Can a metal detector find my lost titanium wedding band? My wife still cries when I slip on the little titanium band I got on ebay for $16. She reminds me how she'd had my original band engraved especially for me. I lost it in a sorghum field over two years ago. I returned to the field with a rented metal detector. I found all sorts of rusty junk, but no ring. Later that week, I learned in an electronics class that metal detectors only detect ferrous metals. So unless my titanium ring was alloyed with some iron, even a really good metal detector was useless. I've scoured the net and read a lot of accounts from people who have set-off airport metal detectors with titanium body jewelry. So unless these people had a different titanium alloy than mine, the technology does exist to detect titanium. Men's wedding band metals; tungsten, palladium, gold, or titanium? i started looking for a wedding band, i like the dark shiny look of the titanium rings a lot but i guess they cant be resized if your ring size changes during your life, which it almost always does. i wasnt a silver looking band and was thinking about an alternative metal rather than white gold because it kinda looks like crap and loses its silver color after a few years. someone told me palladium dents and scratches easily so i was thinking maybe tungesten, does anyone know if that can be resized? if anyone knows of a good, objective buying guide for metals it would be appreciated. most of the guides ive found either sound unobjective or dont include tungsten and titanium no, there is a metal called palladium. im not getting platium because like the first person said its horribly expensive and its soft so it dents easily and cheaper stuff looks just as good

Platinum engagment rings? Too soft? My friend is an "engagement planner" and she told me to avoid platinum for engagement / wedding rings. Even though it's a wonderful metal, platinum rings are very soft, like gold, and will eventually wear thin on the bottom of the ring. Some of my married friends regret getting platinum because they always have to run to the jeweler every couple of years, dropping $200-300 to fill the ring back. Is platinum really that soft? Should I get a titanium ring instead? I don't care about price; I'm more concerned about the durability of the ring.

Are wedding bands supposed to match? I always thought the bride and grooms bands were supposed to match. The ladies ring a little smaller, but same material, shape, design. But since we started looking at engagement rings, they almost always have a wedding band that matches the diamond ring. Obviously, his wedding band would not match (not even close) if we went with the diamond band that would match the diamond ring.
