Wedding Shower Favors Knowledge Base

CHEAP wedding shower favors?!? I need ideas for a wedding shower I am going to be giving in the beginning of August. There really is not a main theme to this shower, but I need some ideas for center pieces as well as mini favors to give away...if anyone has some good ideas let me know:)
wedding shower favors? I am in charge of the favors for my niece's bridal shower. I plan to spend around $5.00 for each gift. Does anyone have ideas for something that will appeal to all guests (children, adults) and that they will actually use?
Who pays for wedding shower favors? I'm standing up in my brother in law's wedding, and will be attending 2 showers (the groom's side wasn't invited to the original shower, so we have to throw a separate one the following week). The bride's aunt is hosting the shower & has asked for no input from the bridesmaids. I was just told (one week before the shower) that it's the bridesmaids' responsibility to pay for the shower favors, which have been chosen by the bride's mother. Has anyone heard of this? I thought that traditionally whomever hosts the shower provides the favors, and since we're not hosting or co-hosting, it seemed like an odd "requirement". Not a big deal, but this is just the lastest in a long string of rude manners from this family. Thanks!!!
Should the tags on the shower favors have the date of the shower, or the wedding? The groom's mom is making great favors for the bridal shower. Each favor will have a little tag on it that says a little verse about love, the names of the bride and groom, and the date. But should the date be the date of the shower (the occassion where they get these favors) or the date of the wedding (the reason we're having a shower)?
what is a unique idea for a wedding shower favor? My sister is having a tea party wedding shower and we're trying to find a unique gift for the guests, that would also be not too expensive. Her wedding colors are lavender and purple.
I need a good idea for party favors for a tropical theme wedding shower.? I have tulle cut into circles and ribbon to tie them up. I bought mints wrapped in tropical paper but I can't think of anything else. I dont' want to do chocolate because it will melt. Any ideas?
Couple Shower Favors? Does any one have any ideas for an inexpensive couples shower wedding favor?
what was your favorite wedding/shower favor? that you have received in the past mine was also a little bottle of wine!
Should I put date of wedding or bridal shower on favor tag? I'm hosting a bridal shower and I'm not sure how to word the favor tags.
Steelers shower favors? i am throwing a Steelers Football wedding Shower i have all decorations and cake Steelers related. The only thing i am haveing a hard time things of is Favors... what kind of favors could you do with this theme??
We are having a recipe themed wedding shower. Does anyone have any ideas on what a good party favor would be? I was looking for some kind of magnet but I couldn't find anything that really caught my eye. I was hoping to find something like a whisk or a utensil that would make a cute magnet. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated and it doesn't have to be a magnet it could be anything.
Practical Baby Shower Favors? Hi everyone! I am thinking of opening up a business selling practical, functional and unique wedding or baby shower favors. My merchandise would include pocket sized calculators,pens,pocket-sized address books and the like.Prices would range from $1 to $5.If you were the party thrower, would you even consider giving them out as your favors? If you were the guest, would you rather receive something as functional as the ones mentioned above or would you rather get something like the common mints, candles, figurines?Thank you for your response!
Should I be upset with my friend over my bridal shower/wedding from two years ago? My friend got married 2 months before me. I went to all her bridal events, shower and attended her wedding and reception which was 5 hours long. I even went over to her house to help make wedding favors for the reception. My friend was upset that she would have to miss her church service to go to my wedding since we had it on a Sunday! Then she tried to flake on my shower because her friends were having a party that night and she didn’t want to miss it. She ends up showing up in a bad mood to my shower, gives me unwrapped shower gel and leaves before everyone else and says, “Nice party” all sarcastically. Then she goes to my wedding and leaves after being there an hour! We have been friends of 10 years and since this happened I have been distancing myself from my friend and I only talk to her on email now. Do I have a right to be upset and push my friend away? My friend “doesn’t understand” even after I explained it to her.
Bridal Shower etiquette. Should the invitations, the favors, etc for the bridal shower mirror the wedding? Is it OK if they do? If i do the same theme and colors as the wedding, will i be stepping on the bride's toes so to speak?
Does anyone know how to make decorative cookies? Doea anyone know a good recipe and instructions on how to make a decorative cookies for wedding shower favors. I was thinking of trying to make them for my sisters shower and do wedding cake, wedding dress, and some beach things as that is her wedding theme. Any instructions and websites are appreciated. I want to make the icing that hardens after decorating it.
Good websites or places to go to help me plan a wedding shower? I've never planned a shower before, but my best friend is getting married and I'm the maid of honor. I need help...like websites to go to or something that will help me plan it. I need favors and such... Help! :)
need to know where to buy party favor to be use on corsage/capias used for wedding,shower,15thbirthday, annive hard plastic letters, like"mis 15 anos, our wedding, sweet 16,baby shower, prints outs of diff. favors use for capias
Wedding Favors - Changed my mind? Darn it! I let my mom choose the wedding favors because she did a great job with favors for past showers. But now I am having second thoughts. From reading various posts here, and magazines, etc. I am thinking that her choice may not have been the greatest. She chose these shot glasses http://www.discountmugs.com/usa/glassware-5120-cl-clearshot-glassess.htm Now I think I'd rather have something like this http://www.favorwarehouse.com/favors/d4157.html and use them as place cards. Then the guests wouldn't have something with our names plastered all over them, they are actually equally priced (maybe actually LESS expensive, and I think more elegant - and functional. I don't need to hear about how favors are required, waste of money or anything else along those lines. That is not the point, nor is it relevant here. I don't think I want to hurt mom's feelings and tell her I am having second thoughts about the favors (it might be too late anyways) What if I do both??? Just to add some perspective. We are mid-thirties. Not even CLOSE to being alcoholics. I'm not against alcohol, but do't really care for it. I'll probably toast with 7-up! LOL. My fiance is a former Marine, Police Officer, and does have a beer every so often, but far from being a boozer. So I think anyone who knows us at all wouldn't think anything of the sort about us.
What is the tackiest thing you every seen done at a wedding or bridal shower?? My officemate's sister is getting married so we always swap stories. She just had her sister shower and the grooms side of the family started off by taking 2 or 3 favors to start...... so some people, mostly her family didn't get a favor. Then they drank as much liquor as they could and it was brunch!! Then to top it off they tried to steal the frames off the table that had the table numbers on them. They stopped them before they did it because they were owned by the restaurant!! She said she was positive their purse were filled with bread breakfast products too!!! Soo funny!! Anyone else have any funny wedding stories??
my fiance and i are having a guayabera themed wedding shower.....i am in need of decor ideas!! please help!!!! we are considering a cupcake tower rather than the traditional cake. our party favors include miniature maracas and personalized domino sets..... we are having the shower at a local park near a lake...very peaceful area..... we just need some help with how to decorate the party......cupcakes? games? etc etc....any ideas will be appreciated!!
I don't like the templates that my host offers for my online store. Can I create/buy a template & upload? How? I first used Yahoo Small Business, then moved my store to ProStores. My site sells wedding & baby shower favors along with seasonal cookie cutters. Yahoo & Prostores have a couple of wedding themed pages, but not any that I like. I have found a few templates on other sites that I may want to purchase, but I have no clue how to go about it and the templates are rather costly. Any help or trustworthy site links are appreciated. Thanks!
What are some great bridal shower favor ideas>? The bride is very picky and is having a very elegant expensive wedding....so we're not sure what to give as favors for the bridal shower...
Do you have to give party favors? We are hosting a Wedding Shower Luau for my brother-in-law and his fiancee. My husband and I are torn about whether or not to have party favors. We've already gone over budget on everything for the party. Do you have to give party favors???
Wedding Shower Help, Please? I am the maid of honor in my best friend's wedding, and as such, am throwing the shower. Since I have never been in a wedding (and only gone to one in my life, and never even been to a shower) and the other bridesmaids are as inexperienced as I am, I need a couple questions answered. 1) I have the venue picked out. We are having a wine tasting party at a winery (there will only be one minor there) , but need some suggestions as to what to do to keep the guests entertained after/before the tasting. (The bride DOES NOT want cheesy bridal shower games, she told me.) 2) She told me she knows who she wants to invite. How should I word the invites, and should I send the registry information in the invite? 3) Does she open up presents at the shower or is that tacky? 4) I was going to give away wine glasses with the winery's logo on them as the favor, and a tag with something like "Jim and Jenny Oct. 21, 2006" on them . Would that be ok? Any other suggestions are appreciated. Thank you.
What is your best advice for other brides planning a wedding? Whether you are in the midst of wedding planning now, or were happily wedded years ago, what tips, ideas or advice can you share with other brides? What do you wish you had done differently, or what are you glad you did? What unique, personal touches did you include in your own wedding? Do you have any cool ideas on: party favors, wedding party gifts, bridesmaids attire, invitations/programs, child attendants, showers/bachelor(ette) parties, the ceremony/vows/etc, wedding cake, photography/videography, the honeymoon? (These are just 'prompts' to spark your memory - you don't have to answer them all!!) I am finishing my wedding planner/workbook and would like to include tips from real-life brides. Your input and ideas would be a huge help!!
what is the duty of a wedding planner? My friend's wedding planner made us bridesmaids (three girls) wrap all the wedding favors in an elaborate way. (all 150 of them) And then she made us make and print out all two sets of the wedding program... All bridesmaids came a week early for the wedding from different countries. We are planning the bridal shower on top of the wedding errands (seems to be a million of them) I was wondering why the wedding planner is making us do all this work? Is it normal? We haven't had much sleep and she seems to be content with us working and not sleeping until the day of the wedding. Is it normal to make flower baskets out of plain paper and ribbons for the guests to throw when the bride and groom leave, make two sets of programs, make the guest list and seating cards, wrap elaborate wedding favors etc. etc. only TWO days before the wedding?? By the way, this happened because the Wedding Planner didn't have the promised materials or "examples". It's two days before.. and she still haven't brought most of them in yet.. we're still waiting.. all sick, and tired from lack of sleep. We have a bridal shower today and I think all three of us are about to collapse By the way she has nothing to do with the bridal shower or photographer, music etc. the bride took care of all that. I think some of the answers from the "wedding planners" here are misguided. We aren't "sick" of working.. nor did we disagree to it. We were all glad to help out. HOWEVER, the problem is the wedding planner is not keeping her end of the bargain. Which is bringing the promised materials or meeting us in time to do the work. "We'll just do it later" has become her mantra. Now it is one day before the wedding and all the materials are still not here. She wanted the brides maids to do the work ON the wedding DAY. I appreciate all the answers but I think the wedding planners here are not reading what I wrote carefully enough. I'm sure she worked harder than all the bridesmaids (one isn't she's just a friend) but that's a given.. She's hired and paid for a reason. Bridesmaids aren't. In fact they are putting away time in their life and jobs.. and spending tons of money for this event. They aren't factory workers to abuse relentlessly. The wedding planner is not being professional.
Anyone know were I can get same-sex wedding favors and planning supplies? I am moving to Canada to live with my Canadian betrothed and as there are no same-sex weddings where I am currently living I am having trouble finding wedding supplies for our wedding. I am looking for everything from shower gifts and fun bridal tees to cake toppers and cerimony things. I would like any and all help. The cerimony will be in Canada. I would really like fun things as the reception will be casual and the cerimony somewhat formal. so if you have ideas please speak up. Thanks Okay revising message here. I am looking for same sex wedding thing for my wedding. Not looking to make a poster gay wedding just looking for fun touches. Like her/her tees and stuff. Bridal shower decorations/favors/etc. ideas on a small budget? I am hosting a (surprise) bridal shower dinner for one of best friends. It is about 2 weeks away and i am a 19 yr old college girl who couldnt find a summer job and i have never been to a bridal shower so not only do i not have a lot of money to put into this, I also don't have a lot of knowledge of typical decor. it will be in room at my church (white walls, tile floor, partions dividing it smaller), and I'm serving fried chicken southern style dinner. I have 5 large round tables (sit 5-6 people), two long buffet tables and a gift table. I expect 20-25 people in attendance. colors right now are teal and white (to match the wedding). I am very crafty. So, now with the background covered. if you have any suggests for decor, table settings, centerpieces, favors, prizes, I am open to any ideas that are inexpensive but would wow the bride (and MotB). I'm going for a casual, contemporary atmosphere but would still impress the older generation in attendance. Thanks in advanced.
What do you think of this bridal shower favor idea? Put 2-3 Lindt truffles in a pretty box and tie it with a ribbon of the wedding colors...my friend and i need a cheap favor idea for our friends shower. we are not in the bridal party, just helping out...
Bridal shower favors....? Well many of the bridal showers I've attended guests and bride wear these little flower corsages pinned to there shirts...Well I'm hosting a shower for my best friend and cant afford to get all 25 guest these flower corsages...so I made these...(they are the same color as all the wedding decor, and bridesmaid dresses) What do you think are they just as good as the flower corsage or would these be fine? I really like these much better. http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc146/luvnlife_02/100_4946.jpg The larger one is for the bride to be, and the smaller one is for the moms of bride/groom and bridesmaids....the guest ones will be slightly smaller than the smaller one
Where can i buy a ribbon printer that can be used to print ribbons for events like baby showers and weddings? where can i get a ribbon printer for a ribbon printer for a reasonable price or where i can pay for it by monthly fees i want to use it to make printed ribbons for events like wedding and baby shower favors
wedding favors?!? ok im getting married july 21, 07. i dont have alot of money, but i dont want anything i have to order online. i have no idea what to give, we're having no ushers or bridesmaids or anything and there will be bout 3--50 ppl. i was thinking those candy things with custom wrappers, but can only get info on it if i order it online!! please help?! and is it ok to have pizza instead of cake at my bridal shower?(i have to plan it)
Did you go overboard with the wedding extras? I discovered the craft stores a little late. I am not a crafter by any means and never thought to look there for wedding stuff. Now I want to get all kinds of things.... but it would be going overboard! So I can't. My mom ordered personalized shot glasses as wedding favors. We still have to figure out if/how to dress them up. I have little swan boat thingys that we could dress up and use as favors. I saw some inexpensive toasting glasses through Oriental Trading. They are so cheap it's tempting to get them. My mom wants to get personalized napkins! I think I got tons of gifts for my attendants. I have tons of decorations, but no centerpieces. Everytime I see some cute favor, I want to get it. I also ordered some wedding activity pads and plastic wedding cups from Oriental trading for the kids, so they don't get bored. I got a recipe book with blank cards at my shower. I would love to have people somehow share their favorite recipes with us to put in the book. Since someone asked.... No, I am not an alcoholic. I probably average about one alcoholic beverage a year! But I do know some people collect shot glasses from places they visit, etc. because it's a rather inexpensive "souveneir". Also, shot glasses, depending on the shape and size can double as a votive holder. Maybe I'll put votive candles in them so people don't get the wrong idea.....
Have I got a question for you! I need help with a bridal shower...? This is the bride's second marriage, although I'm not sure if that matters in giving favors. I am one of the bridesmaids in her wedding, and my responsibility for the shower is favors. The wedding is a fairytale/princess theme, but we don't want the favors to be too Disney or too cheesy. I need 25 favors, so I would like them to be about $2 each or less. Thanks in advance for your help!
Asian theme wedding and bridal shower? My sister is having an Asian themed wedding. Colors are bright orange/yellow/white. So far we have decided the centerpieces will be either koi or goldfish bowls. (depends on if the koi need bubbles and filtration). Orange and yellow paper lanterns. Personalized chopsticks as favors. Along with a candy buffet with takeout boxes, all in her color theme. Also her appetizers will be sushi. Any other ideas? Also I need other ideas for her shower with the same theme! :) Thank you. Sorry, I guess I should have explained my family has a koi pond so we already have them and we have gold fish in there as well. We went to a bridal show this weekend and the new thing for centerpieces was the fishbowls and that was my first thought...that the fish need a home after the wedding. OUrs already have one. :) A zen spa is a great idea, thank you!~ Oh yeah she is doing the cherry tree branch thing too. :) Adorable! :) She is pretty set on the fishbowls though. (not my wedding so I can't make that decision) fortune cookies and low tables with pillows! :) Awesome idea for the bridal shower! Thanks
Correct wording for bridal shower favor tag? I am hosting a bridal shower and am in the process of making tags for the favors. Minor detail: I am not sure the wording to use. Do I put..... Mike and Laura June 2, 2007 (wedding date) Laura's Bridal Shower April 28, 2007 ...or something else? No, the groom will not be attending.
my friend is getting married in september and i'm in the wedding. as duty of being one of the bridesmaids.... i'm trying to help her find cheap ideas for favors for both the wedding shower and the wedding reception. does anyone have any ideas?!
I need some bridal shower favor ideas!? I'm the maid of honor in my best friend's wedding, and I'm looking for some nice bridal shower favor ideas for the guests. Her wedding is going to be simple yet beautiful, and the colors are a "pool" blue and black. I need suggestions for affordable and nifty favors. The bride to be is a quirky and fun girl so nothing high-strung or prissy. Thanks!
I need some ideas for party favors for a bridal shower.? There are a lot of people coming so they need to be inexpensive...around $2 each and also we want it to be something they can always keep. It is a summer wedding.
Bridal shower questions? I'm throwing a bridal shower for my best friend who is getting married August 24th. How soon I should have the shower before the wedding? It's probably going to be at her mom's house so reserving a restaurant or hall isn't an issue but I wanted to start planning a little. Time goes way too fast lately! Also, do you have any good ideas on shower favors, either premade or homemade? I love arts and crafts so I'd have no problem making them. Do the favors have to be something that the couple likes to do together or have to coordinate with the wedding (like the colored ribbon matches the bridesmaids dresses, etc)? I went to a shower where the bride loves Cinderella, so the favors were Cinderella figurines, but I wasn't sure if they needed to match. Any other tips that I should know about throwing a shower? I just saw this cute favor of a wedding cake bath fizzer. Do you think people would rather keep it as a memory of the day or would they actually use it? I haven't been to many showers so I'm not sure what people are more inclined to get/give as favors. http://www.partyandweddingfavors.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=18&products_id=373 I'm sorry to keep adding, but now I was wondering...if we play games, what are good prizes to give to the winners?
caught in the act--regifting? what would you do if you got a regift from someone and it was very obvious? a friend gave me something as a gift that was her wedding shower favor from 1.5 years ago and i remembered. i didn't say anything because she didn't have to give me anything (it was a congrats you're expecting gift) but she's been hinting at these baby einstein gifts for her son for the holidays, like i should buy them for him. she also got me something else for my baby, but told me how "expensive" it was before she gave it to me. i really don't feel like exchanging gifts w/ this person at all anymore--her etiquette is well, not great. what do you think?
Im worried that the shower is going to out shine the wedding...? So, I am throwing my best friends bridal shower. I wanted to make the shower special (she's had a hard life and her wedding is going to be far from the day that she always imagined). Her shower is at a historical resort on a lake (gorgeous). Her wedding was originally going to be at a bed and breakfast owned by friends of her family but now her family doesn't want to spring for the tent and basically told her she needs to find her own caterer (after agreeing to pay for those things originally). I have already paid for most of the shower and I have deposits put down on anything else that isn't yet paid in full. I'm worried that she will be upset because her shower is going to be in a completely different realm than her actual wedding. I'm now wondering if I should put the kibosh on any details that arent yet set in stone (mainly favors, special cake, etc). I dont mind paying for these things but I dont want to seem like I went to overboard. What would you do? I'm also paying for the bachelorette party. Heres my next question.... The bride already has a child (shes 22). My mother keeps telling me that she doesn't need a bachelorette party because of this. What do you think? NOTE: The bride is 22, not the daughter. Switching the venue to be the wedding venue is completely out of the question. The shower is a breakfast brunch and there is a wedding directly after it. The bride would never allow me to pay for some of her wedding. I've decided to just ix-nay the elaborate favors and do a small candy bar with chinese boxes and get a sheet cake instead of a the 3 tiered shower cake we were originally going to go with. Thanks for all the input.
Why are some brides get so bent out of shape about some wedding etiquette, but not all of it? Why is it that some brides are all about being "as etiquettely correct as they can be" with some things (like making sure all the people at their bridal shower is invited to the wedding or giving out wedding favors or spending $50 a head on food), but they don't give a crap about the feelings of their guests when it concerns other things? (such as putting very expensive gifts on the registry, creating a honeymoon registry, NOT inviting children to their wedding)... Doesn't this bother anyone else? It bothers me a lot. I'm not saying that being an etiquette queen is bad, just that I think it's bad to get bent out of shape about some etiquette, but not all of it. Winter_spice78: You have made my point in one sentence. THANK you! loki_only1: I agree with you about the registry. There should be a FEW more expensive gifts, but nothing too outrageous. Our registry has 126 items. 100 of them are below $30; the other 26 are over $30, but average at $50. I am also having our reception within 10 minutes of the ceremony site. I find it EXTREMELY rude to have guests travel a long time to get to a reception hall. I guess I'm looking at this from the perspective of my family and my fiance's family. It's HUGE and most of our family members have 3+ children. It would be very difficult for them to all find babysitters who will take care of 3+ children for 4 or 5 hours. I feel that it's wrong to put them out like that. I'd rather allow the children to come so my family can partake in the celebrate of our wedding than exclude children and have half of my wedding guests have to stay home. To those to have said that I'm being "bitter and unfriendly": I'm just asking because that's how people are treating me about some things that I have asked in the past. I've asked questions about wedding colors, food choices, etc with no ill-intentions and people on this site have chewed me to pieces for my choices. Excuse me, but I have a right to be bitter and unfriendly to these people who are so hell bent about some "wedding rules" but are totally lax about others just because they suit them better. Banana: I'm not from the country...lol. I'm from a city with 130,000+ people. The average cost of a 2 bedroom home, though is only about $80,000. It totally floors me that it's $800,000 in some places though. Why don't you people MOVE to where it's cheaper?
How Do I Stop My Friend From Stealing My Wedding Ideas!!? My dear friend and I were planning our weddings at the same time. During the process, she has wanted to use my wedding colors, floral ideas, photographer, and party favors. I tried helping her select her own invitations and waited until she ordered certain things pertaining to her wedding before answering any questions about my personal plans. Now that my wedding has passed (and yes she was in it) it has gotten worse! She wants to borrow my tiara, use the music I played in the ceremony, the location where I had my bridal shower, etc!!!! I worked my behind off to plan my own beautiful occasion. I am in her upcoming wedding. I've told her that she needs to use her own special touch but she's not getting it. How do I tell her to use her own creativity without causing tension? We've been friends for over 10 years. Yes my wedding was original because it was a Harlem Renaissance/1930s theme. The only people who were at my wedding who will attend hers is my friend and her future husband, therefore, everything she copies she will get the credit for. I know it seems silly but it's sillier to me to copy someone else's wedding. Did I tell you she changed her plans and is honeymooning at the same place I am?!
What to get my sister for my wedding? My old sister pretty much took over the planning over my wedding when I had a melt down back in August (We're getting married Oct. 6th). She's done everything for me, including talking to my FMIL so I didn't have to (she was the cause of my melt down), plan my bridal shower and do all the favors ( my MoH is completely useless), to coordinating decorations for the reception. I didn't make her one of my bridesmaids, which I'm starting to feel guilty about, because we're keeping the wedding party small. Actually if it wasn't for all her coordinating and planning I probably would've called the whole thing off. What would be the best way to thank her for all her hard work? I was thinking about getting her a Vera Bradley wallet to match her purse plust a $75 gift card to her favore clothing store, but I'm starting to think this doesn't even begin to cover how much I appreciate her. Any suggestions?
No way to travel with Wedding Gifts what do I do? I am flying across the country to share my wedding day with my family and friends all 700 miles away from me. I am trying to say in polite terms to people that I would love to accept wedding gifts, but I can't get them home with me. I just told my grandmother to spread the word to people that I have to fly in and that I can't transport any gifts. My wedding dress alone takes up almost all of my luggage space. I mailed my favors and other small things to my grandmother's house, and the mailing is expensive. I don't know what to do if a bunch of people get me gifts. How do I put it tastefully? My friend, who is putting together my wedding shower said she is putting this line on the shower invites: "only gifts that can fit in an envelope please." I can't put that on a wedding invitation. Any suggestions?
what wedding colours and flowers should i choose? I am getting married and im wearing ivory and my bridesmaids are in beige / mocha long. they are having ivory roses posies and i would like three types of peach rose in my shower boquet but im worried that they wont go what do people think? I have already done my invites in orage / peach and favors.
Is this a cute idea for a wedding favor/activity? At my shower, I got a gift from my fiance's Aunt. It is a recipe notebook that has sleeves to put recipe cards in with a ton of blank cards. I have a TON of store bought cookbooks that I barely use. I am also not much of a cook. Never really learned much. Odds are pretty slim that I would be jotting down any recipes that I come up with. Typically, I open a box or can, sprinkle in some seasoned salt and call it dinner. So I was trying to come up with a way to USE her gift. There are a ton of those blank recipe cards in the book, and she included MORE cards separately. My idea is to come up with a cute poem or something asking each couple to share a favorite recipe with us and have them either add it to the card box, or mail it to us later. Then, if at least some of the guests do return the card, I will end up with a cookbook that is full of recipes from our friends and family. Any ideas? Any suggestions on how to make this cute? I think it would have been a good thing for the shower too. But considering it was a gift that I got AT the shower, it was kind of late. The invitations are already out and the RSVP's are coming in...
Making your own candy wrappers? Has anyone made their own candy wrappers for favors for wedding or shower gifts? What program did you use? I am not interested in buying wrappers off line. Did you use a template?
Party Favors From Home business? I would like to start a home business creating wedding and baby shower favors. How do I start? I was thinking of creating a few samples and use them for my advertising. But how do I start advertising and how do I price them? Is there a "Working From Home Business" guide or book or website I could get ideas from?
Where are all of the creative women out there? Hi, I'm throwing a wedding shower for my cousin in 1 month. She wants a sunflower theme. I need some great ideas for favors and other cute things. Can you send me some pics of cute crafts we could make or ideas? Thanks! I said WOMEN!!!
Does anybody have a wedding centerpiece diagram that I can work from? I want to create one for my mom and future mom in law so they know what goes where and how to arrange the favors and unique centerpieces I have. They are setting up for me at my bridal shower. Already did that
Is this grounds to end a friendship? i need an opinion!? My:"best friend" got married last month and I was her maid of honor. I'm an artistic person and really tried to make it special for her. I organized (and helped pay) for her shower, handmade ALL the invitations for her shower, made her shower favors, got her a shower gift, bought my dress, orgnanized and helped pay for her bachelorette party, made 2 speeches (per her request at her wedding/shower) despite my fear of public speaking (and the groomsman--the groom's BROTHER barely said a word for his speech), and made her a big scrapbook of our childhood together, and did other things among these. i thought i had put enough effort into her wedding and spent enough money but she kept hinting at how people didnt buy her gifts and the weddings been over for a while. well i got the hint and bough her and her husband a MODEST gift from their registry and she had the balls to leave me an instant message when i wasn't even home to let me know that im supposed to be her best friend.. and can't believe i would spend so little on her wedding gift. ive really had it. i asked people here online if its okay to make a scrapbook or just do something small as a gift so thats what i did, given id spent enough. i feel at this point this is her problem, i did nothing wrong. what do you think? thank you everyone for your responses.. i feel better although still very angry... but i will tell her how i feel and expect nothing less than an apology! but i dont think we'll be hanging out so much anymore
Wedding planning too early when I'm not even engaged? I am the MOH in my best friends (of 18 years) wedding. So while I've been looking for things to help make her wedding, bridal shower, and bachlorette party amazing, I have been running accross things that I would like to have for my own wedding.... Like I've been actually making descisions on colors, favors, decor, cake shape, THE DATE, etc. I know! I'm crazy! But my boyfriend hasn't proposed yet and God only knows when he will. And when he does, I definitely want his input on the parts of the wedding he would like to help plan. I don't want to pre-plan these things... I really don't! But I can't help myself!!! I love ALL of this stuff and I'm finding some very helpful things that I don't want to forget about when I do start planning. I know I might find something better later, but I'd still like to consider some of these options when the time comes. So I think I'm goinging to make a folder. BUT... How can I stop this before I drive my mother and boyfriend crazy!?!?! Don't worry, I'm not booking ANYTHING!!! Thanks for the tip! :o) I just don't want to talk about it non-stop and drive my mom and boyfriend crazy! I'm pretty sure my boyfriend will propose because we've been together for 3 1/2 years and we do talk about getting married. We have already had the conversation about not staying together now if we are not going to get married in the future. And people, lighten up! I'm not selfish! or at the point where I am scaring my boyfriend... yet! I'm just asking to see if all this fun is making me crazy... not a bad person!
Is it so wrong to want a say in things at your own baby shower? My mother-in-law is acting as hostess for my upcoming baby shower (which according to etiquette is a no-no anyway). They ask me about what I like and what I want, but when I tell them they sort of think it's dumb or going over board. I don't think of myslef as a traditional person by any means and don't really want a completely traditional baby shower! (I didn't even have a traditional wedding) Why should we have to follow "tradition" and who says we should? Why is everyone thinking that I'm so wrong for wanting a say in what I have at my baby shower? I seem to be doing everything else anyway like invitations, favors, and even finding the place where we're going to have it! Maybe I should just be planning my own baby shower!!!
I need help coming up with a creative website / store name.? I sell invitations (wedding, baby shower, birthday, you name it) wedding accessories (favors, guest books, place cards) as well as address labels. All of it is custom made by me. The customer can choose colors, graphics, fonts etc... and make it their own. I've been doing pretty well, and have decided to open a webstore but, need help coming up with a creative and catchy store / website name. Any ideas?? Thanks!
Bridal shower advice...? I am the maid of honor in my friends wedding. The bridal shower is at one of the bridesmaid's mother's houses (don't ask my why). There are 3 bridesmaids and the closest one lives 3 hours away. I am the only local one. I am organizing the invites and favors, another girl is organizing the games and prizes, and the one who is having that shower at her mother's house is taking care of food, desserts, decor. My question is what do I tell the last bridesmaid to do to help get ready for the shower?? I feel like all the details have been taken care of. She lives 3 hours away by car and is a very busy person. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how she can participate?
Poem for bath salts? | want to have a little poem or saying to put on the outside of a gift box with bath salts, candle, etc. It will be a favor for a wedding shower. Any ideas?
I need a name for my new out of home business? This is a small business running out of my apartment. I specialize in cakes, candies, pastries ( from truffle candies to wedding cakes) and also party favors and invitations ( from birthdays, holidays, baby showers, and weddings). I had the name "Happy Endings", but some of my friends say that even though it fits the bill, some other people may think i run a 'massage parlor'. Please help me figure out a name for my business...i already have clients lined up, but i need a name to put on the business cards and invoices! HELP!! thanks in advance!
I need some wedding theme ideas? I am having a hard time deciding what to do. Our favorite colors are baby blue and silver. I also like pink, but pink and blue would be kind of tacky and remind me of a baby shower. We are looking at a date of May 17, 2008. So it will be a spring wedding. I am not really interested in a luau theme. It is going to be a formal wedding and we are having the reception at a very nice resort. I want something that is totally unique and something that everyone will remember as being one of the coolest! Yeah I guess I am a little competitive and I want to out do every wedding I have ever been to, this is my special day after all. But No I definately am not a stuck up rich girl or anything even close. I also thought of a Hollywood/red carpet theme because there is a beautiful dress I found that has red trim, but I am afraid that red and black will be kinda scary colors for a wedding, what do you think? I will take any ideas, themes, favors, whatever you may have that is unique! Thanks! Any interesting ideas for kids, since I have 2 of my own I want all of them to have a great time! Ideas to get the guests involved, games or different things besides the usually dancing, sitting, bs'ing Not necessarily games, but for the guests to be involved and have a lot of fun besides the usual dancing.
Asked to help serve Food at Wedding? A good friend is getting married in Sept. It is going to be a garden wedding with about 70 people. I am not in the wedding, but will be doing a reading during the cermony. A friend of the Bride's Mother is doing the food as a favor...just finger food and sandwiches. Tonight I spoke to the lady who is doing the food about the shower (which I am hosting and planning) and she asked me if I would like to help her serve the food the day of the wedding. I said "I'd rather not, but if you can't get someone else, I will". I just simply don't want to do it...I want to enjoy the day without "working the kitchen". I would even pay to hire a helper for her rather than do it myself. Was I rude to refuse or was she rude to ask?
Garden Party Shower? I am the maid of honor in my sister-in-laws wedding in October and for her shower i would like to set a garden party theme. We are having it outside and the favors for everyone to take home will be small (about 3 inches high) terra cotta pots with seed packets in the pot that have the bride and grooms name on them. Anyone know where I can buy those pots in bulk cheaper AND any ideas on games or foods or anything to make the shower better?
I need a cute saying to put on a gift tag for a Jar of salsa.? My friend is getting married in Mexico, so we are having a fiesta themed wedding shower. We are going to give out Jars of salsa as favors. I need a cute saying to put on the gift tag/jar. Thanks!
Friend's Wedding? My friend is getting married and I was not asked to be in the wedding party. We have known each other for years and are close but both have our own lives. Personally, I was glad not to be asked weddings cost a lot of money, and are very time consuming. But now my friend keeps asking me to help her with the details. I was the one who helped her picke out her wedding and brides maid dresses and I was happy to help. Except now she keeps calling me to help her. I do not have time to help with the party favors and decorations, she does have a wedding party but they are very unhelpful. The thing that has me upset is that her maid of honor called me and asked if I could have the bridal shower for her. If I dont host it apparently she will not have one. I am not in the wedding so why should I spend MY money to host a bridal shower? What is wrong with this picture. Also I do not feel that this marriage will last. I want to express my feelings to my friend but I do not want her to get mad at me. They have only known each other 7 months. Is there a way to tell her how I fear without upsetting her. If the marriage does fail and I say nothing I would feel horrible. Please help Both their parents are not happy about the wedding. They will attend to support their children but have said they will not help pay for it or plan it. The maid of honor expects me to pay for the bridal shower. I feel she is doing this just to save her self money
