Will chlorine eat away at or destroy a tungsten wedding band? We just bought my husband a tungsten wedding band because we heard that they are basically indestructible and he is pretty rough on jewelry. The thing is, he does maintenance on pools and works with all the chemicals involved with that. He is afraid that the chlorine he is constantly touching will eat away at the metal. Will it? I don't think it will but we both figure better to be safe than sorry. We just need to know whether or not he will be able to wear his ring while he works or if he will have to take it off.
Can a tungsten wedding band be re-sized? My fiance and I are wedding band shopping and we have come to find out that you can't re-size a titanium band, is this true for one made out of Tungsten as well? I am not familiar with this metal. THANK YOU!
Why does a Tungsten Carbide Wedding Band Ring cost so much? I am curious why a small ring like this costs 100$ or more " http://www.amazon.com/Black-Tungsten-Dome-Comfort-Fit-Wedding/dp/B0019BM1SS/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&s=jewelry&qid=1224614381&sr=8-8 " What is so expensive about this metal/material? I want this ring to wear as a temporary men's engagement ring until I actually get married, but I am curious on why it is that expensive?
What makes this Tungsten Carbide Wedding Band ring expensive? for example this is the one I really want " http://www.amazon.com/Black-Tungsten-Dome-Comfort-Fit-Wedding/dp/B0019BM1SS/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&s=jewelry&qid=1224614381&sr=8-8 " What makes this ring and tungsten carbide 100$ or more? someone please tell me, thank you!
What gives Tungsten Carbide Wedding Band rings their value? I want this ring to wear as a "man's engagement ring" until me and girlfriend get married just to show our engagement, i was just wondering why this ring is 100$ or more " http://www.amazon.com/Black-Tungsten-Dome-Comfort-Fit-Wedding/dp/B0019BM1SS/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&s=jewelry&qid=1224614381&sr=8-8 " someone please let me know, thank you!
Kay Jewelers - Tungsten Wedding Band? I have a Tungsten wedding band I got from Kay Jewelers, I was under the impression when we purchased it had lifetime resizing. Bring in the old ring and swap it out for one that fits my finger due to cold and heat. Well of course we go back to the store, and we were not honored with this. We could however purchase another ring in a different size. I plan on calling corporate headquarters. But anyone else had any similar situations?
Has anybody's tungsten wedding band broken? Mine has......three times now. I started with a regular tungsten carbide 8mm wedding band and it shattered while trying to dunk a basketball when my hand hit the rim. I replaced that band with a tungsten carbide band with three diamonds in it. I took it off my finger to wash my hands and it dropped on the tile floor in the kitchen, shattered again. Once again, last week I slapped my hand down on my desk at work and boom, broken again. I bought it because it was going to be the most durable wedding band I could get, no scratches and no bending either. They failed to mention it would shatter when falling three feet or playing basketball. Am I the only one that is having this problem? Thinking about going with titanium, or will it be brittle as well? All 3 rings were made by artcarved and bought from benbridge. They have been great in replacing the rings at no charge with great customer service despite the problems with the rings.
How Durable is a Tungsten Wedding Band that has a Carbon Fiber Insert? I bought a wedding band from Kay.. Fits my personality.. Its Tungsten, with a carbon Fiber insert.. seems to have a thick laminate over the carbon fiber.. but Im curious if anyone else has one they have worn a lot? Does the insert scratch easily? I know tungsten itself is very strong.. just curious how the insert will hold up compared to everything else.. On the Kay comment.. the sales people were clueless.. 1/2 of them werent even aware it was in their case.. One lady told me the laminate over the carbon fiber insert was "clear" tungsten.. lol.. riiight.. for those not knowing what I mean.. here is a link to a similar ring.. http://www.titaniumkay.com/BOMANI-Tungsten-Carbide-Carbon-Fiber-Ring-P103534.html
Will laser engraving on the outside of a tungsten wedding band ring hold up over time? My fiance wants to get a tungsten wedding band with laser engraving on the OUTSIDE of the band (it has a celtic knot design on the outside). He is worried, however, that over time the celtic knotwork will get scratched. I thought that tungsten was a pretty tough metal, and the woman at the jewelry store assured us that the design work would not scratch over time. Here is a pic of the ring: http://www.tritonjewelry.com/collect_tb01_03.php Any help/comments/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Men's wedding band metals; tungsten, palladium, gold, or titanium? i started looking for a wedding band, i like the dark shiny look of the titanium rings a lot but i guess they cant be resized if your ring size changes during your life, which it almost always does. i wasnt a silver looking band and was thinking about an alternative metal rather than white gold because it kinda looks like crap and loses its silver color after a few years. someone told me palladium dents and scratches easily so i was thinking maybe tungesten, does anyone know if that can be resized? if anyone knows of a good, objective buying guide for metals it would be appreciated. most of the guides ive found either sound unobjective or dont include tungsten and titanium no, there is a metal called palladium. im not getting platium because like the first person said its horribly expensive and its soft so it dents easily and cheaper stuff looks just as good
I've started wearing a tungsten carbide wedding band because of some of the metalwork I do...? I kept losing my other wedding rings when I took them off or 'destroying' them beyond use when I didn't. The tungsten ring is pratically indestructible. Which brings to mind a question. What happens if I injure my hand and it swells. Can they cut the darn thing off, or will they have to remove my finger? Has anybody had any experience with this? Baby boomer rock fan: I do welding, cutting, grinding, etc. I don't wear any jewelry but my wedding band it is very smooth and rounded without any edges to catch (knock on wood). I don't want to take it off for fear of losing it like I did three before it.
My husband's wedding band is beat up, and we're replacing it with a Tungsten ring. What about the old one? My husband is a mechanic, so his gold wedding band is a mess after 7 years of marriage. I appreciate his dedication in that he has worn his ring at work instead of taking it off like his co-workers, sowe ordered a Tungsten titatnium band that should hold up in his profession. My question is, how do we go about replacing the old one with the new? I mean, the original one has sentimental value. Does he just put the new one on when it comes, or are we supposed to renew our vows? It feels weird just replacing that ring. He has another ring on his right hand that is a family heirloom. His grandpa and dad got married with that ring, and his dad melted down his wedding band into my husband's initials on the heirloom ring that I put that ring on his hand during our vows. Then I put the original wedding band we picked out on his hand at the end of the aisle. So, we'd save the beat up band to melt into my son's initials and put on the heirloom ring when marries. What do you think?
What type of Wedding Band should the Man buy? Im looking into getting a wedding band, Which type should I get? Pros, cons of the ones below. Please let me know any personal feelings if you own one of these types of wedding bands. White Gold Tungsten Titanium
Ar there any women out there who wear Tungsten Carbide wedding rings? Or just plain tungsten or titanium----basically any other metal besides the usual three suspects: yellow gold, platinum, and white gold. If so, what did you choose and why? Is there an unspoken no against wedding bands for women in any but the above three metals? For those who have Tungsten rings---are they heavy? Women's bodies change throughout the month, has any monthly bloating affected your ability to wear the ring(I've heard they have to be "dead on" in terms of sizing)
Do Tungsten Carbide wedding bands from Kay Jewelers contain Cobalt? Hey, I have been looking into this with no luck.. every website that sells tungsten-carbide wedding bands seems to stress the negatives of rings that are made with a cobalt (as opposed to nickel) binding. Some include oxidation after wearing for a period of time do to oils from skin.. others include allergic reactions.. My problem is I cannot test these issues without wearing the ring.. and we just bought one (with 90 days to exchange), but wedding isnt for 9 months.. If I knew the Kay/Belden rings were nickel based, it would put my mind at ease a bit.. Can anyone shed light on the situation?
Men: What would your ideal wedding band be like? My fiance wants something gawdy w/ big diamonds all around. I told him that most guys just want something simple, maybe like a thick titanium or tungsten band. So, guys, what would YOU pick for your wedding band?
Is the tungesten ring a good type of wedding ring? I was thinking about getting my fiancee a tungsten (metal) wedding band, but alot of places that i go to dont know what im talking about when i ask them if they have that type of ring. I guess what im trying to ask is if its a "cheap" type of ring or what it is? lol
What is the best kind of wedding band to purchase? my husband is a business owner of an automotive and a tow truck company- I need a very nice wedding band, one that will NOT melt (i.e. GOLD) and get scratched up to easily...... Titanium, Tungsten, or Platinum???
my husband's wedding band broke, isn't there a superstition about this? we are having marital problems.? My husband, whom I love very much, is deployed to Iraq and isn't supposed to wear a wedding band while working but he did on his off-time and the tungsten band broke recently. Unfortunately, we are having marital problems and are currently having a trial separation...at 7,000 miles apart. Im not to contact him until he figures out what he is feeling and contacts me. I used to email him daily, send him letters, cards, packages, and postcards a few times a week. He says ive done nothing wrong and he loves me and knows I love him but he has to work this out on his own. I vaguely remember the broken wedding band superstition, is it coincidence or a sign that the marriage is over? I am 100% true to my husband. In my opinion I have been too good to him. Even he says that I need to let him miss me and realize what he stands to lose. He ordered his tungsten band off the internet and told me a while back that it had a crack in it. He isnt allowed to wear a wedding band while on base in Iraq because he does work with Blackhawk and Chinook engines.
Best value in a mens wedding band? I am looking for a relatively inexpensive mens wedding band. I found several that I like under $250...which is better though, white gold, titanium or tungsten? I'm not looking for anything flashy, just plain and durable.
What makes the best Male wedding band? I assume most people prefer Platinum, I also heard that Platinum is too soft for the common man so most men get white or yellow gold. Does anyone prefer the Tungsten rings? They seem to be the most heavy duty and industrial looking.
Married military men, wedding band question? When you're in the field, do you wear your wedding bands or do you take them off because it can be hazard, i.e. getting stuck in large equipment, etc.? I want to buy my calvary scout a wedding band, but I'm not sure what to get him. I hear tungsten and titanium are very strong, but if he's not going to wear it that much, maybe I should get him something in platinum or white gold. What do you think?
Two wedding bands? My fiance wants a tungsten plain wedding band to wear to work (he's a gas piper / hvac installer and runs piping through his hands all day long, so white gold would be out of the question. It would look like crap every couple days) Anyways, he also likes this other fancypancy white gold ring as well. We both agree that he should get both. He can wear his tuff one at work and then he can wear the nice one for when we go out. How does this sound to you guys?? Lydia, he is a manly man. A manly man that has good taste, that's all.
Do platinum and Tungsten work well together in a ring? I have been looking online at Men’s wedding bands. I’m interested in something Made of Tungsten, but with platinum included. It appears online that there are several choices available, but every jewelry store (I’ve visited more than 10 now) tell me that the metals don’t work well together and thus are not used together in jewelry. Anyone have any clear answers and a good source?
Wedding Band? What is the difference between the metals used for men's wedding bands? My fiance likes the look of titanium and tungsten, but we don't know which is better. He's a firefighter so he wants something that will be durable and won't scratch easily.
Is it wrong to get your husband a new wedding band? When my husband and I got married I really didn't have very much money to get him a nice ring nor did the stores around me have good selection. Well, we've been married a year and a half now. The other day I was just browsing the jewelry at a store and I saw a really amazing ring. I told him about it when he got home from work that night. We went to the store and he tried it on. He really liked it and it's much much much better than the one I got him. The one I got him was like 10k white gold, small, plain band. The one we were looking at was tungsten. I think that's a much better ring am I right? lol. Point is, is it wrong or unacceptable to buy a new wedding band? It's not the one I put on his finger our wedding day but this one is much better. It's the meaning that counts, my friend told me, but I want to know if it's like a bad omen or something along those lines. I want good opinions please, if you've been thru this great! Thank You so much!!!! I think that by buying him a ring that is stronger, more durable that it says something about our love, our marriage. How we've grown and everything we've gone thru we will be just as strong. I think a tungsten ring would symbolize that well. I have thought about getting it blessed by a preist and having him keep the old ring on a chain.
Wedding Band (for the Groom)? What did you pay for your husband's wedding band? How big/wide was it? And where did you get it from? Also, was it white/yellow gold? Platinum? Tungsten? Titanium? What's the best one to go with? Experience-wise? ..Getting Married Soon..and want the best for the best..
Question about wedding band types and sizing...? OK, I know gold can be resized. But are there any other metals that they make rings out of these days that you CAN'T have resized? Like Tungsten, Titanium, Silver, Brass, Steel, etc... I'm kind of shopping around for my fiance's wedding band and want to know just in case I'm looking at something then I KNOW I must buy in his size because it can't be resized or if I'm safe to buy any size because it can be resized... Thanks!!! :) White gold is able to be resized, cuz my rings are white gold :) Yes, I know that a ring that has designs on it wouldn't be able to be resized for the fact that it would mess it up... I'm just asking for general information... I'm probably going to get a flat-surfaced band, not one with etched detailing or whatever... ...I'm also not planning on having it engraved either... at least I wouldn't until I got it sized properly, If I were going to... I know his ring size already, so that's not an issue...
Men's Wedding Band Advice? I am so confused. I need some advice when It comes to men's wedding bands. I want the "white/grey" look for him but I cannot afford platinum. I have been researching other metals. Does anyone have any good advice when it comes to this. I have been looking at palladium, titanium, tungsten, white gold, sterling silver, and even stainless steel. All these choices are confusing and I need to know if anyone has any experience in this stuff. Of course I want something to last for a long time and not turn his finger an odd color. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!
Best metal for a mens wedding ring? What do you think is the best metal for a mens wedding ring/band? Gold, white or yellow, platinum, titanium or tungsten. Also, i was wondering is a tungsten band just cheaper than all the rest of them? Because i rarely hear of it
What is the best kind of wedding band to purchase? my husband is a business owner of an automotive and a tow truck company- I need a very nice wedding band, one that will NOT melt (i.e. GOLD) and get scratched up to easily...... Titanium, Tungsten, or Platinum???
Replace engagement ring with band, or get a wrap? I originally wanted matching wedding bands for my fiance and I but he wants this carbon fiber tungsten band (which is cool) and I would love to get one too but I would just feel so weird not having my engagement ring on anymore. I waited so long for this ring and now I feel like I have to give it up. I'm not looking to spend much money on another ring so I was looking at getting a wrap for the engagement ring, but I haven't found any that I really like and they all cost a hell of a lot more than I really wanted to spend. These carbon fiber tungsten rings are very cheap ($25 plus shipping on e-bay) but they are very durable and we really like them. Anyway, I really don't know any other options and I feel so stuck! To SquggleJay... I liked the idea of putting both on the same finger but the tungsten ring is a complete different look and not at all fancy and I have a really nice princess cut 1/2 carat diamond solitaire engagement ring... And I have small fingers (only a size 6.5 and they are about 2 inches long) so having two rings on one finger would be really uncomfortable, but I really did like the suggestion!
can someone tell me the difference between tungsten and titanium? and if anyone ownes either type, how easily do they scratch? am trying to decide on wedding bands but dont want anything soft and scratchable. MaviGozl: there are plenty of these rings available and as wedding bands, thus why i am asking about them. i agree though that gold etc are noble and precious metals but im not interested in that. my eng ring is 18ct gold and scratched badly i dont want the wedding band to be the same.
I'm shopping for my (mens) wedding band on ebay...need help? Ive been to a few of the jewelers, and around the web, and I noticed that the exact same rings are on ebay for hundreds less than in the jewelry store. Literally the exact same, on ebay for like 20$ at fred mayer for 500$ or so. Is there something wrong with the rings? Are they cheap titanium or tungsten or whatever? Does anyone know of a cool online jeweler with nondescript manly rings? I would really enjoy the savings on my honeymoon if at all possible.
wedding gift for hubby? I want to get my fiancee a nice bracelet. He loves Tungsten...that's what his wedding band is. Which of these do you like better http://www.titaniumkay.com/Black-Tungsten-Carbide-Mens-Link-Bracelet-P103599.html http://www.titaniumkay.com/Tungsten-Carbide-Mens-Diamond-Bracelet-P103424.html
Are tungsten or titanium rings besides gold any good? I'm trying to find a wedding band and I'm not to picky on whether it is gold or not as long as it isn't the yellow gold. While skimming through the stores/websites I noticed more and more rings being made out of tungsten and titanium. Are either of these materials any good as far as lasting and not changing colors or the skin colors? I like the looks of a lot of them better than gold and noticed some cost more but I didn't know how good they were. I'd rather get some opinions before buying one and then it not be all that good.
Risks of wearing a tungsten ring? I got married about five days ago, and my wedding band is made out of tungsten. Gold just didn't go well with my skin tone, so I went with a dark gray metal. Also, I'm really careless with my belongings so my wife wanted me to have something I couldn't break or damage. I have once concern about my ring... If I'd end up getting an allergic reaction or being in an accident or something so I can't get the ring off, what happens? Would they have to cut my finger off to get the ring off!? And if ER's are equipped to get tungsten rings off, can they do this in all cases and how do they do it? The reason I'm asking is because I get injured all the time. From burning myself on the stove to getting stung by bees.
Unique men's Wedding Bands? Does anyone know of a UK retailer who sells Wedding bands for men which are made from tungsten, or other unique metals? I cn find plenty of US retailers and titanium based products. I was thinking of concorde or space shuttle metal but can't seem to get hold of it!
What are the advantages and disadvantages of a tungsten ring? My fiance and I have been looking at wedding bands. He is an electrician is and does a lot of hard work with his hands. We were told that a tungsten ring would be good for him because it is such a strong material. Does anyone have any personal experience with a tungsten ring? Do they really hold up well? Thanks in advance! I looked it up and found this about cutting off tungsten rings... Can a Tungsten ring be cut off? Yes! Please be aware that in any situation where there might be a medical necessity to cut off or remove a tungsten ring--for instance excessive weight gain, hand injury, etc.,--removing a tungsten ring doesn’t pose much more of a challenge than cutting through a gold or platinum wedding band. In our own jewelry shop, as in many other jewelry shops, we have a cutting tool designed for cutting titanium and tungsten wedding bands. In addition, tungsten bands can be fractured into pieces using vise-grip pliers. When we contacted our local hospital emergency room and asked if they were equipped to remove tungsten wedding bands in an emergency, they told us that most hospital emergency rooms are prepared to handle almost anything, and assured us that it would be no problem for them. During our 30 years of jewelry repair experience, we've only seen a dozen or so rings that have been c
Buying wedding bands off ebay??? My fiance and I's budget for wedding band is quite small (like 100 dollars is the most we can spend on each) He really would like a Tungsten ring, but the ones at the jewelers are too expensive. I found a couple on ebay. Has anyone had any luck buying wedding bands off of ebay?? What are your thoughts??
Has anyone got/had a Tungsten Carbide ring? Would just like to know people opinions on this material, ive never heard of it before but as its durability is supposed to be good, it sounds good for Hubby to be's wedding band. Any reviews anyone? x Thanks guys, luckily i seem to have found a site that can engrave on it if i want and they supply special instructions on how to cut off the ring if need be......scary thought that his wedding ring would mean he has to lose his finger in an accident....but i also heard that if it receives an impact hard enough it would shatter rather than squash. just found this http://www.qualitysilver.co.uk/acatalog/Tungsten-Carbide.html
Tungsten carbide rings? My fiance and I just ordered wedding bands and decided to go with tungsten carbide. I have a tendencey to develop a rash from cheap jewelry or even watches and earrings have to be silver, gold, or made for sensitive ears, otherwise they get infected. I know that some of the cheaper tungsten carbide rings use cobalt in the manufacturing process which can cause irritation. We are purchasing "Artcarved" brand ring which aren't supposed to use that process. Do you think it's possible that I will have a reaction? Any info will be greatly appreciated!
Can you help me find a hinged ring shank in metals other than gold or platinum? A friend of mine's husband to be has a badly mangled wedding finger and I'm trying to help her find wedding rings that will fit him (the base of his finger is fine but the knuckle is very large due to damage). The only problem is is that she'd like to get him a ring in either stainless, titanium, or tungsten and I've never seen hinged rings in any of those. Please help us find a hinged ring that will suit as a wedding band...Thanks! :D
Okay so I Love White Gold but....? 2 years ago my fiance went and bought a ring that was Yellow Gold that he thought I would love and I really do love it. However, the wedding band that we bought for him is made of tungsten carbide and better for him because it's not as soft as gold. I love him ring and when showed it to his mother the first thing she asked was if my ring was going to match. This had crossed my mind several times but I could never bear to part with ring he bought for me and want my band to match. My question is whether or not it's wrong that our bands won't match?
