wedding gown cleaning and preservation- where and how much? I got married a few months ago and just got around to dealing with my dress. I want it cleaned and preserved correctly. Anyone have experiences with companies where you send it to them and they send it back? or a local dry cleaners? How much is an average cost?
Anyone used "send off" gown preservation? I found a company online... they mail you a box, you put your gown and everything else in the box and mail it back to them...they will clean and preserve it and send it back to you... Has anyone ever done this? Its actually called the "Wedding Gown Preservation Company"... I want to use "professionals" and I dont want to just drop my gown off at Davids Bridal to get it preserved. Also, how much have you paid for gown preservation? What should I expect to pay? I have a long gown and a separate detachable train (I know I'll have to pay extra for the train, its even bigger than the dress is) Thanks! I'm definitely getting my gown preserved... I'm not chopping it up and making it into something else and I'm not selling it... I'm not asking your point of view about what I should do with my dress...
How Much Does It Cost to Get A Wedding Gown Cleaned? I recently purchased my wedding gown off Ebay and am planning to have it cleaned before I wear it. Does anyone know how much it cost to have a wedding gown cleaned? I don't want the preservation yet just a good cleaning. Thanks. Jen
How can I remove rust like stains from a 40 yr old taffeta wedding gown?My daughter wants to wear in August.? This gown was professionly cleaned & stored in a "Preservation Box" layered with blue tissue and sealed. It was also put into a heavy plastic bag. It was stored in a closet and never opened until my daughter came home to try on for her wedding. The stains are on the front of the dress and are quite large. (12X12) I don't know what they are, but the dress didn't have these stains while worn 44 years ago. The cleaners said they can't remove the stains. My daughter wants to get married in my dress. PLEASE HELP ME! Thank you to all who gave me advise on my problem. I tried the Oxy Clean but it didn't work as well as an old standby that I used, to get stains out of my children's bibs. 1 part Clorex color-safe dry bleach & 1 part dry dishwasher detergent. It worked great. The stains are gone & the dress is really white now.
Gown preservation? How have you gotten your gown preserved? I found a website that sends you a box, you put your dress in it and mail it back to them... they clean it and preserve it, then send it back to you... does this seem like a good idea? I moved in the middle of my wedding planning so I cant go back to the store that I purchased my dress from... and I dont want to just go to Davids Bridal (only heard horror stories about them)... So how have you all gotten your gowns preserved? Does this "send off" preservation sound like a good idea?
What is the best way to preserve a wedding gown? And is it possible to create your own bridesmaid dresses? I am getting married in June of 2010. I have found a dress that I am absolutley in love with, and to make sure that it does not become discontinued between now and 2010, I am going to purchase it very soon. I need to know the best preservation method to keep it clean, avoid any smell it may take on while in storage, and the best way to keep any bugs from getting in the packaging and eating holes in it? Also, I CAN NOT find a bridesmaid dress that I like, that works with my theme, and will look flattering on my bridesmaids. They are all very large chested and two of them are a size 18 and 5'10". Where can I design a bridesmaid dress and have it created? I am looking for a strapless A-line with a full length ball gown skirt that is wrapped or gathered to the left side as my wedding dress is. And I need it in green. Not mint, not hunter, not sage, not lime but GREEN! Like Kelly green. If anyone knows of a designer that carries this color please let me know. Thank you. Bridezilla
Gown cleaning and preservation? I was married last week and now that things have finally settled down I need to get my wedding dress cleaned and preserved. How much is it usually? And where should I take it? Thank you!
Best place in Los Angeles, CA to preserve Wedding Dress? My wife is looking into preserving her Wedding Dress and came across plenty of Bridal Gown cleaning and preservation sites that advertise it but we must ship it to another State (i.e. Texas). I was wondering if there is a place local to us that will come highly recommended from the knowledgeable Yahoo Community. Thanks all.
Wedding Dress Cleaning and Storage? I was married about six months ago and my dress is still hanging in my closet in a breathable, cloth, acid free dress bag. There wasn't any stains on my gown but I read that stains invisible to the eye at first can oxidize over time. I went to a few drycleaners and their prices were OUTRAGEOUS! I only paid $250 for my gown (on sale from 875) and it was more expensive to get it drycleaned than what I paid for my dress! Im not looking for them to preserve it-- just clean it before I get it ready for preservation. Any recommendations on how to get it clean before I store it? I want my dress to pretty much last a few generations....
Wedding Gown Preservation? I live in the state of Virginia and I would like to know where should I take my wedding gown to be preserved

Gown Preservation? My wedding gown will be coming in 11 moths prior to my wedding. I don't know how to store it. Does it need to be preserved? Can I leave it in a garment bag? Has anyone been in a similar position? What did you do?
