Wedding Cake stand sizes? okay, I'm new to this cake stand stuff. I'm making a wedding cake, 6in,8 in, 10 in. Do I need a cake stand 6in, 8in, 10 in or do they need to be bigger than the cakes? like 8 in, 10in, 12in? I am having a hard time finding a 6 in cake stand.
Where can I find a Christmas wedding cake stand like this one? Many people are trying to find a large sleigh-and-reindeer cake stand like the one on this page: http://www.favorideas.com/wedding-themes/seasonal-themes/glorious-winter-favor-ideas/ No one seems to be able to track it down. Obviously it would cost $$$ but I have no idea where to find it. It looks like something you'd buy from a floral supply shop, though. Any ideas? Only big-budget glossies have the money to stage a set and send out a photographer. This is a stock photo. The article author doesn't know anything about the photo.
Wedding cake stand? I am in love with these cake stands, does anyone know where to get these or something like it? http://weddings.theknot.com/odb/themes/realweddings/detailview.aspx?id=1568&type=3%2c11&wedding_details=Cake&knot_pick=true&pageIndex=4
Wedding Cake Stand Needed? Please help.... I have just returned from my wedding in the Dom Republic and my cake stand that i ordered weeks ago finally turned up but its not the correct one, the company dont have anymore to send in time... Now I have nothing to put my cake on. I have a 10" top tier and 150 individual mini iced cakes, but no stand, Does anyone know where I can hire a cake stand in Cardiff, South Wales.. The party is tomorrow!!!!!
Wedding Cake? My mom is making my wedding cake and we have the stand in the picture with the link. I love the cake shown in the picture... Does anyone know if it's just ribbon (if that would work) or if there is some special frosting you have to use, or if you can buy special ribbon. Let me know.. I'm trying to figure out how I can get this to work! Thanks! http://www.ecrater.com/8514/44a93b0a298de_8514n.jpg if we use real ribbon, will the ribbon soak up the grease in the frosting and look spotty?
has anyone done a cheesecake wedding cake? I'm starting to entertain the thought of having a cheesecake wedding cake. The thing is I have cake stand that I want to use. I was wondering if I could stack cheesecakes on top of one another like a wedding cake or would they be to heavy. Has anyone done this or know anyone who has?
Trying to locate 32 cheap cake platters for a wedding? I need 32 glass/plastic, preferrable glass though cake stands. They are to sit in the center of tables at a wedding reception. They need to be able to hold a 10 inch cake. Just your basic one that most people have around the home but I need 32 of them. Any ideas or web sites? Preferrably under $10.00 each if possible.
How to display wedding cake? We have a favorite bakery that makes this most delicious cake in various round sizes (6", 12", 16", etc) and also a 1/2 sheet cake. However, this bakery does not do wedding cakes and tiers. Is there a way to order 3-16" cakes and display them on varying heights of cake stands? Or will that look stupid? We want to go with this bakery for a number of reasons: we love their signature cake, the cost is cut in half instead of ordering through caterers, it boosts business for our favorite local bakery. Can anyone post pictures of separated tiered cakes online?
Making my own wedding cake? Ok, so I can cook/bake/make almost anything (as long as I have directions on some things). Well there probably will only be around 50 guests at our wedding (very small, but at lot of people can't come bc they are out of state). I figured I could make my own wedding cake. Here's my idea. I'm buying a 3 tier cake stand (the plates are different diameters, bottom one biggest, top one smallest). Well I'm wanting to make a 3 layer cheesecake for each tier. They are all going to be chocolate cheesecake and decorated with pink sprinkle sugar stuff and the top one the topper will be on w/a couple of pink lilies on it, and the bottom 2 tiers will just have pink lilies on them. It's looking good in my head, but just wanting some people's opinions on it. Any suggestons will be helpful. I'm doing them choc w/pink decor bc my colors are choc. brown & pink. I'm pretty confifent in my cooking abilities though. Thanks! oh great idea about the ribbon! I'm going to do that too! =) (Oh and I will have plenty of time to make it, like I said its going to be a small wedding). Oh and I'm going to have a practice run next month with my idea, just incase so I have plenty of time to order one, lol!
What do you think of this wedding cake idea? This is the wedding cake I'm thinking of, but 1. I don't know if it would look good aesthetically, and 2. I don't know how hard or easy it would be to make... It's an Independence Day wedding(next year, lol), so I was thinking 5 equal sized tiers, separated by short glass cylinders with white flowers in them. The layers would be star-shaped, but each one slightly skewed, so that the overall effect looks like a star column that got twisted. Three layers(1,3, & 5) would be white with a blue ribbon around the base and pearl blue swiss dots, and two layers(2 & 4) would be blue with a white ribbon around the base and pearl white swiss dots. Since it's nearly impossible to find a star-shaped cake stand let alone one with equal sizing for all tiers, lol...in each crevice of the star formation would sit a single red rose...but only on four sides. Along one side, down the entire length of the cake would be a spread of white roses. What do you think of this cake? Does it sound ok?......... How hard or easy does it seem to make? Any suggestions? Thanks. (=
Has anyone made the red velvet cake into a large(14" ) tier for a wedding cake? The bride wants a red velvet cake and I;m not sure if it will hold up as the bottom tier of a stacked(5 tier) cake. I really don't want to do a practice cake of this size, so if anyone has ever done it and if there were any changes that needed to be made to the batter to make it stand up to the pressure of the other tiers ...please let me know.
Wedding Cake Question? I am having a 1 round 3 layer cake on a cake stand for cutting, sheet cakes and then I was also going to have my family bake some pies (my fiance doesn't like cake). We are inviting about 340 people. I was just wondering how much pie and cake I should have? Whats with the redneck comments?? Do only rednecks like to eat pie?
cake stand? Hi, I'm looking for a wedding cake stand. Our daughter is having cupcakes with a solid cake on top for cutting. I have seen a casa domani 4 tier stand on ebay (missed out on it), but can't find one anywhere to purchase. We liked this one because it was "Chantilly Lace" pattern, however are interested in anything that may be similar. We can't find more than 3 tiers of any ceramic type at the moment, and they just aren't big enough. We are in Sydney and would love some feedback! Thanks.
How do you share the wedding cake? I have seen where the bride and groom cuts the cake, but how does that go? Do we stand there and cut 200 pcs, of cake, or does someone else do that?
Help with wedding cake/cupcake ideas....? My fiance & I are considering this for our wedding cake: We would have a small (maybe 2-tiered?) traditional cake for the cake-cutting ceremony. Then in place of the groom's cake have a stand of chocolate cupcakes to be served to the guests. Another idea I had was to have a large tiered stand of cupcakes, with half of them white (for the 'bridal cake') & then the other half chocolate (for the groom's 'cake' ). So if you saw the stand from the front, the left side would be all chocolate & the right side all white. If we did this, should we forget the small traditional cake all together & just do cupcakes? Which idea do you like better? Any thoughts/ideas are appreciated! Just so you know, we are having a laid-back, outdoor wedding in the fall. Between 80-100 guests.
Cup-Cake Stand? Rather than purchase a wedding cake, we chose to go with the 120 cupcakes that the vendor included in our contract for our reception. My fiance and I are looking for a place that rents OR sells cupcake stands in the state of California or Arizona. We have no use for a cupcake stand after the wedding, so we would prefer renting one. We might also have the option to downsize it to 80 wedding cupcakes since we have roughly 40 guests. I might be able to rent tiered cake plates for them too?
My wedding is in June, what stands out at weddings? I have a lot of plans but I like to be orginally, What dtands out at weddings that you love. The free bar, the favors edible or not?? The music?? The wedding dress?? The cake?? What else would stand out??
Gay Wedding Cake Toppers? Does anyone know where I can find gay wedding cake toppers? NOT two identical men just standing next to each other. I want an interaction between them. And I want it to be classy. Is it out there?! Thanks Something like this, very elegant and beautiful, but for two men. http://www.tableandhome.com/prodhbccf
Ideas for a pink, black, and white wedding cake? Okay, sooo... just one week ago exactly, my fiance of 2 years and I decided we wanted to get married soon because we keep waiting for the perfect time and it just never seemed to happen. So, the wedding is June 23. So, I need some ideas quick like. haha. Okay, I want my colors to be pink, black, and white, and I've been searching the web forever looking for ideas for a pink, black, and white cake. Found some that were okay, but I'm not a frilly type of gal... and all the cakes seemed to be all flowers and ribbons. Not into that sort of thing. Sooo, if any of you have any ideas, links, or could be any help at all... PLEASE help. haha I'm on a veryyy tight timeline... and I'm going nuts trying to find something I like. I want a sort of hot pink, something that will stand out. Nothing too pastel. Anyway, Thanks in advance! :)
Fondant cake for outdoor reception in summer...? I will be making my best friend's Wedding Cake this coming summer. It's for an outdoor reception with climate possibly between 75 deg.F to 93 deg. F in the summer...... but I have doubts if the Fondant Cake can stand under the heat of the sun without the icing weeping or melting. I have done 2 fondant cakes before but it was indoors and in an air-conditioned area.....
What can you recommend for a private San Juan wedding? My fiance and I are going on a week-long honeymoon cruise that leaves San Juan, Puerto Rico docks at 10pm on March 2nd of 2008. We would like to get off our plane, go to a private area and have a brief wedding ceremony, eat a nice dinner in San Juan in our wedding garb, and get on the boat (still in our wedding garb). We want to keep this is simple as possible- NO fancy decorations, NO big wedding cakes- I'm even bringing my own boquet. I've been combing the internet for weeks and keep coming across the same issue- people wanting 1000+ just to coordinate- this doesn't include cost of beach reservation, officiant, and license arrangement. I'm so frustrated I can hardly stand it. We just want 30 mins- in and out- no muss no fuss. I can arrange my own photographer, my meals, etc. A question for PR locals- is it cheaper, do you think to start searching outside of San Juan? Can you recommend places? I would sincerely appreciate all info you can provide.
Mary's Moo Moos Wedding Cake Topper Does anyone know where I can find a Mary's Moo Moos Wedding Cake Topper. I want the one of the bride on the John Deere tractor with the Groom standing beside it. I have looked on Ebay and found one but it is completely out of my price range. I would appreciate any help. It's not so much the redneck thing. I am having a country wedding. My fiance is an serious collector of John Deere, diecast tractors. It just seemed a fun way to incorporate the two. I've tried the weddingpeople site but the item has been discontinued but that's the right one nonetheless.
Does anyone have a photo of a wedding cake made on black pedestals? We are investigating the possibilities, I have bought some black stands for that purpose. The cake will be quite large, so using several different stands, but want to get a visual idea of where we might go with it, before actually baking this cake. Thanks to anyone who can offer a pic. I did find one small one online.
Wedding decision help :) please? Okay, i'm not getting married til June but i'm starting now i need help. i suck at planning and making decisions.... here's what i've got, is it good? 1.Colors: Coral . Brown . Accents of Bright Green. 2. Cupcakes instead of a wedding cake set on a square cake stand with an 8x8 cutting cake on top. 3.Favors: Flavored popcorn balls in clear cellophane bags with cute monogram tags and coral or brown ribbon. (flavored popcorn-strawberry. choc. mint. white choc. caramel.) 4. Personalized matchbooks tied to 2 sparklers for guests to lite as we leave. 5. I want to change into a Kelly Green cocktail dress during the "Get-a-way" 6. I want dean martin, frank sinatra and michael buble music. 7. Brown table clothes with coral satin runners how does that sound? :) ♥ Natalie haha ya, i'll probably change my mind come june :) but thanks! sage or a mint color would be nicer huh :) oh, i'm using long 8' tables set up in a large U shape around the room (instead of lots of round tables) and the centerpieces will be 12" tall x 4" wide oval glass vases filled with white or ivory river rocks and water, the have tall curly willow branches with little coral flowers tied to the branches with lots of greenery and lots of votive candles. the ceremony will be outside under some trees next to a pond (were getting married at the golf course my fiancee manages) and the reception will be held in the ballroom of the clubhouse :) it's a very romantic setting i think and the theme of the wedding is "A Summer Fairytale"
HELP ASAP..how to make a cake stand? I'm using a Wilton fountain for my wedding cake this saturday, I don't like any of the ugly separator plates and pillars that are out there plus there darn expensive, I want to make a plywood circle 16 in in diameter with dowels for the support legs, I figured the dowels need to clear the fountain so need to be about 13-14 in in height, the cake is alternate chocolate frosting and white frosted stacked tiers, i'm using fall colours for decorations, should I paint the dowels? wrap ribbon around them? decorate with glued gems? wap fall leaves? and how would I undertake the construction of the cake stand itself..so I screw everything together? I'm guessing I would need a bottom plywood circle as well.....I just want to make the stand stable! ANY HELP APPRECIATED!!!!!!! I was on wilton's site again...and I really don't want to use their product, they are cheap looking, the white will not work, with all the fluffy fillegree patterns on them, and the clear I just don't like, I have made cake stands before but not for a high cake, and they do not look cheap, i've done them with mosaic stones and glass beads, hey end up looking like they are expensive, I do not want an all white cake.....my preferance I don't really like them, they're kinda boring, thanks for your reply, but you weren't of much help, being told my cke preferance is wrong and my ideas on my stand basically suck, really isn't much help to me.
Wedding ceremony/reception songs? I'm having a small, causal church wedding(we're taking 35-40 guests). I'm not even certain if I want to have a bridal party yet. Anyway, I'm pretty clueless when it comes to what's needed for the ceremony music wise. I haven't been to too many weddings so I'm needing to know the normal ceremony...program I guess. What music should be playing before the wedding? I don't want guess walking in and seating down in a dead silent church. There needs to be some sort of music, right? Would having an acoustic guitarist playing pretty music be appropriate enough? If I had a bridal party what music do they walk down the aisle too? I really love folk music and I don't want lyrics sang during the procession. Also, what do I walk down to? Is there a contemporary versions of the wedding march? I don't want anything pop or country. And during the ceremony, is it suppose to be silent while the officiant talks and during our vows? We're planning to perform the salt covenant (like a sand ceremony but with salt.) during that I have a version of You are My Sunshine I want played and sang. During this we also want to surprise our parents with giving the mother a flower and reading to our parents a short framed letter about how much they have done for us and how much we love them. Does there need to be music played after we've been pronounced husband and wife and when we're having the receiving line? I'm so confessed on how all of this is suppose to happen. My fear is things will come off cheap and tacky. The reception is going to be in the church basement. I'm having a cupcake wedding cake (top tier a regular wedding cake and then cup cakes on stands going down), punch, and finger foods. There won't be alcohol or dancing, so does their need to be music at the reception? I'm just afraid it's going to be so quite and no one will talk. I don't want things to be awkward. (My family and his side don't know each other well at all because of the distance each other lives.) We both have small families and I really want to avoid awkwardness between the two sides. So um, how is this all suppose to go down? :) I should have proofread this thing. Sorry!
I need help with Wedding Cake!? We are getting married on July Fourth and we want everything red white and blue including the cake. I have a family member willing to make it for us at no charge just have to know what I want it to look like. Here is what I am thinking about- four double tiers white icing with half strawberrries standing on end all the way around bottom of each tier and finding small blue artificial flowers to put between every few stawberries. What do you all think or do you have any better ideas? Also the family member making the cake has made many cakes. She has made three already this year and all were wonderful but she has been making the family wedding cakes for more than fifteen years. Thanks for all the advice from all!
If you have an ivory dress, should you have a white or ivory cake? I read somwwhere that if you have a ivory dress, then you should have an ivory cake, as if you opted for a white cake, when you stand next to it it can make your dress look an 'off colour'. Every one is saying "NO" I should have a white cake, as it goes with my other colour better (my colours are ivory/lilac) but i dont know. What does everyone think? PLease help I have to let them know what I want asap as my wedding in in 3 months Thanks
HELP! Does anyone know where I can find? a 2 tier cake stand for a bundt on the bottom and a small round for the top. I'm making my own wedding cake and want to elaborately decorate the bundt and have the cake stand come out in the middle through the hole and have the small round cake sit 4 1/2 -5 inches above. I have been searching but cannot find one. Any information where I can find one would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Cake in Chicago? A dietitian was once addressing a large audience in Chicago. "The material we put into our stomachs is enough to have killed most of us sitting here, years ago. Red meat is awful. Soft drinks erode your stomach lining. Chinese food is loaded with MSG. Vegetables can be disastrous, and none of us realizes the long-term harm caused by the germs in our drinking water. But there is one thing that is the most dangerous of all and we all have, or will, eat it. Can anyone here tell me what food it is that causes the most grief and suffering for years after eating it?" A 75-year-old man in the front row stood up and said, "Wedding cake" A wedding cake IS enough, I think.
How to keep carbonated water bubbly? My center pieces for my wedding are little cakes and the stand is Martini Glasses. Well in the glass we were thinking of putting colored carbonated water to it looks cool all bubbly. But How can I make the bubbles last all night? What can I use maybe as an alternative? Also my fiance mentioned dry ice would look real cool but that might effect the cake that is on top of the glass right? Any suggestions? Does anyone know of dry ice like that? Or to keep a liquid fizzing?
Making Cup Cakes for Wedding -Container? My friend is making our Wedding Cake out of cup cakes. We have purchased a 7 tier mirror stand from Ebay that will fit approx 150 cake on nicely. What we need to knwo is if anyone has any tips on how to store as many as 150 cup cakes? does anyone know where we can get good containers? and could we sit them on top of each other? (is there such a thing as a cup cake storage box?) Any tips? anyone?? Thanks in advance!! PS we are having them blue white and silver!
Ladies what would you like to add to this list of dont do at at Wedding? The day two people exchange vows may not be your special day, but it's someone's special day, so be on your best behavior -- all the way from the I -do's to the obligatory Gloria Gaynor dance marathon... Don't Be Fashionably Late As the song says, get to the church on time! Allow enough time to get to there 15 minutes early or more no matter what weather, traffic, or other acts of divine intervention pop up. Print out directions to both the ceremony and the reception (if it's at a different location). Many a wedding has been hampered by guests who got lost and showed up an hour late. Don't Produce Sound Effects While at a wedding and reception, turn off your Blackberries and cell phones, put them on vibrate, or better yet, don't even take them! Don't Talk Trash It may sound obvious, but it happens all the time. No matter how big or how loud a wedding is, things get overheard. So, be on your best and most polite behavior. No gossip about any of the other guests. No complaining out loud about anything -- whether it's the food or the long line at the ladies' room. And no comparisons to other weddings! As far as the bride and groom are concerned, this is a perfect day, and so it should be! Don't Come Bearing Gifts Whether you're planning on gifting the happy couple a Cuisinart or cold hard cash, do them a huge favor and don't bring it on the wedding day. If you do, they have to keep track of it and haul it home at the end of the night. Send the gift ahead of time, or after the actual ceremony -- at a time when they can really relax and enjoy it. Don't Dress Down Whatever you choose to wear, make the effort to look your best for the bride and groom. They'll appreciate that you got dolled or duded up for the occasion. If the invitation doesn't specify dress code, put in a friendly email or call to the bride, groom, their parents, or attendants to get more info. Black Tie means you've got to dust off that long silk dress or rent a tux. If it's an outdoor affair, there may be more leeway, but get details on the location, so you can come prepared (because it's isn't fun to be traipsing around in the sand in your stilettos!). Don't Bring Mr. or Ms. Random If you're single, choose your date carefully. If it's someone you've only been out with once, it may not be the best idea (could be awkward for you, your date, and the newlyweds). Same if it's someone you recently "sort of" broke up with. Weddings are intimate affairs and bringing in a stranger should be done with thought. Let the bride or groom know if you decide to come alone so they can seat you with other fun "ones!" And as much as you may love your kiddos, don't take them if children aren't invited. Don't Steal the Show Wedding ceremonies take all forms -- from religious to poetic, musical, or humorous. Whatever the vibe, let the bride and groom set the tone and follow their lead. If you're normally a loud, life-of-the-party type, bring it down a notch and let the wedding couple stand out. If you're a weeper, bring tissues and sit where you can sob without disturbing the I Do's. If the ceremony includes religious rituals, find out what you should do (or not do) ahead of time. Don't Pig Out If food is serve-yourself, avoid the buffet line stampede and wait until the crowd dies down. Also, avoid going back for thirds. Take a break and save room for cake! Seconds might be okay, once you've seen that everyone has eaten. If the food is served sit-down, eat what is served without requesting substitutions or omissions, unless you have a food allergy. Otherwise, pick delicately or chow down, but don't gripe that you "don't like fish." Worse comes to worst, you can hit Burger King on the way home! Don't Drag Out Skeletons If the bride blushes, it should be from pride, joy, or sheer love. Not because someone just stood up and told a humiliating story about the loser she dated in high school! Ingratiate yourself to the lady and her groom by avoiding any potentially embarrassing or juvenile behavior -- no bawdy jokes, no tales about their dating habits or exploits, no overdrinking, and no overly sexy dancing. Have fun, but don't have it at anyone else's expense. Don't Stockpile Party Favors At the end of the night, as you're saying your thank-yous and farewells, avoid the urge to hog all the super-cool (or yummy) party favors! You don't need to take some for people who weren't able to attend. You don't need extras. Take one for yourself, unless someone in the wedding party urges you to do otherwise. I like to add if your part of the bridal party please be on time and dont complain about anything! Oh yes you are right dont Get drunk before or during the wedding and make a fool od your self is a big one! I can go either way on the gift thing depends I think where and when your having it! I know all to well about the drunk thing (MIL, SIL, FIL all were drunk before the wedding and during it)
Wedding Lists? We're trying to sort out our wedding invitation list, while we want as many people there as we can, we are both pretty poor and our parents cannot help financially for the wedding. Would it be bad form to invite only the friends we know, without their wives, boyfirend/partners etc? At £25 per head, it seems a bit too much for us to pay for some food for someone we dont know. Im thinking of people like work colleugues and wider friends who's partners we have never met, not family members. I should say, we're having and afternoon tea rather than sit down meal: sandwiches, cakes, tea/coffee, victorian china cups and saucers, cake stands, some wine, champaigne for toasting. The whole event is only going on until 7pm at the latest. So what do you think? Perhaps we just shouldnt invite them at all then?
cinderella theamed wedding...? im just hunting for ideas really...all help appreciated! heres what i have so far... *am sending invites out in the shape of scrolls sealed with wax and put in scroll tubes *wearing a cinderella dress and clear shoes *am arriving to the wedding in a horse and carriage *having love doves released *am having a horse and coach cake stand *am having carriage style favour boxes filled with white chocolate truffle mouses * am having a glass slipper ice sculpture am i missing anything? please dont leave a snide remark..this is my dream wedding day, it may not be to everyones taste but there you go. sorry that should be cinderella STYLE dress...its not blue..lol..its a pink and white crystal dress MJR...yes thats true...we checked with guests before hand that it would be ok to do this as moving abroad means we wont be taking anything over with us but a few clothes. the moving money is coming out of the sale of our house so we can afford this wedding. KK...looks like you are getting me mixed up with someone else! Never heard of you before! And if cinderella is for 8 years all only why is it one of the number one wedding themes?
Unique Wedding Topper Ideas? Me and my fiance are marrying in may. We want a wedding cake topper, but don't want it to be the traditonal Bride and Groom just standing there. We still want it to be like that(a bride and a groom), but doing something fun or some characters in a bridal gown and veil and a tux. We were thinking Precious Moments...but weren't too sure! Pictures too please if you can! Thanks in advance! Anna, I loved that idea! But I hate eBay! Do you think you could give me a link not on eBay? Kaitlin, your link isn't working.... Oh, thanks Kaitlin!
Flowers for a spring wedding? I'm fascinated by cherry and plum blossoms, and what they stand for in Japanese and Chinese cultures. My fiance is half Japanese (half white), and I'm half Chinese (half Cambodian). I like the idea of the symbolism that the two flowers would bring to our union -- plum blossoms "are seen as an example of resilience and perseverance in the face of adversity" and cherry blossoms are "an omen of good fortune and [are] also an emblem of love, affection..." So I'd like to use both flowers as the theme. I'd probably have accents of them all over, use the colors (dark brown, cream, and pink), and have a cake similar to this http://lib.store.yahoo.net/lib/yhst-7919480820973/cherry-blossom-wedding-cake.JPG However, how possible/difficult is it to get a bouquet containing both flowers? Are they very fragile or hard to acquire? If so, is there a way to make fake ones that would look pretty real? Are there any other options that would keep up with this theme? Thanks! ^_^ Once you're done here, feel free to answer my other question about colors. Thanks. ^_^ http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080826120113AAUypLy

Wedding advice, budgets, and venues, and saving money? Me and my fiance, have finally chosen where we would love to be married... http://www.hagleyhall.com/ while its a little more expensive it seems the best quality we can find, however we're still looking for the wedding and the reception (an afternoon tea type thing, little sandwiches, cakes on stands, teapots, nice!) to cost around £5000 for about 120 people. Is this too much? Our total budget is about £9000, how can save money on the remaining things so that we can still be married here? £5000 is just under $10000 At this venue we wouldnt need to do any dressing as it is already so ornaite, but we would need table centre pieces.
Did you feel like a participant at your wedding? My sister got married on Saturday and the day was lovely. But it was like she was performing a show just going through the motions. Walk down the aisle, stand in the receiving line, cut the cake, dance the first dance, dance with her father, throw the bouquet, leave. She barely even got to speak to anyone because she was constantly ushered to the next thing to do. Even I as the maid of honor didn't get to spend too much time relaxing becuase I was busy running around with her. I am getting married in 3 months and want to make sure that we truly enjoy the moment. I don't want all of that structure. Any tips? Did you feel like this on your wedding day?
A nutritionalist was giving a lecture...? about all the foods that are bad for your body. He tells the audience that artificial sweeteners are terrible because your body cannot break them down like real sugar. Too much fat intake can clog arteries and cause death. And carbonation has many harmfull effects on your body including breaking down your stomach lining. He asks the audience if anyone knows what the one food is that the moment you eat it, it will cause you horrible pain for the rest of your life? A little old man in the front row stands up and says "wedding cake"! A little marital humor.
this will rot more more then your teeth x funny or not xxxx? The hospital's consulting dietician was giving a lecture to several community nurses from the Southampton area of Hampshire. 'The rubbish we put into our stomachs and consume should have killed most of us sitting here, years ago. Red meat is terrible. Fizzy drinks attack your stomach lining. Chinese food is loaded with msg. Vegetables can be disastrous because of fertilisers and pesticides and none of us realises the long-term damage being done by the rotten bacteria in our drinking water. However, there is one food that is incredibly dangerous and we all have, or will, eat it at some time in our lives. Now, is anyone here able to tell me what food it is that causes the most grief and suffering for years after eating it?' A 65-year-old nursing sister sitting in the front row stood up and said, 'Wedding cake.'

Need help on which flower route to choose for the wedding!? My colors are black and white. The girls will be in black chiffon dresses. They will be carrying white rose bouquets. We want to use pink as an accent color for like decorations at the reception and for the cake. My hang up is this.....Should I go with a pink rose cascade to stand out, have a mixture of pink and white or should I go all white like my girls? For the altar the flowers will be in white. For the pews we are using a 3 stem rose arrangement for selected pews most likely in pink. And once again the reception hall flowers will be in pink roses. I just wanted to add we were going to do red, but our florist said it would be too dramatic. We are having a huge balloon display done by a lady who decorates for the Country Club at the reception. We planed on doing the balloons in black and white with a few reds thrown in for color. We were told we should go with pink and white wtih no black since it would lighten the color and not be so bold.
Birthday Ideas for you - cakes and presents!? Ive read alot of people on here are after bday pressie ideas,or cake ideas... I sculpt mini versions of people -personalised cake toppers -to either go on cakes (or next to them) or to give to the birthday person as a gift. The sculptures stand 18cm high & are sculpted to look exactly like the person. Not only hair colour & skin colour- but facial features are carved to resemble the person very closely, Its something they can look back on in years to come & remember what they used to look like and their interests -u can have them sculpted with their hobbies too - fishing rod, cat, shopping bags, golf club etc I e just started this business here in Australia (no one else, i have found, does it) - and would like to know everyones opinion on it? Would it be something you'd think about getting as a present 4 someone,or for yourself as a cake topper..?? Its also popular for wedding cakes. Not sure how to go about advertising something like this- without huge costs to begin with ???

hi friends, another one for you, rate this? A dietitian was once addressing a large audience in Chicago. “The material we put into our stomachs is enough to have killed most of us sitting here, years ago. Red meat is awful. Soft drinks erode your stomach lining. Chinese food is loaded with MSG. Vegetables can be disastrous, and none of us realizes the long term harm caused by the germs in our drinking water. But there is one thing that is the most dangerous of all and we all have, or will, eat it. Can anyone here tell me what food it is that causes the most grief and suffering for years after eating it?” A 75 year old man in the front row stood up and said, “Wedding cake.”

What's the shortest wedding/reception you've attended? We were thinking about having a wedding and reception at the same site. We'll say our vows, no readings, no aisle, attendants...etc...Just vows, rings...Then we'll mingle a bit thank people personally, eat, cut cake, Me and him will stand up and thank everyone for coming again, then leave. No dancing, no speeches...It all should be pretty short. But is too short? I've only been to like two weddings in my life and they both seemed to go on and on for hours! Both the ceremony and the reception. So I had to ask :) Yeah, we were planning on it being small and casual. And we're not expecting/wanting any gifts from people. Nor is anyone coming from out of town. We plan on catching a plane later that evening to Mexico for the honeymoon/Dia de los Muertos...Last year when we went to Mexico for the festival we had a 6pm flight. We were going to leave at the same time this year. What time would be good for the wedding?
I need help for what to wear on the first day of highschool!? First off- I'm kinda tall (5'9) and really thin so my pants are all kinda loose, and i have hair that is a little bit shorter than my shoulders...my hair is very cool b/c it will do anything i want it to! Anywayz...my school starts in 2 weeks and 1 day (and counting!) and I switched back to my old school, so I'm gonna be a freshgirl (lol) AND since it's my old school, all the girls there hate me for some reason but I have a couple of nerdy guy-friends. I want to stand out in the hallways and show off my artisticness (is that a word? lmao). I have some clothes but idk.....some Buckle pants that are kinda loose, a blood red lacy shirt w/ a turqouise shirt over that (its a 3 quarter inch shirt) and some cute flats that are new in Buckle, w/ my hair in some sexy low pigtails (maybe not)? I have no idea what to do! I just want to stand out like a tarantula on a wedding cake (well.....maybe not THAT) and make everyone look at me and go "who's that chick???" hahaha ok thnx =D
I need some major wedding planning help!?!?!?!? I am getting married this summer. The ceremony and reception are at the same site. Same room to be exact. It is an afternoon wedding so we are having a cake and punch reception. What is a good order of events? We want a lot of the traditional wedding elements but we aren't sure in what order to do them. After we are pronounced husband and wife, would this be a good time for my FH to lead me to the dance floor for our first dance? Also, my biological father is walking me down the isle, but my step-dad raised me and is also a huge part of my life, so I want a father-daughter dance with them both. Would having both of those dances along with my FH's dance with his mother be too much all back to back? Should we then cut the cake, so that when we are taking pictures everyone else is not just standing around bored? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!

Searching for a cake stand to hold about 200 cupcakes!? For our wedding, my fiance and I are planning on having a "cupcake cake" rather than an actual cake. We're going to serve a couple different flavors that way people can choose what they like. Now, though, I am searching for some kind of tiered cake or dessert stand that can hold about 200 cupcakes. Most of the ones I've found max out around 50 or so. Or the really large ones cost almost $200. I mean, I guess if all else failed we could have a couple stands. But I would love to find one that could hold them all if possible and not be so expensive. Thanks so much!

Chocolate hearts for wedding cupcakes? As some of you know we are having a chocolate themed wedding. Our cake is made up of one 7" cake on the top with several layers of cupcakes on a stand below. The cupcakes will be of vanilla and chocolate but will all be wrapped in a gold foil paper that has a heart filigree punched out of it. They will all have an ivory colored white chocolate flavored frosting. I also want them to have little milk chocolate filigree hearts on each one, but I'm having a terrible time trying to find them, or even a web site that shows you how to make them yourself. Any ideas? Or has anyone even seen a cupcake like this? Sort of like this only smaller http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.wedding-flowers-and-reception-ideas.com/images/cupcake-wedding-cakes04a.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.wedding-flowers-and-reception-ideas.com/cupcake-wedding-cakes.html&h=363&w=360&sz=21&hl=en&start=28&sig2=O_qitz22BWOw-tKUSmEetQ&um=1&tbnid=WJlsPJjMimUnDM:&tbnh=121&tbnw=120&ei=-rPFR9-dMpPIea3roOcN&prev http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.icedweddingcakes.com.au/SiteMedia/w3svc581/Uploads/Images/07c4642b-ce1b-44fe-9b2a-a8680218189f.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.icedweddingcakes.com.au/Content_Common/pg-CupCake-Wedding-Cakes.seo&h=460&w=352&sz=39&hl=en&start=93&sig2=i7cyKK4SrgS6kHiOrzJNpA&um=1&tbnid=2JvxgpceCay2qM:&tbnh=128&tbnw=98&ei=VrTFR-yrLaHoeZ2pqPoN&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dwedding%2Bcupcakes%26start%3D80%26ndsp%3D20%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN http://fancyflours.files.wordpress.com/2007/09/cupcake-wrapper-white-filigree1.jpg
Cake Question??? HELP!!!? My wedding is less than 3 months away (August 8th), and I was just informed today by my mother that the bakery we're getting our cake through does not have a three tiered, silver plated cake stand that will hold cupcakes on the bottom two tiers and a small round cake on the top. I have looked all over the internet and I can find three tiered cupcake trays but they have the foundation or "pillar" holding the tiers above each other going right through the top making it impossible to use a small round on the top. The only other silver plated cake things I've been able to find thus far is a silver plated footed base which are nice but no dice without more tiers. Does anyone know where I could find one, preferably to rent but will buy if I have to, in Des Moines, IA or online? I would even use a footed silver plated base and a three tiered glass one if someone could show me what I needed and how to put it together. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! Thank you in advance!!! My cake will look a lot like these do. I want the stand to do the same thing... http://design-wedding-cakes-pictures.blogspot.com/2006/10/elegant-unique-wedding-cupcake-pictures.html http://www.flickr.com/photos/82515593@N00/1385137313/

fondant cake for outdoor reception in summer...? I will be making my best friend's Wedding Cake this summer. It's for an outdoor reception with climate possibly between 75 deg.F to 93 deg. F in the summer...... but I have doubts if the Fondant Cake can stand under the heat of the sun without the icing weeping or melting. I have done 2 fondant cakes before but it was in an air-conditioned area.....
Wedding Planning Problems . . . Help!? I feel as though my fiance is being too uptight with his money and it's really making me feel very uncomfortable. I understand he wants to save it for our first home & so do I. But this is our first wedding and he's really uptight with the budget and planning. He doesn't even wants to have a videographer and he basically wants to do everything on his own. Such as the photography, videography, cake, flowers, etc. I tried to compromise by making the flower on our own but he keeps complaining how much this wedding is costing him. My parent is willing to pay for the videographer and his parent is willing to pay for the photographer but he seems to keep complaining how much this wedding is costing him even when people are offering to help out. I asked if he really wants to get married to me and he said "YES" but sometimes I feel like I don't want to get married to him because I can't stand it anymore . The wedding is no more than 25K. What should I do? I told him how I feel already.
