How can you attach artificial flowers onto a wedding cake? I was just wondering how artificial flowers are attached to wedding cakes, do they just stick them in or join them all together with flourist tape and then stick it in or what. Thank you

Is it tacky to use artificial flowers for wedding decoration? I have a calla lily themed wedding. I found these beautiful silk calla lilies bushes that are going to be on a stand with ivy leaves hanging off the bottoms to decorate the church. The arrangements look beautiful and real....not cheap at all. They are going to be on a stand lining both sides of the aisle....they really look beautiful I got some from save-on-crafts.com and afloral.com

Are artificial flowers ok for a wedding? My step mother is having a fit because I am using artificial flowers for my wedding. My fiancee and I are over 35 and are not looking to spend tons of money on certain items...flowers being one of them. Also, I want to keep my bouquet which is another reason I chose artificial. We're not talking a huge elaborate wedding. Its relatively small..under 100 people. Am I being politically incorrect?

Flowers for my hair - should I use real or artificial - I'm confused? I'm wearing my hair half up, half down and I want orchids (my wedding flower) in my hair. I'll probably have them on the side by my ear. But I'm going to have so much going on that day, that I really don't want to have to think about picking up the fresh orchids. I've made hair clips before with artificial flowers. Should I just do that instead? Would you think it's weird if all of the flowers at the reception are real and the only thing fake is in my hair? UGH! And then matching it properly to the real ones. True touch flowers used at wedding? Im allergic to pollen so I have no choice but to use artificial flowers for my wedding. I was at Hobby Lobby and stumbled across the "True Touch/Latex" flowers. They are incredibly life like... to both to eye and the touch! However, Hobby Lobby only had about 10 roses.. I'd need at least 30. Do you think if I asked them to order 20 roses for me, they'd do it?

Artificial flowers at an outdoor ceremony? I am getting married outside in a park and am renting white wooden chairs. Since everything has to be set up and taken back down immediately before and after the wedding, I'm thinking about just decorating the aisle row chairs with artificial kissing balls. Is this tacky? Fresh flowers would take too much time to set up and take back down. Would it be better to not decorate them at all? One thing I forgot to mention is that at the end of the aisle, we are having pink rose trees. The kissing balls are pale pink and ivory and are about 6 inches in diameter.

Sunflower Wedding Ideas? My friend is having a wedding in May and she wants me to take care of all the flowers in her wedding. She told me that her colors are blue and yellow. She knows that she wants sunflowers as the focal point in all the flower arrangements(bouquets,centerpieces,corsages,etc.) She wants all silk or artificial flowers. How can i fill a hollow ball for topiary trees? Im making some large artificial topiary trees for a wedding but i cant find any oasis or polystyrene balls big enough in the UK, however they do have hollow balls big enough, but what can i use to fill these to make them solid and so they hold the artificial flowers?

I need help with Wedding Cake!? We are getting married on July Fourth and we want everything red white and blue including the cake. I have a family member willing to make it for us at no charge just have to know what I want it to look like. Here is what I am thinking about- four double tiers white icing with half strawberrries standing on end all the way around bottom of each tier and finding small blue artificial flowers to put between every few stawberries. What do you all think or do you have any better ideas? Also the family member making the cake has made many cakes. I found a Country Club with a Gazebo that will provide: setting up chairs for outside; the Reception room-tables-linens-dinnerware, etc.; appetizers; Cash Bar with Bartender; after Ceremony the dinner with Salad, 2 Meats, 1 Starch, 1 Vegetable, Rolls; Champagne Toast; Cake Cutting; 2 Private Rooms for the Bride & Groom to dress and change in; and all clean up for $1,050.00. I also found a photographer who is still in college looking to do Weddings for her portfolio, she is free. My daughter goes to school with a student who will do the DJ/MC for just gas money. I am making the 3 tier cake - it's not that hard - get a Wilton book and follow directions. And I'm making all the decorations; plus Ring Bearer Pillow, Toasting Glasses with the Bride & Groom's clothes, Gift Card Box & Guest Book. I'm very crafty too but it's very easy. An idea I just had today was instead of buying 7 vases for the tables, which even at the Dollar store is going to cost $7.00 I am going to buy a box of 8 - 17 oz. glasses and 8 tumblers for $9.00 at WalMart and use 7 of the glasses as vases for artificial flowers on the tables and then after the Reception they can have the whole box and after washing the glasses they are as good as new! Other than the Country Club the most expensive thing would be flowers but check online for wholesale distributors. My daughter found her custom made Bridal Gown at www.lightinthebox.com and it is beautiful and was only $78.00 (yes seventy eight dollars) plus $40.00 for shipping and reviews on the site were all good - no alternations needed, etc. Hope this post helps someone!

I'm looking to expand this more to reach more customers so my question is how can I advertise this more to receive more business? Any ideas?

Throwing the bouquet? I am using real flowers at my wedding and I honestly do not want to throw my bouquet because I want to preserve it and I do not want it getting messed up. I want to hold the tradition of throwing the bouquet, I just don't want it to be mine. Would it be silly to have a different bouquet made to throw, maybe out of artificial flowers that whoever catches it can take home? Oh really, I didn't know this was the "new thing". I thought that I came up with it on my own. How funny!

I am asking only those in the Midwest, because I find that prices vary by area of the country. If you live in a different area, please make a note of that. What should I expect to spend on a two or three layer wedding cake that is blue with some silvery stars to decorate? What about flowers? Blue and white artificial roses dipped in glitter. How much does the average bridal boquet cost? What about the females in the wedding party? What do they typically carry? We will send out about 75 invitations. I would like them to be blue/silver. How much should I expect to pay per invite?

My flower girl is no longer allowed to drop petals? My flower girl was so excited to be asked...well I received a call from the church today telling me that there is a new rule they want me to know of, "flower girls or other attendants in a wedding ceremony will not drop petals, seeds or anything else not approved by a deacon...bubbles and similar affects are also no longer allowed within the church." I called the church back to ask the deacon, apparently there was an injury with a slip and fall and now no one is allowed. Artificial flowers are a slip hazard and real petals will stain the carpet. Anyone ever had this happen? Or have any alternatives for her? If she carries just a small bouquet won't she just look like a jr bridesmaid who is wearing white? She's going to be seven at the time but is very small....

What do you think of using Calla Lilies and Day lilies in the same bouquet? I want to honor my parents wedding/marriage by using calla lilies, but my favorite flower is day lilies. I wanted to use white calla lilies, peach day lilies, and a small purple flower that is a lily of some kind as well (I can't think of the name at the moment) , and a filler in a cascading bouquet. I'm going to be doing it myself with artificial flowers and the help of my fiancé's grandma's best friend whom is a retired wedding planning and dress maker. Attendants gifts? I got married in April and loved making hand crafted items for my wedding. I am thinking of selling some similar items online. I would appreciate your feedback. If there was a website that sold small, wooden chests personalized with the names or initials of each member of your bridal party handpainted on the tops, would you be interested in purchasing them? What about wooden plaques with names or images burnt into the wood? Also what would you consider to be a reasonable price? Would you purchase handmade invitations online? Inserting grass into bouquets......? Im making my own artificial bouquets for my wedding and im finnished inserting the flowers and foilage/leaves but i now want to add the artificial grass into the bouquets too to give them a finnished look, i have the long grass and im unsure how to insert them into the bouquet holders, do i need to trim and them wire them first like the flowers and do i glue them in? and then i think you curl them dont you? i just want to make sure im dong it right before i try as i dont want to ruin my bouquets. thanks.

Have you ever had Mental and physical symptoms? Last month, my doctor put me on a low/no carb diet. I haven't had any bread, fruit, juice, rice, or pasta. No milk or yogurt. No cake, cookies, soda- not even a small hard candy or mint. No artificial sweeteners or alcohol either. Just lean protein and vegetables. Well, over the weekend I had 3 pieces of wedding cake with mass quantities of delicious buttercream frosting - I even ate the decorative buttercream flowers- yum!. (I had a piece Friday night and 2 more pieces on Sunday). First, I woke up Saturday with a rotten headache, feeling hungover. In a pissy mood all day. Then, about 2 hours after my Sunday splurge, I went for a walk and had a huge panic attack. My heart was racing, I got all confused and scared, I thought I was going to faint-- and I was like, shoot, how am I going to get home??? (I had to walk back home about a mile, all weirded out.) Today I'm irritable and impatient, with a slight headache. Has sugar effected you like this after going sugar-free for weeks? I had 2 giant pieces of cake loaded with frosting AND I ate the frosting flowers. I am under a doctor's care- he told me NOT to ea sugar and after a month, I did. I thought my reaction was weird. I feel sightly achy today. No way am I ever going to do that again! I learned my lesson.. wedding or no wedding!
