We designed my ring out of two parts; the first band has a half caret heart-shaped diamond. The second band has four quarter-caret jewels, two diamonds and two pink sapphires. Deceased mother's wedding ring etiquette? My mother died last year and left me her wedding/engagement rings (they are welded together). My bf and I decided to get engaged and I said I wanted to use my mother's ring. Is this weird? I've heard of inheriting grandmothers' rings, but it it weird for me to use my own mother's wedding/engagement rings? It has a very unique design, so to get a new wedding band to match would require a custom ring, costing 3x the usual cost of a pre-made band, not including the fact it has intricate detail. Heres a question for you. Involves super glue and a wedding ring.? So how about this? How about the end of a super glue bottle being glued shut? So, to help my wife and her friend fix some cow key chain that had hit the floor breaking the bovines fake foot, I punch a hole in the glue tube to extract glue and alas... all over my hand and on my wedding ring. Now I coudnt move my ring finger because every time I did my wedding ring would pull on my finger thus making it impossible. Can the engagement ring and wedding band be made of different metals? I found a wonderful engagement ring with a white-gold band. Since I plan to get a plain band design, I would like to go with platinum since it is considered the best. Is it okay to have a platinum band with a white-gold ring? Tattooed wedding ring? My husband and I are coming up on our 10th anniversary. I have acute eczema, and am unable to wear a wedding ring because it invariably causes a painful break-out (I've been through three rings in the course of our marriage, including one specifically designed for allergy and eczema sufferers - no luck). How do I tell my fiance that I don't like the wedding ring? I am getting married in two months and I don't like the wedding ring that my fiance picked out. It came as a set with the engagement ring (which I absolutely LOVE, it's perfect) but I'm not thrilled with the wedding band. It's just not a style that I like and with the way that it's designed, it's not really something that can be worn on its own (you'd have to always have the engagement ring on to complete the look). I wasn't a fan of it when he showed it to me after we got engaged, but I thought it might grow on me. Unfortunately, it's been nearly a year and a half and we are getting married in two months, but I still don't like it. Do I tell him, and if so, how do I do it in a nice way? I'm not sure if he was able to pick out the wedding band for the set or if he picked the engagement ring and this band was what came with it, so I can't gauge if he'd be offended. I don't want to hurt his feelings but I also know that the wedding band isn't me. Help! Not particularly liking the wedding ring doesn't signal "trouble ahead." Where can I find 1999-2002 style Bridal Set Wedding rings? I had an engagement ring from that era & really liked the styles they offered then. I had a 3 stone ring with marquee cut diamonds surrounded by lots of medium & small baguettes. I have looked on many sites & don't care for the styles today at all. I am afraid of being ripped off by shopping on e-bay & do not want to pay someone a tremendous amount of money to design one that I know is probably laying around in a backroom somewhere. Can a wedding ring be too cheap? I'm the ultimate thrifty shopper and I think I might have outdone myself. HTB and I both want stainless steel rings for it's durability and look. Anyway, he picked out the design he wanted and I found it for $14 instead of over $100 like at the jewelry store. Workmanship and everything is the same. I know for a fact it's stainless steel and identical to the one in the shop except for the brand name on it. I guess the meat of the question is would you think badly of a marriage if you found out the wedding rings cost less than a steak dinner?

Will laser engraving on the outside of a tungsten wedding band ring hold up over time? My fiance wants to get a tungsten wedding band with laser engraving on the OUTSIDE of the band (it has a celtic knot design on the outside). He is worried, however, that over time the celtic knotwork will get scratched. I thought that tungsten was a pretty tough metal, and the woman at the jewelry store assured us that the design work would not scratch over time. I have my great grand mothers wedding ring and i was wondering how much it would be to put it in a new setting The ring is gold and kind of gaudy and me and my boyfriend were wondering how much aprox it would be to take out the big diamond and the 4 small ones and put them in a new setting of my design in white gold...however my mother wants the gold and the emerald from the ring back (for my sister).. any aprox would be greatly appriciated...my engagement depends on it lol ! Should I buy Pt950 or Pt900 wedding rings? I like simple designs but most shops offer only Pt900 simply-designed rings. Customized Pt950 ones take one to two months to be delivered and I do not have enough time. I am wondering about durability of the rings. Does anyone have experience on this matter? Thanks for the GREAT Answers. How about wedding ring selection.? We have been debating, to a minor degree, about the engagement ring. I am a Pisces and as such tend to be creative and romantic. When we decided that we wanted a long term "permanent" relationship my GF of 18 months moved in with me and I was preparing for the day to pop the question. She knows it is coming and finally after about 60 days she started inquiring as to what's going on. Her girl friend pressure. I explained that I was waiting for the right time and was working on the ring. She put the pressure on ???s wise and so I let it slip that I had designed the ring with a jeweler. She then informed me that she really only wanted a certain type of ring. Single stone, princess cut, 3 carat, in platinum setting. Well considering this was not even close to what I had designed, I was taken back. I asked her for more details and so we looked it up on the Internet. She acted stocked that I did not know that all women, NOT the bride, judge the man on the type and size of the ring on the woman's finger. Anyway, I conceded her point as to this is what she wanted and so I told her, well based upon the cost of this ring it would have to wait several more months since I did not feel comfortable borrowing money for an engagement ring. I would rather wait and pay cash. She seemed fine with that resolution however now that it has been another 45 days or so and we are in our new home which I had big expenses for, she is now telling me that she is getting too much flack at work and friends as to "where's the ring, if you are engaged?" We both refer to each other as financee's .... we have just not set the actual date, and the ring is a big investment that needs time to secure. So I guess the questions are.... 1. Is it not a problem to say you are engaged without a ring? 2. Is it not OK to wait to pay cash or is going into debt a COMMON deal as she describes it? wedding band with cheap weave design? We bought it for $300, and now its falling apart. My husband wore it for like 3 weeks, and the weave design pretty much broke in half, and is now falling off. I spoke to the jeweler, and they said they can have the manufacturer look at it, and they will decide if they should fix it. If they do fix it (which they should) is there any way they can ACTUALLY fix it, without pretty much redoing the whole ring. Im pissed off!

Looking for wedding band, does anyone know about ring wraps? My fiancé had my engagement ring made. The stone is a 1/2 carat heritage diamond (150-200 years old). The front of the stone is flat and square in shape. The band is white gold, and the crown was custom made to hold the stone (because of it's unusual shape). We are getting married in September and need to get our wedding bands soon. I can't find anything that I feel matches it very well. I like the look of "ring wraps" that I have seen, but all the ones I've seen are designed for round settings. Tungsten ring with an inlay or just plain? I have decided to buy a tungsten ring to wear as my wedding ring. I rather like this design http://www.qualitysilver.co.uk/acatalog/Tungsten-Ring.html turm9 (top left) do you think it would be ok with a silver inlay or should I just get a plain tungsten ring. I know the silver isn't as tough and will scratch but is there anything else that I should be aware of. Basically plain or with an inlay?

Tired of planning the wedding- has anyone else felt like this? There are so many aspects to getting married and i swear i am on info overload right now! I have the huge binder seperated into sections, from contracts to dresses. I have samples of invites and magnets, swatches and ring designs. Monogrammed towels to mongrammed outfits cover the wish lists. ARRGH! I wish i could just scream! Pushy cousins to seat placecards, presents and guests lists. All of my conversations deal with it, and the funny thing is, the wedding is over a year away. How did you or are you handling the stress of planning your perfect day? We are having a smaller-medium sized wedding with about 150 people. They are coming from all over the country. My fiance is helpful, but he knows i am picky and will fret all the way to the end. I am not planning to spend more than 6000 though. I am a budget shopper, thrifty in all ways! I just thought it would be easier to plan, but even when you delegate, you still double check that to make sure it is what you want. I am so glad I only believe in getting married once!!

Jewish law on Wedding Rings? I have been reading various law on Jewish wedding rings and have seen various mentions of either no stones, no holes, some say no bumps. Some say this is only for the Woman. i have seen a comment about the man's is more traditional more still different. Anyone care to explain? Mine coming is a "Ani Le Dodi" which has the letters cut out. Some others I have seen have raised letters or cut out with backing. Husband still keeps ex's engagement ring...it's goregous!? Hi, when my husband was going through his divorce with his ex, she gave her wedding band and engagement ring back to him. The engagment ring is a beautiful - 2 carat diamond and white gold....and as terrible as it is to say...I nearly love it more than my engagment ring. I go to it often to look at it and try it on. I don't feel like by doing so I'm bringing myself any bad luck, but I do feel guilty that I'm admiring something that isn't mine. The thing is...I'd love to have it (even though I wear yellow gold), or love to have the diamonds taken out and a new ring designed from it. I have no idea how to approach this topic with my husband though. And even if he'd go for it, he's very conservative. I told him I found the ring and didn't let on I knew whose it was. He told me that he bought it for some other woman in his past and now has no purpose for it. He said he is thinking about selling it. I would hate for him to sell it...what do I do?

Tattoo artists please help me! Tattooed wedding bands.? K. So my husband is deploying to Iraq and will not be able to wear his wedding ring for safety reasons. So we are wanting to do some kind of tattooing on our fingers so he can still have that representation. Ive read alot about how if you get a band all the way around it will fade on the underside of your finger very quickly. So I thought we could get each others names tattooed very small on top of our fingers. Shane on mine and Amanda on his. (My theory here is that people at amusement parks put your name on rice all the time. ???) I have had a really horrible time trying to find pictures on the web.
