Any opinions/advice on wedding gown rentals? I've heard that renting a wedding gown can be much more affordable, and that you can get a beautiful gown. Anybody have any personal experience, either good or bad? Thanks!

What do you think of a bridal gown rental shop? With planning a wedding and looking at dresses, I was wondering if a Bridal rental shop would be a good idea. I always hear people say that guys are lucky becuz they can rent a tux, but girls have to BUY their dresses. How much would you be willing to rent a gown for? Around here, just getting a wedding gown cleaned would cost around $150.00 Alterations might cost another $150. If that's the case, a gown rental would have to cover that and THEN some, wouldn't it? So that would defeat the purpose. Bridesmiad dresses might be a bit better. I think they cost the same as any other dress for cleaning. Maybe $10- $20 Girls, would you rent a gown? If so, how much would you pay to rent vs. buy? I am not looking for one for myslef. I did get my gown for my wedding... it was just something that I was curious about. Would women rent a wedding gown? If so, what would be of most concern. Fit, price, or damage liability? If you would rent a gown, what would you pay...keep in mind the actual retail cost of a new gown that you would purchase as your guideline in determining a fair rental price. What would you feel is fair to charge as a damage and return deposit? What would most concern you about fit? Keep in mind that you could rent a $1000 gown for $250 to $350...postage paid both ways, no cleaning fee charged and fit was not an issue. Damage such as lipstick, torn train, stains, etc would be charged a nominal fee such as $25 to $75 to repair. Skirts would be available in 3 styles...floorlength ballgown tulle and ballgown satin with train and pencil style in satin. The gowns would be two piece. Bodices and skirts would be mix and match. Professional measurements would be preferred to ensure the best fit. Skirt waists would be stretchable for ease and comfort of fit. Skirts would be available in several lengths and your height measurement - waist to top of toe and waist to heel at floor- in your shoes would be needed for correct length. Bodice style would be of several choices - off the shoulder, long sleeve, strapless. The bodice would best be chosen by bust measurement.

I am one of the coordinators for an upcoming music, art, and fashion event in Chicago, Sunday, June 18th 2006.The entire event will be presented as if one were attending wedding, beginning with a runway fashion show. I'm looking for an attractive and adventurous couple to marry on the runway! The models will be presented as the wedding party and model his bridesmaids collection. A local vendor is providing us with tuxedo rentals for all the 'groomsmen' as well as the actual groom. He is only showing 1wedding gown in the show as the finale, and we need a real life bride to marry in it! We provide a beautiful venue, couture wedding gown to wear for ceremony, tuxedo, officiate, marriage license fee, wedding cake, bridal bouquet, groom's boutonniere, photos, hair, make up, and more. "Reception" featuring 3 live music acts and 3 Chicago djs. Ideally, the bride would be between 5'10" -6'0, and the groom would be of equal height or taller- but we're open. I need to rent my wedding dress and the bridesmaid dresses.? I live in Chicago and Ive searched all over the internet. Ive found some but they dont look modern. I want beautiful dresses but I havent been able to find the right ones for my wedding in Septemeber. Its only like 7 months away. Im on a budget so either I rent a beautiful and modern dress or buy a cheaper beautiful modern dress. I know beggers cant be choosers but I am desperate but at the same time I want what I want ya know. Well Id love it if somebody gave my advice on where to go. Im willing to travel away from Chicago (not to another state or anything) if thats what it takes to get a great dress. Really I know for sure I want to have great rental dresses for my maids (can be like cocktail dresses also) but if someone helps me find a discount dream dress then I can buy my gown. Has anyone rented a tux from BJ's Bridal Fantasy in Jamaica? My fiance and I will be getting married in Ocho Rios (at Sandals Dunn's River resort) in May, and we were wondering if anyone has used the tuxedo rental company recommended by the resort (BJ's). If so, was it a good experience? Are they reasonably priced, or would it be better for us to rent one from home for a week? Also, has anyone paid to have a wedding gown steamed? They can't give a quote without seeing the dress in person, but I wanted a general idea of what to expect...Thanks!

Is this too much to spend? OK - My wedding is going to cost us about $6000 or $7000 for the 2 of us only - no bridal party, no reception... The total cost includes my gown, airline tickets, car rental, the actual ceremony/flowers/cake/photographer/videographer... Pretty much everything. As for cake and flowers - it's part of the package we got - I wanted the better video/photo package, so we get cake and flowers :) Mini-honeymoon... It's really more of a vacation. We're planning on going to HI, or Europe, maybe a cruise later in the year, or next year. I guess, it's not so much as a mini-honeymoon, as a real one, but we're doing something additional later on. And lastly, as for being a tightwad. My FH and I are the biggest ones going! We track every penny in Quicken. This is a once in a life time day, so we're doing it the way we want! I just wanted to know if every one thought it was a lot for just 2 people! Thanks! We already own a house together, and have no debt. The credit cards get paid in full at the end of each month. We are also planning on having a party over the 4th of July weekend to celebrate. So, that will be another few thousand... It's going to be at the house, and I don't want to cook!

groomsmen attire question? I am unfamiliar with most wedding protocol. It's nice to have this forum because...If it's customary for the bridesmaids to pay for their own dresses, do the groomsmen pay for their tux rentals? Or do we pay for that? It's actually a garden wedding, and the bridesmaids are wearing more casual 'tea length' dresses. So, should the groomsmen just wear suits? My dress is casual and we haven't even decided what my groom should wear? Can someone help me?
