have a lot of research to do at home. thanks everyone yeah i did talk to her a little bit before and everything she played for us made us feel like it would be a funeral and not wedding - the stuff was boring! i'll keep looking!!
Any acoustic-y emo/pop-ish songs out there? I have asked this question about 4 other times here and 3 out of the 4 times I have been EXTREMELY pleased with the results. I'm looking for some awesome acoustic rock songs with the feel of i will follow you into the dark by death cab for cutie and anything from secondhand serenade. Also, songs that are underground and indie sound good too. Also, alternative rock Christian music (such as The Wedding and Relient K) is awesome as well. Please give me some suggestions of bands that are like these. Thank You!
Unconventional, out-of-the-box wedding ideas for intercultural, international couple? I'm getting married in few months, black Zimbabwean girl + Chinese Malaysian. I would appreciate suggestions; he's a creative, so we wouldn't mind slightly far out themes, we'd want it to reflect our respectively different backgrounds &adventurous personalities; we want it unconventional, different, memorable... At the moment, planning for the Malaysian event, so it should be something appropriate for the hot and humid climate. He's wearing pinstripe, white on black, what colours would go with that? Games? We want to make it interactive, esp during the reception (dinner possibly traditional Chinese-style ten courses, but way different dishes & setup) At the moment, thinking of one venue, late afternoon-evening ceremony coupled with reception. Themes? Colours? Any suggestions for what kinda food? Free seating? Buffet-style, or formal waiter style? We're both Christian, so any suggestions for romantic but appropriate music? Does anyone have a wedding template or something to work from?

wedding party in iran! it may be strange for you to know that here;;;;? hi ! i am a student in iran . today we went to a wedding party.it was great! dancing so much ;music;it was like the clubs i have seen in other countries. we speak persian but in my city our tongue language is turkish;we have special dances and it is called azeri dancing;it is nice. any way they danced farsi way arabic;and indian dance too. but the thing that is some how strange is that even all the people there was muslim but just a few of them wore scarf ;their clothes were too different to the way that we have to wear in the streets. it is not important ;and maybe it is better to be like this.but the fact that i think about it is that why in iran the muslims just pray they dont admit some unimportant rules of islam(like wearing scarf;not dance infront of other men)they fast;they pray(but frankly not all the people do these rules too) my freinds in school are muslim just some are christian but they drink wine;dont pray like others.but let me mention there are some that act like rules! i know that in other countries are such matters too. i know that some of the young people in eurupian countries dont go to church;dont pray like the way that they have to do in their religion and they dont do the rules exactly.
what's the title of the song w/ the ffg. lyrics "After the sunset, after the colors had faded into the night." I think it's After the Sunset but i can't find it any of the music sites. it's a wedding/Christian song. Where can I download it? Pls. help!!!
When mothers say they wont attend the wedding? I have had many issues involving being forced to marry in the Greek Orthodox Church by MIL. MIL said she and many guests would not attend then wedding unless it is held at the Greek Church. The Church had too many hoops to jump through (can't use my name in ceremony it's not christian enough, have to get baptized, brides maids have to get baptized, no music and I will be agreeing to be a slave to my husband). My beautiful fiance has pulled the pin on the Greek Church and we are going to a modern christain church (with no hoops to jump through). To a normal person the reasons for changing churches would be enough but we know his mum will be mortified. She will threaten not to attend the wedding. Well we do want her there. When mothers say they wont attend because it's not their way - do they ever change their minds and come? We wont be telling her for a couple of months that we have changed Churches.
Muslim guests at a catholic wedding? My mum, sisters, brother in laws and their kids are Muslim and I am Christian, I shall be getting married soon and need to know something as I have searched crazy on Google and not much info has come up. I need to know is it OK for my nieces and nephew to participate in the wedding as my Paige boy and my 2 flower girls? As well as is it OK for my Muslim family members to be in the wedding ceremony in the church and at the reception are they aloud to dance and what music is not aloud and what are they aloud to do and not to do. As I do want this day to as eventful and joyful for me as for them.
Good song for wedding ceremony from me to my will-be-husband?? Help lol :) Thanks!? I like most all music besides heavy stuff and rap. Older, newer, whatever, but country would be the BEST :) Also anything Christian, always a plus. Thanks for taking the time to help!
I'm looking for songs that reference a happy, healthy father/daughter relationship...Rock genre-- NOT CHEESY! NOT wedding music! Please, no "Butterfly kisses", no "Daddy's hands", no "I loved her first", NO CHEESE, no country/oldies/Christian/etc... I am looking for songs like "Heaven" by Live ("I don't need no one to tell me about heaven/I look at my daughter and I believe...") I have found every list where ten people suggest "Butterfly Kisses" or Stevie Wonder. Please, no more :) I am looking to make an upbeat driving CD for my husband. Artists already included: Scissor Sisters, The Killers, Live, James Morrison... Any suggestions in this area would be really, really helpful. Thanks! I'm not necessarily looking for songs ABOUT fathers and daughters... Just songs that reference this relationship. Please, no songs that bring tears. Just upbeat music that does not talk about weddings or growing up and moving out, or BUTTERFLY KISSES (seriously)...
Wedding Song Dilemma? My boyfriend and I are getting married next fall. Were having a lot of trouble finding a song for our first dance. It's going to be a normal christian ceremony. But neither of us really listen to like country or the old school music. The only song that we kinda like is "you and me" by lifehouse but it's not really us. Any ideas at all would be greatly appreciated!!

Song about making amends - stepfather/wedding? My stepfather and I had a pretty terrible relationship throughout my childhood; always fighting and yelling at each other. He and my mother divorced and we all went our separate ways. I am now a Christian and last year, I reconnected with my stepfather and we have a wonderful stepfather/stepdaughter relationship NOW. I'm getting married in 8 months and I want to share a dance with my stepfather but I can't find an appropriate song for us. All the father/daughter songs are about the past and how great it was - I need a song (it can be religious or not) that talks about a rough past or a reconciliation. It can be any genre, really. I'm 22 and my stepfather is 40 - we like all styles of music. Does anyone know of any songs that talk about an apology or forgiving the past? Thanks for all the help so far guys. I love that Brad Paisley song, but again, it doesn't apply AT ALL. When my mom and him got married, I locked myself in my room for hours, crying. I should also mention that my biological father committed suicide almost 5 years ago, so any songs about death might not work here - my family might see it as me stepping on my real dad's toes. All the lyrics with lines like "wish I could have told you" would apply more to my real dad. To answer the last answer I received: YES, I do want to bring up the past because we are very happy with our new relationship and feel proud that we overcame our differences. No one in my family knows we have reconciled and I'd love to find a song that sort of illustrates how our forgiveness occured.
Why do must "christian" women in the us have sex with several men before getting married? Nearly every religion teaches the principle of chastity before marriage, but fewer and fewer people are observing it. The Family: A Proclamation to the World teaches that "God has commanded that the sacred powers of procreation are to be employed only between man and woman, lawfully wedded as husband and wife" (¶ 4) and that "children are entitled to birth within the bonds of matrimony" (¶ 7). In today's American culture, most people consider sex before marriage normal. Movies, television shows, and popular music all reflect this permissive standard. God, however, has not rescinded the strict standard of chastity he taught in the Old and New Testaments. The Proclamation warns that "individuals who violate covenants of chastity . . . will one day stand accountable before God." Further, the Proclamation maintains that sexual permissiveness is a major contributor to the disintegration of the family. That disintegration, the Proclamation warns, "will bring upon individuals, communities, and nations the calamities foretold by ancient and modern prophets" (¶ 8). The Proclamation's language may seem sharp to some, perhaps even offensive. But research supports its point of view.
