Wedding Gift? I'm in my Sister's wedding coming up in three weeks. I have helped her with the planning. My husband is playing the music for the wedding and dejaying the reception. I arrainged for my friend and myself to work the bar. Plus we're watching their baby while they're on their honeymoon. My Mother asked me to go with to to pick out a present for the wedding. I told her that my husband and I were not getting her a present because of everything we've already have done and will be doing. My Mother got upset and said I still had to get her a gift. So my question is what is the protocall in this situatution? Do I need to go out and buy a gift? I'm not complaining about how much work we've put into the wedding. I'm just wondering why my Mother thinks we need to get a gift.

Wedding Gift? I purchased a wedding gift on the couples registry. The gift wont be sent before the wedding. Actually, since its not in stock, the store says it will be delayed one month after the wedding. Should I put the order # in a wedding card - letting the couple know that I bought them a gift, but it will be late. I've only been to one other wedding before and assume I should be bringing a gift as well. There is no gift registry and I do not want to spend too much more. Wedding gift....? My neice was married last June and we just didn't have the money at the time to buy a gift and we couldn't atttend the wedding because of my husbands job. (quite a long distance to travel) At the time we looked at the bridal registry and there just wasn't anything we could afford on it. We have 4 children of our own and my husband is a teacher. In the past when we have given gifts to her and her sister, they have asked..."is this all?" I know their other relatives give many expensive gifts to them. I want to give them something but I feel cheap sending a gift card for $25, which is really all we can afford? Would you send it or just go on with life and spend it on your own kids?

Wedding Gift? A childhood friend is getting married. We became close friends during a certain time of our life. During this time, she was very shallow and mean but I really needed a friend. Relunctantly, I later asked her to be a part of my wedding. Since then, we have grown apart and the last time I saw her she behaved very coldly. Now, she is getting married. In light of our last encounter, I just don't know how to respond in gift giving. I have sent a gift already costing around $60 but am torn because she was a part of my wedding. They actually hate each other, bad feelings, but why drag us into it. I wanted to be gone trust me, but my husbands mom and sister said we should go and have fun?? The bride called her dad after she blew up and asked if we were still going to the wedding, we thought they might apologize?? instead were told not to mingle.
