Asian wedding favor ideas? My fiance is Vietnamese and I've had a hard time coming up with ideas. The wedding isn't an Asian/Vietnamese theme, but I wanted to incorporate something from Asian or Vietnamese culture. So far my favorite idea is Lucky Bamboo plants. My mom says she is afraid that it will be a lot of work and many people might not take them. I thought about it and I'm okay with the work. I also have talked to friends who said they would love to take the extras if people do not take them. My questions are: How many plants? 1 per person or 1 per family or couple? Also, any other ideas? I am looking for something different. Don't really want chopsticks or fortune cookies. Thanks for any ideas or opinions! I know this question is pretty specific! :o) This will not be a traditional Vietnamese wedding, so no one will be wearing the traditional clothing. Also, the centerpieces are not bamboo plants, so I think it will be okay. As far as knowing Vietnamese culture and traditions, I do know quite a lot. I have even asked his family for help, but I do not think they are used to the idea of a wedding favor. So his mom keeps telling me just to give candy. I just wanted something a little different that might incorporate their culture, even though they cannot come up with anything. Thanks for the ideas thus far! I'm still liking the bamboo, but also the tea idea!
Wedding Favors? I am having such a hard time picking my favors. I wanted a bottle stopper, and then was reminded that not everyone needs one. I wanted to do candles, but then was reminded that they burn away and people won't have anything to remember the wedding by. I don't like ANYTHING on the internet- except the little sliver fortune cookies that can be set somewhere to remind people of the day. They aren't edible lol. They are resin, I believe, with little gems. They are the only ones that I like. I don't want coffee, or tea, anything to do with wine obviously, no scoopers, no magnets or coasters... What do you think I should get? Do you think the fortune cookies wll throw everyone off? It isn't an Asian themed wedding, but do you think they are cute? Take a look! http://www.favorideas.com/shopping/prod/SP-3890-FC.htm
Asian-flair Wedding Reception? Anyone have any ideas on what to do for an asian-flair wedding reception? Such as party favors? We've thought of chinese food takeout boxes with chopsticks at every seat, but have NO idea what to put in them! Any suggestions? Table decorations? So far we've thought of small-sized origami. Anything else? Food to serve? I'd like to have finger foods/appetizers versus a full meal. Mini-eggrolls, but I'm not sure what else I can have! Help?
Could a non-Asian couple have an Asian themed wedding without offending anyone? We'd like to have our favorite Chinese restaurant cater, complete with at least two tea options. I'm making 1000 paper cranes to decorate with and incorporate into the ceremony. I will display the double happiness character in a few places. I plan to order fancy fortune cookies as favors (American tradition, I know). Is any of this specifically offensive for any reason? Is it a bad idea to combine elements from different cultures? As we are regular, friendly customers, I am especially concerned about making the restaurant staff angry or uncomfortable. Can anyone offer any tips or suggestions?
Vietnamese wedding favors?? My wedding is in the beginning of June. The ceremony is traditional, but the reception has a vietnamese/asian theme to it since I am Vietnamese. Anyone have any ideas on creative vietnamese favors??
Chinese/Asian Theme Wedding? My fiance and I want to have an asian/zen wedding theme. i am looking for good websites with cute ideas for favors, place cards, place card holders, invitations, decor etc... any help would be appreciated :O)
Asian theme wedding and bridal shower? My sister is having an Asian themed wedding. Colors are bright orange/yellow/white. So far we have decided the centerpieces will be either koi or goldfish bowls. (depends on if the koi need bubbles and filtration). Orange and yellow paper lanterns. Personalized chopsticks as favors. Along with a candy buffet with takeout boxes, all in her color theme. Also her appetizers will be sushi. Any other ideas? Also I need other ideas for her shower with the same theme! :) Thank you. Sorry, I guess I should have explained my family has a koi pond so we already have them and we have gold fish in there as well. We went to a bridal show this weekend and the new thing for centerpieces was the fishbowls and that was my first thought...that the fish need a home after the wedding. OUrs already have one. :) A zen spa is a great idea, thank you!~ Oh yeah she is doing the cherry tree branch thing too. :) Adorable! :) She is pretty set on the fishbowls though. (not my wedding so I can't make that decision) fortune cookies and low tables with pillows! :) Awesome idea for the bridal shower! Thanks
What dress should I wear in my 50's era/ punk rock/ asian wedding? I know it sounds like alot, but its very low budget, and low profile. Its going to be super small and fun. Our theme is cherry blossoms, and our colors are black, red, pink and white. I already have the invites, decor, and small favors picked out, but I cant decide on a dress!!! I have a ton of dresses bookmared from vintage sites, and pin up sites, and basically I either want to wear a wiggle dress in satin, or a short lace dress that is sleeveless. My body is an issue I suppose. I am 5'4", petite, and weigh 130 lbs. I am 34, 30, 36 and I love my figure, I just dont know what will look best. I am also loving the tea length wedding dresses!!!
My wedding theme. So far...what do you think? Okay so tomorrow I'll be going over my general wedding sceme with my Maid of Honor, my mom, my future daughter in law, and my sister. We'll be putting a few ideas together over lunch. So I thought I'd run it through her through you guys to let me know what you think of it. Okay so the wedding is first and foremost an Asian Inspired wedding. Why Asian? Well because my fiance is half Japanese and he wanted to honor his mother. (The colors are red, black, and gold!) This is my dress. http://www.davidsbridal.com/bridal_gowns_detail.jsp?stid=2841&prodgroup=270 Bridesmaids will be wearing this in apple red: http://www.davidsbridal.com/bridesmaids_detail.jsp?stid=3581&prodgroup=110 AND they will be wearing these around their waists. They are Japanese Obi belts and their hair will up in buns with black chopsticks in them. http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=16419102 Flower girl in apple red. http://www.davidsbridal.com/flowergirl_detail.jsp?stid=2315&prodgroup=11 The band I picked for him in which I'll be engraving: Amore Vincit Omnia. Which is Latin for: Love Conquers All. http://www.zales.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2709168&kpc=1 From this site we're getting a few things. The lucky cat favors for the reception tables, the chinese takeout boxes with our names on them filled with chocolate covered fortune cookies, and the takeout box candles for the tables. http://www.favorsandflowers.com/asian_theme.htm http://www.zales.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2709168&kpc=1 A few more things I want to do is to have for the centerpieces of the table a miniature zen garden surounded by sakura flowers as the centerpiece. I think it would be fun for the guests. Maybe something like this: http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff193/jojokinksub/zen_garden.jpg Okay so let me know what you think. And if there's any kind of idea that I haven't thought of please let me know. Thanks in advance. OH and I almost forgot. The future hubby and I DEFINITELY plan on hiring a sushi bar!!! =D fizzy stuff: You're right. Hubby and I were just talking about exxing out the take out boxes and the fortune cookies. Thanks for the advice. wishingstar: My hair is going to be picked up into a simple yet elebant knot at the base of my neck. Then I'm adding red orchids on the right side of the bun and then the veil. alicia jamie: We're both getting married and having the reception at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel down here in Miami, Florida. The ceremony will be outside by the water and the reception will be inside. Yeah, we were thinking about the paper lanterns and maybe even paper parasols. I'm not sure about the jewelry for the bridesmaids.
