Does anyone have suggestions for a location to rent for beach wedding in North western Florida? We are looking to get married next summer in Florida. Specifically northwestern. What can you recommend for a private San Juan wedding? My fiance and I are going on a week-long honeymoon cruise that leaves San Juan, Puerto Rico docks at 10pm on March 2nd of 2008. We would like to get off our plane, go to a private area and have a brief wedding ceremony, eat a nice dinner in San Juan in our wedding garb, and get on the boat (still in our wedding garb). We want to keep this is simple as possible- NO fancy decorations, NO big wedding cakes- I'm even bringing my own boquet. I've been combing the internet for weeks and keep coming across the same issue- people wanting 1000+ just to coordinate- this doesn't include cost of beach reservation, officiant, and license arrangement. I'm so frustrated I can hardly stand it. We just want 30 mins- in and out- no muss no fuss. I can arrange my own photographer, my meals, etc. A question for PR locals- is it cheaper, do you think to start searching outside of San Juan? Can you recommend places? I would sincerely appreciate all info you can provide.

How would you like to do your wedding ceremony/party ? If I will marry one day I would like to do the ceremony on the beach. With families + a few real friends. I would like that everyone comes without shoes and colourful nice dresses. I would like to put a lot of candle and a lot of colourful flowers all over the beach. I would like to wear a nice white, short sexy dress. And my partner in white too. I would like to serve fresh fish, lobster, conchmeat, shrimps and everything (fresh as well) from the sea. And for the meatlovers some kebab and juicy baby backribs, I mean it have to be like a nice long table on the beach decorated with candles and flowers and fresh tropical fruits. With all these foods on it and fresh vegetables + salads. Another small table for my wedding cake , and chocolates and cookies. For music some nice cocktail music. And to finish put some fireworks at the end of the party. How would you like to do your wedding ceremony/party ?? Express in your own word , how you would like to do it.!!

our wedding cake? we are having a small wedding, 30-40 people. we're having a priest come out and marry us on the kemah boardwalk. afterwards we are going to go up to one of the restaurants for lunch. lunch is going to be our little reception. would it be inappropriate to have a grooms cake as well? considering the way we are doing our wedding? and i'm having a hard time figuring out what "theme" to do for our cake. the boardwalk is on the galveston bay. but NOT on the beach. i would have liked to do a beachy cake...but it just wouldnt seem right. i am going to be wearing an all white little sun dress and my fiance will have on some nice kaki pants/shorts and a nice white shirt. we were talking about wearing cute matching shell necklaces, but thats about as close as it comes to the beach. so i dont know what to have the cake look like....ideas? or good websites with wedding cakes? i'm stumped..

What is the best location for a destination wedding? I am getting married in 2010 and would like some suggestions on locations for a destination wedding. I am looking for an up scale private beach wedding ( no plastic chairs, fake flowers, cheap cakes etc) I want something classy for my wedding and for my guests' entire stay. Which caribbean islands or other locations have the best beaches/scenery, best resorts/service, best weather, and overall best "bang for your buck"? I am also contemplating Mexico or Dominican Republic but am scared of the quality of the water. Anyone had a destination wedding? Where? In detail, please tell me likes/dislikes? Thanks so much for any help you can provide. Thanks for all the suggestions. The wedding would have to be within a 5 hour flight path because we have a toddler and we don't want to fly far with her so Europe is out. -Would prefer islands that are safe, at least in the hotel area. Also would like islands w/some type of constant breeze, whether it be a trade wind like the ABC islands or just a constant breeze. -Location must be somewhat handicap accessible for guests (please not on top of some cliff even though the views would be magnificent).
How much to charge for a cake? I am doing a 3 tiered wedding cake & I tallied up the cost of ingredients- about $150.00 I'm not sure how much to charge. Its a friend, buttercream frosting, cookies n cream filling, sea shells made from sugar. It has a beach theme. Any suggestions are helpful! Its going to serve 150 people. There will be either a half sheet cake on the side or another 14 inch round. Their choice.
Wedding Budget...am I forgetting anything? So I know I went about this a little bit backwards, but now that I have all of these ideas I have to figure out how to pay for all of it :O) Both sets of parents are contributing, and they want to know where they can help out. I want to make a list of things that need to be paid for and an estimate so that our parents can just be like okay I'll pay for this. I just don't want to leave anything out. I am not asking them, they have offered and want to contribute towards specific things. Any DIY projects we will pay for as we go. Save the Dates (DIY) Invitations (DIY) Thankyou Cards (DIY or if I go with the photography package blow, they include 100 personalized Thankyous) photography (engagement/bridal/wedding day--I found a great photographer that does all 3 and bundles them together in a really great package, including 6 hours on the wedding day for $4800) ceremony venue: no cost as it is a public beach *chair rental for the ceremony, est. $255 for 100 chairs (includes delivery & set up) *arbor (DIY project) *decorations for the chairs, arbor, and aisle (DIY project) *fans and programs (DIY project) *flowers Reception Venue (Texas State Aquarium), est. $2600 *decorator *centerpieces (DIY) *other decor *menus and placecards (DIY) *catering *liquor (I would prefer a cocktail hour and a champagne toast, but my fiance says that it won't be a *last name* wedding without it...I said if he can finance the open bar to go for it) *entertainment (playing music off of an IPod, guests will mostly be entertained by the aquarium) *place settings (china/silver) *favors (DIY pillow boxes w/candy) *wedding cake *groom's cake We also want to have: *a welcome party (ice cream themed...maybe catered by Marble Slab) *welcome bags *morning after brunch (not sure if we want to pay for this yet...we might just be like "we'll be at this restraunt until this time if you want to stop by before your flight") The welcome party will be where our parents meet, so we want it to be fun. It will be by the condo pool at the cabana they have there. It will be on a Friday when most of our guests will probably arrive. The actual wedding will be Saturday on the beach and we expect most people will leave on Sunday when we leave on our honeymoon.
Wedding Reception Help, Please!? My wedding will be somewhat of a low key affair on the beach. My fiancé and I are paying for the wedding out of pocket, and I am hoping to keep it as inexpensive as possible. My dilemma is what to do for the reception. I want to offer some sort of refreshments for the attending guests without going overboard on spending money. Do you think it is okay to have a finger food reception, along with the wedding cake and punch? Or does anyone have any other suggestions?? Thank you!!! =)
what size cake do i need for my wedding? 8 people total. and a beach wedding.

Casual wedding reception favor ideas? (Beach/Tiki theme.)? I am having a casual backyard reception with just some close friends and family. (About 20-25 people, half of them probably under the age of 12.) My colors are raspberry, orange, green, and natural or "tan" color for loosley themed tiki or tropical idea. My invitations had a tan naturally speckled color (like dark recycled paper) for the background, and a heavily textured cream colored linen paper for the foreground with brown Papyrus font, cream colored flowers, and a brown twine tying it together. The cake will be white with pink and orange roses and green vines. The backyard is huge, and we bought a 13' pool for the kids to play in. We will have white paper lanterns, bamboo, barbecue chicken, rice, a variety of salads, maybe some spam musubi, and punch, etc... I REALLY need ideas for favors. (If you mention Jordan Almonds I'll throw up...lol) Something UNQUIE. Something that the whole family can enjoy.

What do you think about this legislation to ban advertising /promotion of hetero marriages? In all U.S. states except Mass., gay marriages are NOT legal. This means that gay marriages are “illegal”. The U.S. Fed. Govt. and State and local Govt.s have determined that many things are “illegal”, such as rape, murder, under-age drinking, drug dealing and so on. The justification for determining “illegality” is always based on harm, "harmful", intent to harm etc. So what the Govt. is saying is that “MARRIAGE” is harmful. It’s not the homosexuals who are harmful, it’s the activity of “marriage”. Therefore I plan to propose new legislation that would BAN all advertising, publications, newspaper announcements, television coverage etc. of any hetero marriage and marriage “paraphernalia” incl. wedding cakes, chiffon dresses etc. Just like the cigarette legislation. In fact I am proposing that marriages be banned in all public buildings, parks, beaches, bars, restaurants, churches etc. What's your opinion? Hey DEATH...aka whatever, why don't you take your bitterness somewhere else. Try studying law before you ramble. Gee Tab... I would have stayed up all night wondering....thanks.
What is your dream wedding?Describe? I would have my wedding somewhere in South America or the Carribean. Maybe the Dominican Republic or Puerto Rico.An outdoor wedding by the beach would be nice. And I would sevre seafood, fried plantains, cream puffs, and I want a 7 tier vanilla cake with purple flowers. I would have a royal blue(or mint green) wedding dress because I love color and I destest the conventional white wedding dress. I would invite eanyone, I don't believe in invitations or excluding people. My bf said he might take me to a island around El Salvador and get married there and he has a lot of famioly and so do I.
Does this sound like a nice wedding? My fiance is in the Marines and we are getting married right before he deploys. We're getting married in December. We're not really having a wedding we talk about just getting married then having the wedding when he gets back just a little something at the beach. I thought it would be nice if my fiance and I and the few witnesses go to the court house and get the certificate. Then have a recpetion with friends and family and a cake and stuff then my husband and I will go off on our honeymoon. Do you think that about be nice?
How much do you think this wedding may cost? Well my couzins are both surgeons (man and women lol) and they make a lot of money yearly. They just called my parents and invited them to their wedding and told them all the details. How much do you think this will cost?? They are taking a first class flight out to hawaii to get married on the beach. They are paying for her mom and dads flight out and his mom and dads first class flight out to hawaii. Then spending a day there and having a party blah blah. She is wearing a oscar de la renta gown and jewlery. The second celebration: Then they are having her mom and dad and his mom and dad get picked up in a limo to be driven to the st.patricks cathedral. The whole family is going to this one. Then they bought three suites at the ritz carlton: One for her parents, his parents and them. She has a different gown too . They are having huge cakes and etc. She is giving her mom a tiffany and co necklace for a gift (favor).etc Isnt it a little overboared? i'm 13....not jealous..i'd love to have that Iv'e always wanted to be a surgeon lol she used to read my books when i was little about the medical field lol

Florida Beach Wedding? I'm looking for a place in Florida (probably southern, not sure yet) that has weddings on the beach, without all the bells and whistles? I'm just looking for a hotel/resort that has affordable rooms with a wedding package that isn't thousands of dollars? I don't need a cake and a reception, and all that other stuff. I also want to be about to invite 10-30 people. Thank you!

a wedding for under a $1,000? We would like to get married this fall, we have a very limited budget. I would like to plan our wedding for $1,000 or less. I have been trying to do research on thrifty weddings but i seem to be finding the same suggestions over and over and am really looking for more detailed abd unique ideas. my best friend is making my dress wich will save us a bundle, we and our friends wil be doing most if not all of the cooking and the cake. I will be making the invites with nice stationary and computer programs. We want a small wedding, personal to our close friends and family. we want kind of a hippi wedding on the beach, something romantic and comfortable. The largest cost i believe will be the photographer and the rings and any permits we need. I want atleast a simi professional photographer although i plan on putting the album together myself. I was thinking bubbles or flower pettles in lou of bird seed. any idea for a low cost special honeymoon would also b great! thanks!
I'm not sure about this cake topper...? My fiance and I are having a beach themed wedding (we got engaged on Martha's Vineyard on the beach). The cake is going to be three tiered with chocolate and white chocolate seashells and coral and seahorses on them in our wedding color, which is fuchsia. My fiance and I have talked about doing a cake topper with the Ariel (The Little Mermaid) and Prince Eric on it...but not the one in their wedding gear, one of Prince Eric carrying areil while she is a mermaid. Background. 1) The Little Mermaid is my favorite Disney movie and all my childhood, into High School, I collected Disney movies 2) My fiance knows I love the Little Mermaid, we we are super dorky when we go to the ocean and we "play" the Little Mermaid, where he throws me into an on-coming wave to jump through it (so silly, i know, but its fun! :) I hestitate because some people may not make the connection as to why that is our topper, esp. since I don't have red hair. What do you think?
Is it possible to have a wedding for under $800? After reading some of the order answers. I know 800$ seems small. But is it possible. Maybe in vegas. At the beach A small chapel. A hotel. A local church My family sews and will make all the dresses. I also have photographers in the family. I have friends that are DJ's. I also have family that can decorate, like for the reception, and wedding. Hopefully. The family will do these things as a gift. or a small price. (I'm sure they will) I'm not a flower person. So I really don't need any. And I can get creativly cheap with the cake. In my Mind. All I see myself paying for is :to get the food catered I'll say 50-75people, The decorations(which Im very simple and cheap). The material for my wedding dress. Am I missing anything. Is it possible. Has anyone done this before. Ideas please.
What do you think of the newer trend of brides "trashing" their wedding dresses? Normally this is done by going to a pool or the beach (if one is nearby) and they take a swim or splash champagne on each other, some roll in mud and others even smash cake on each other. The point for others is not so much to destroy the dress, as it is to do things that you would normally NEVER dream of doing in the dress and tux, such as walking on the beach, playing in a fountain, etc.
Wedding invitation etiquette question? About reception? My fiance and I will be paying for our wedding on a tiny budget. It will be held in his Aunt's backyard (on a beach), because we cannot afford a venue. For our reception we would like to only have cake, punch, & nuts...no dancing, no real food. How do I let my guests know on the invitation (or otherwise) that it will be a "no big deal" wedding without looking cheap? I really need some help with this... Also, any suggestions on mentioning both sets of parents on the invite as well as our son? I really appriciate any advice! Thanks in advance!
A Tiffany Blue Wedding? I'm thinking about have a Tiffany Blue Wedding. What do people think of this. Has anyone been to this type of a wedding before. I brought my idea up to a friend. She told me it was a bit childish. I didn't think so. I don't plan on playing up the Tiffany's aspect. I'll have a blue box cake, card box and favors. But nothing else. I'm just using the colors. My reception site also over looks the beach. Therefore, I was thinking about incorporating a beach theme into the centerpieces. What do you think? Ideas. And please don't tell me, it's my day. I know it's my day and I can do as I choice. But, I also want people to see my wedding as a classy affair.

what to wear? Okay, so my boss is getting married, and I, in turn am helping set up the whole wedding, and am also helping decorate the wedding cake. So I sort of have a big part in the wedding, but its all behind the scenes. Nevertheless I am unsure of what to wear. This is her 3rd wedding, and it is a beach theme. However it is in a church. I usually wear jeans and a comfortable shirt (im not emo, just comfortable). I don't own a single dress, or heels. The wedding is on Saturday. I am 6 foot, not skinny.. haha.. and I have long brown hair/blue eyes/medium skin complexion... My stomach would be my worst feature, and the typical babydoll shirts make me look pregnant. Anybody have any ideas?
Wedding Reception without Dancing? The rundown: We are having our ceremony at an adorable white chapel in Corona Del Mar, CA (Newport Beach) and our reception at Sorrento Grille, an amazing restaurant in Laguna Beach, CA. We have the restaurant to ourselves as we are buying out the venue. The restaurant oozes ambiance...it is very elegant with muted lighting, which is wonderful because we won't have to spend as much on decorations. The Problem: The restaurant can accomodate 75 guests comfortably. Our target attendance is 70. We could fit in a VERY small dance floor, but it would be cramped and awkward. We want to keep everything traditional (cake cutting, toasts, flower & garter toss) but want to cut out dancing and keep the reception under 2 1/2 hours. I think this would be an awesome reception, but my fiancee is hung up on the "no dancing" element. What do you think? How true is the old addage: "People will only remember what you had at your wedding, they won't remember what you didn't"?
Vegan Wedding in Europe? I've already asked this in the veggie category, but I want non-veggies to see it, too. My mom's bugging me to start planning this wedding asap. It's sorta scheduled for next summer. We haven't decided if the food will be entirely vegan or not, but one thing is for sure--the cake must be! :-) We have a few locations in mind, and a big part of our choice will be based on the availability of a vegan caterer. Just wondering if anyone has some info or experience with caterers and/or bakers in these locations that could help: 1) Greece (Paros island) - I spend a lot of time here, and I'm familiar with general food options, but not sure if I can find a vegan cake--perhaps bring one from Athens? It's 4-5 hours on the ferry.... 2) Prague - Where we'll be living. 3) France (Drome region- Romans-sur-Isere)- My fiance's parents' house in the countryside. 4) Virginia Beach- Where my family's from. Probably not difficult, but not our first choice. Can anyone help? Thanks! Thanks for the info on Prague, RowerGirl. The reason we haven't decided on if it'll all be vegan or not is cause my fiance is an omnivore, so we might have some dairy. If you could get back to me on the name of the bakery in Prague, I'd really appreciate it!
Vegan Wedding Abroad? So, my mom's bugging me to start planning this wedding asap. It's sort of scheduled for next summer. Wedding planning? So, my cousin is getting married. She's kind of... flighty (airhead, etc) so most of the planning had landed on my shoulders. Which I totally don't mind at all, and I'm enjoying the idea. She's set the date for March 1st. She wants a really simple wedding, and there's probably going to be about 50 people there. It's happening either at a secluded spot on the beach, or at our friends back-yard (depends on the weather). The reception is taking place at a hall that we've already rented for the weekend. Dresses, flowers, suits, hair and make-up, decorations, chairs and tables, the guy who's marrying them, cake, catering, limos, DJ, are all sorted out and delt with. Is there anything more I need to do? This is my first time planning... so I'm not sure what all is needed. Am I done? Anything else I'm forgetting? Also did the invitations.
I need some help writing the conclusion to this report?!? Thanks!!? Hey, mahn! If the only things you know about Jamaica all come from a Bob Marley song, then get ready to learn a whole lot more as we explore the lifestyle, holidays & festivals, language and foods of wonderful Jamaica! Family life in Jamacia is centered more around the mother-child realtionship than around the husband-wife realtionship. Children, not marriage, mark a woman's passage to adulthood. Even today, if a man leaves his family, his children will stay with their mother and her extended family. The women thus plays a central and decisive role in the family. She has access to birth control and will have children when she wants them. Primary health-care clinics provide prenatal and postnatal services for mothers and children. A Jamaican child spends most of his or her growing-up years with the mother and sees little of the father, who may be working far from home. When they finish school, many young Jamaicans, especially males, go to Kingston to find jobs. Young Jamaican women who have finished formal education may work in various sectors of the economy, such as health care, the civil service, or free- trade zones. Many Jamacians work in the hotels as waiters and housekeeping staff. People also make money by selling food & handicrafts to tourists on the beach. People can lose their jobs easily if the tourisim industry is not highly productive. Jamaican weddings are big celebrations involving a lot of expense and preparation. Before the wedding, the parents of the young man and woman have a formal meeting. Presents from friends and relatives start arriving long before the wedding day, sometimes months in advance. A common gift is eggs to be used to make the wedding cake. The grandmothers of the couple tradtionally help to choose the couple's clothes for the ceremony. On the night before the wedding, most guests will stay up singing and eating. The church ceremony is an occasion for everyone to dress in their best clothes. The ceremoy is fairly short and is followed by the cutting of the wedding cake, which is typically a fruit cake filled with raisins, currants, and other fruit soaked in rum and wine. Speeches are then made before the happy event ends with a large feast and more merrymaking that continues into the early hours of the morning. Jamaica has ten public holidays each year, including Christian holidays such as Christmas and Easter. The island also has several festivals. Jamacians celebrate their Independance Day on the first Monday in August. Song and dance events & contests lead up to the day. The festival ends with a costume show and grand parade. Jonkonuu dancing is a Christmas tradition. It began among Jamaicans African salves. Dancers wear colorful customes and spectacular masks. They sing & dance to the rhythm of drums, banjos, and other instruments. Jamacian folklore is rich with African traditions. Anansi, from West African folklore, is a spider man who can take many forms. He plays tricks on people to teach them a lesson. Obeah is a force that can do good or evil. To avoid Obeah, a Jamacian tries not to be too proud about good health or good fortune. Jamacians are proud of who they are. Their culture & traditions bring joy & meaning to everyday life. Jamacia's offical language is English. Jamacian English vocabulary might give the impression that islanders have been caught up in a time warp. They have perserved some words and phrases found only in Shakespeare's works or in the Bible. Saying goodbye, for example, a Jamaican speaking patios may say "Peradventure I wi' see you tomorrow." A Jamaican might speak of an insect that "biteth like the serpent" or of a "righteous" court decision. Jamaicans are educated in Stanard English. In converstaion, however, Jamaicans mix Standard English wth colloquail words and expressions. The different language levels reflect Jamacia's social levels- the higher the level, the greater the use of Standard English. Among friends and family, pronounciation, vocabulary, and grammar depart radically from Standard English. Standard English will contine to be used in Jamaica because of its importance for international commerce. Finally, Jamaicans eat many delicious foods that grow on the island. Yams, breadfruits (a large round seedless or seeded fruit with a texture like bread; eaten boiled or baked or roasted or ground into flour; the roasted seeds resemble chestnuts), mangoes, pineapples, bananas and plantains (a greenish banana with a high starch content. It is cooked and eaten as staple food.)are all home grown. Rice with red beans is a popular Jamacian dish. So is jerk meat, which is spicy grilled chicken or pork. A popular breakfast dish is Akee (The edible, fleshy, ripe aril of this tree, especially popular as a food in Jamaica. The seeds and unripe arils are poisonous.) and saltfish. In conclusion Jamacia
