Wedding Ceremony??? So my boyfriend and I are not religious and were planning on having a Justice of the Peace preform our wedding ceremony. However, a friend from work is an ordained minister and willing to do our ceremony. Does anyone know how this works. Does she have to preform a traditional religious ceremony or is she allowed to preform a more secular ceremony? P.S. She knows that we are not religious. We are having a traditional-like ceremony. We have a beatiful location booked and 100 guests will be invited to attend. So it will be somewhat traditional, just minus the religious content. We have nothing against spiritual ceremonies, but it is not really us. I just find it difficult to ask a minister to exclude religious content from the wedding ceremony. And were she is a friend I do not want to offend her in any way. I am afraid that taking God out of the ceremony will seem like I disrespect her beliefs. Do you think that this will be disrespectful.
Wedding~Ceremony? I am getting married April 5th. We spoke with the pastor and he gave some ideas of a wedding ceremony. Honestly I dont like them much and he said if I wanted I could find some ideas and let him know. I have looked but I guess I'm not finding what I want. Does anyone have any ideas of other websites to find these. Please and thank you Im not quite sure of the wording....I have never been to a wedding I havent a clue really what i'm doing. I suppose a simple something the preist can say. Yes we are having our ceremony in an open field at a friends ranch, weather permitting!
Ever played violin for a wedding ceremony? Hi! I've been asked to play violin for a wedding ceremony (I live in Pa) though I play very well I have never done a wedding. I'm wondering how much I should charge? Also how do I know how to get the timing of the music down so it ends at the right moment after they come down the isle when there's no way to know until the rehearsal itself. I'd appreciate any advice from someone who's performed for wedding on how to go about things. Thanks so much!
What happens to the engagement ring during the wedding ceremony? Does the engagement ring go on the other hand or isnt worn at all on the wedding day/wedding ceremony?
What are some good wedding songs to sing at a ceremony? My friend is going to be singing at my wedding ceremony and i would like to know what songs are the best. I really like the newer music than the older.
Which beach in Aruba is best for a small wedding ceremony? I am getting married in Aruba in May. We are planning a beachside, sunset ceremony. My question is, which beach there is best for a small wedding ceremony?
What are the order of events for a wedding ceremony and reception? I'm trying to figure out some details for my wedding, but I need to know what the order of events are for the ceremony portion and the reception. Where to hold a wedding ceremony in Duabi? Which hotels could anyone recommend to holda wedding ceremony for a small group of people, without spending the earth? With a restaurant etc? Preferably near the ski centre!
What's the best way to include a child in a wedding ceremony? Anyone have any advice on including a kid in a wedding ceremony? I'm getting married in about 3 weeks, and we have everything lined up, except we'd like to include my 4-year-old son in the wedding in some meaningful way. He loves my fiance, they spend tons of time together and he's already trying out calling him Dad. He's helped with the shopping and wedding planning and is crazy about "all of us" getting married into our new family. So what's the best way to include him in the vows or some other part? Anyone have experience with this? There's no biological father in the picture or other kids to consider, so it's not the exact same thing as blended-family weddings, which I've seen a little advice on. Also, does anyone know of rings for kids for such an occasion? I saw Family Medallions but he doesn't like necklaces and wants a ring.
Does the wedding band go on the outside of the engagement ring during the wedding ceremony? If the bride wears her engagement ring during the wedding ceremony, then the wedding band must be placed outside of it on the ring finger. However, the wedding band is traditionally worn on the inside. When does the order of the rings on the finger change, so that the wedding band is on the inside?
Would this outfit be ok to wear to the wedding ceremony? Next weekend we have a wedding to attend. The ceremony is at 1pm in a church. I'd like to wear a skirt (navy w/tan,red and white horizontal stripes on the very bottom) and a red blazer with flip flops. Would this be an ok outfit? I plan on going home after the ceremony and changing into a dress for the 6pm reception. Any suggestions?
Is it okay to have a wedding ceremony without a reception? I am a bride to be with a ridiculously large family that is very close. In preparing our guest list, my side so far is 122, and his is only 20!! I've trimmed the list down as much as I could and the lowest i can get to is 107, but we simply cannot afford to feed all of those people. Would it be appropriate just to have a wedding ceremony and invite everyone without hosting a formal reception?
How much time in between the wedding ceremony and the reception? The ceremony and the reception are scheduled in two separate locations (both out doors). The ceremony is at 11am, not sure what time to have the reception. The two locations are approx. 20 mins apart. The style of the wedding is semi casual / outdoor bbq. I know we will need time to take pictures and set up at the grove but I don't want to leave people hanging around with nothing to do. Is it appropriate for the bride and groom to arrive after the guest or should we be there when the guests arrive for the reception. Please help.
Can a deacon perform a wedding ceremony outside of the church? I'm a catholic and I don't want to get married inside of a church. My husband and I are already married through justice of the peace ( we did it at the courthouse ). I was wondering if I can have a wedding ceremony performed by a deacon at a location other than the church. I really wanna have an outdoors wedding but I'm not sure if it's possible. Am I stuck with a courthouse wedding or can I still have my dream wedding? Can someone please help me?
Any ideas for transitions during a wedding ceremony? I will be having a non-traditional wedding at a museum and we will be having a ceremony on the dance floor before dinner. All of our guests will be seated at their respective dinner tables during the ceremony. After the ceremony, we will eat dinner. Any ideas for something to do as a transition between the end of the ceremony and the beginning of dinner? I dont want it to be a weird transition after the judge presents us as a couple until the point where dinner is served. Thanks. The first dance would be a great idea. We're just worried about the bustle of her dress only allowing her to rock back and forth during the dance.
What are good tips for a small wedding ceremony? I'm having both, my side and his side of our immediate family to hang out for a weekend somewhere close to home. Any ideas that would make the ceremony exceptionally nice without a heavy price? Should I wear a formal wedding dress?
What are some wedding ceremony ideas- not performed in a church? I am brainstorming ideas of where to have a wedding ceremony. -not in a church, not necessarily outside (because of the worry about rain) but i would take places into consideration, and i have a large guest list (300 or so). I would also like this wedding to take place in Ohio around/near the Findlay, Oh area.

Do you wear your engagement ring during the wedding ceremony? so i know that the wedding band is supposed to be worn on the inside, before the engagement ring, closest to your knuckles. what i dont know is if during the actual ceremony, do you not wear your engagement and the groom puts both rings on, or does he take off the engagement ring to put the wedding band on first? anyone know?
What to do after a small wedding ceremony/dinner? Due to financial issues my fiance and I have had to cancel our reception and have decided to still keep the wedding at the church. We have planned a dinner for close friends and relatives after the ceremony at a nice resturaunt; I'm wondering now what do he and I do after that? go home? a hotel? we are taking our honeymoon 2 days after, we would like to have some free time to relax and get things together before we leave. Is there anything wrong with going home after? what did you or someone you know do. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks a lot :) Just wanted to add; I live in North Jersey we don't have bed and breakfast's here.
Are you allowed to have a religious wedding after a civil ceremony? My boyfriend and I are thinking of having a civil wedding ceremony ASAP for insurance reasons. However, we have our heart set on having a regular religious ceremony as well. Will a pastor performing our religious ceremony have a problem if we already have a marriage license? Do we have to tell our guests that we had a quick ceremony? Neither of us will feel truly married until it is in a church under the eyes of God, but the circumstances prevent that at present. We are both teachers in California and both grew up in Michigan, so we want the religious ceremony to be in MI. Also, since we're teachers, we want it to be this summer. So, bottom line, is what we want to do OK? A few more details--we both are incredibly religious and having the religious wedding is important to us. There's just no possible way for a while. We have been dating for 5 years and living together for one and acknowledge that our current situation is not the way God intended it to be. Gifts are not an issue to us at all; we just want a celebration with our family and friends.
In a wedding ceremony who walks the groom in? Me and my fiance are in the mist of planning for our wedding that is off in the near future. And we had one question that we do not have an answer to. Who walks the groom in or is he already standing up there when the ceremony starts? And exactly what is the name for the men who is not the best man, and what are their duties?
Whats the best way to transition from a wedding ceremony to reception if they are in the same room? We are marrying in a large mostly glass room with a moderately sized balcony over a lake and we are trying to switch from ceremony seating arrangements (rows of seats) to pulling out tables and using the same chairs at the tables. It is a small wedding, around 50 people and we need to get the people out of the room to rearrange, but dont know how. we are not using complete place settings, its a buffet. (tables are folded up in a closet beforehand).
How would you like to do your wedding ceremony/party ? If I will marry one day I would like to do the ceremony on the beach. With families + a few real friends. I would like that everyone comes without shoes and colourful nice dresses. I would like to put a lot of candle and a lot of colourful flowers all over the beach. I would like to wear a nice white, short sexy dress. And my partner in white too. I would like to serve fresh fish, lobster, conchmeat, shrimps and everything (fresh as well) from the sea. And for the meatlovers some kebab and juicy baby backribs, I mean it have to be like a nice long table on the beach decorated with candles and flowers and fresh tropical fruits. With all these foods on it and fresh vegetables + salads. Another small table for my wedding cake , and chocolates and cookies. For music some nice cocktail music. And to finish put some fireworks at the end of the party. How would you like to do your wedding ceremony/party ?? Express in your own word , how you would like to do it.!!

Any ideas on creative, unique wedding programs to pass out to guests at ceremony? My colors are Deep red and Pale yellow. I'm using daisies and roses. I need ideas for something unique, creative, cute and somewhat inexpensive for wedding ceremony programs. I also like using scrapbook stuff for projects. Any ideas?
How long does a Methodist wedding ceremony typically last? I'm not religious at all so I don't know about anything pertaining to religious ceremonies or services, but how long generally would a Methodist wedding ceremony last? I've heard that Catholic weddings can run very long, but I don't know about Methodist services. It's not a big deal, I'm just curious because I tend to get fidgety when I have to sit some where fora long time (it's just a nervous thing that I try to control but I don't do a very good job of actually controlling).
What would be the earliest time of day you'd recomend having a wedding ceremony? My fiance and I first thought it would be fun to have a wedding followed by a brunch buffet, but that would probably make for a really early morning. What would be the earliest time of day you'd recomend having a wedding ceremony? Typically how many hours ahead would I have to start preparing for it? Thanks!
Does anyone know any newer christian songs that would be good for a wedding ceremony? My friend is singing during our ceremony. She is a christian singer but i wanted to see if you guys had any suggestions. Our wedding is a very elegant formal wedding and mostly classical music will be used for the prelude and throughout the wedding . THanks!
Song for congregation to sing at my wedding ceremony? Can anything think of a great song that could be sung at my wedding ceremony? It needs to be related to love or happiness, be easy for everyone to sing along to (so either most people know it or it is easy to pick up) and not a hymn. Probably something a bit older - not a modern top 40 pop song. Ideas - Here Comes the Sun - Bealtes, Perfect Day - Lou Reed, You Are The Sunshine of my Life - Stevie Wonder >> But these just don't quite fit the bill (but getting close)... Many thanks! (P.S The Vicar is more than happy with this)
What Bible readings can be used in a wedding ceremony? I am getting married in April 2008 and I am looking for recommendations on Bible readings that would be suitable for a wedding ceremony. Thank you.
Whats the best way to invite people to your wedding ceremony only, not the reception? I have people who i work with that i would really like to come to my wedding, but we are restricted with numbers for the reception. Is it rude to invite them to come to the ceremony only? Should i send them an actual invitation? If so, how do i word it? Please realise that im not trying to be rude! Its just that i have been planning my wedding for about 2 1/2 years and ive only worked with these people for about 6 months. Id really love to be able to invite them to my reception, but it would add like 20 people to the guest list and we cant actually fit that many people inside the reception house! I thought that inviting them to the ceremony at least would be less rude than not inviting them at all!
How much does it cost to have someone perfom a wedding ceremony? I was just wondering how much it would be to have a justice of the peace, minister, etc. perform a wedding ceremony...I know it varies, but I really have NO CLUE so just a ballpark figure....thanks!
What is the traditional procedure for the use of Arras (unity coins) in a Philippine wedding ceremony? I am American, and my fiancee is Filipina. We are having a small, semi-formal, close family and friends only wedding ceremony, and we want to include several of the traditional Philippine wedding customs such as the veil, cord, and arras. I pretty much understand how the veil and cord work, but I cannot find anything about what we do with the Arras. We will have an Arras-bearer to bring the coins down the isle, but what do we do with them once they get there?
Is it customary to give a gift to a district magistrate after performing a wedding ceremony? I know it is customary to give a minister or priest a gift for performing a wedding ceremony, but is it a good idea to do the same for a magistrate/judge?
Does anyone have ideas about where to have a wedding ceremony in Cleveland, Ohio? I am looking for a place for a wedding ceremony only. Not sure where to go around the Cleveland area. Botanical Gardens is pricey. Looking for any suggestions. Ceremony will be in June of 2007. Would prefer something outside with colorful flowers or something to that effect. Thanks!
Any advice for a proper wedding ceremony and reception at a hotel? I'm Jewish and he is Unitarian. We've decided after having a civil ceremony at city hall to go for another proper wedding up in Northern Alberta at a hotel we will be working at, maybe. I'd like to rent a banquet hall. My parents will pay for it but I want to be fair to them. Any suggestions?
A meaningful way to include our 3 sons in our wedding ceremony? We're getting married, and just now starting the planning process of our wedding. He has 2 sons, ages 8 and 9, and I have a son, age 11. We'd love to include them in the wedding ceremony, just not sure what would be the best way. Any suggestions?
What are some interesting/unique ideas for an outside wedding ceremony? Hi, Im getting married in July 2007 and the ceremony will be held outside at a park. Its going to be a very private ceremony with just our immediate family present but we are having a reception following the ceremony with our closest friends and family :)The wedding party is also just family (our siblings, my niece and nephew). So I was wondering if anyone has any interesting or unique ideas that we could add to the ceremony to make it more special.
Can a Catholic priest conduct a wedding ceremony in another catholic church? I am a Catholic and want to have a church wedding at my Parish. However, my parents and some of my relatives do not speak English. I know there are Chinese speaking priest in the Catholic Church in Chinatown. How do I have an electric guitar and microphone at a wedding ceremony without power outlets? I am having a wedding ceremony on the beach where there is no electricity available. I would like to have an electric guitar and a microphone to perform a song to approximately 100 guests.
How did you choose to be addressed during your wedding ceremony? My fiance and I have been given several options as to how we want to be addressed/address each other during our wedding ceremony, and we're having a hard time choosing. We can choose to be called just by our first names, first and middle, first and last, or first, middle, and last. We don't want to sound too formal, but not too casual either.
What is a good wedding ceremony song played with a clarinet?? I am having a friend play the clarinet at my wedding ceremony including when i walk down the isle, she can have accompaniment of a cd. What are some beautiful songs to use for both during the ceremony and when I walk down the isle?????
What do I do with an outdoor wedding ceremony and music? I am having my wedding ceremony outdoors on the front porch of my family's home. It is a beautiful spot, but how do I incorporate music? I don't want to hire a band or anything. Is it ok to play a cd?
Wedding solo during the ceremony. What are good song ideas? I'm asking my friend to sing a solo during the wedding ceremony. She has a great voice... very delicate and beautiful. I'm not sure what song I'd like for her to sing though. Does anyone have any good ideas?.. She can sing mostly any kind of song wonderfully. Something classy and delicate would be nice though. Ideas? It is a religious ceremony. The church has 50 foot high ceilings (gothic cathedral style) so the vocals will be good there. The solo will most likely be after I get up there but before the vows and 'to do' about us happens. The song can be done acapella, with piano, pipe organ or with cello, guitar.. really anything. I'd like it to come across as classy (a classic or traditional love song would be great). I mostly just asked her because I'd like a good soloist and I really like her voice. I'm not sure exactly what kind of message I want to get across just yet. (Good questions.. thanks) Maybe a unity candle solo would be good..
What is the point of a wedding ceremony? Why bother with a wedding ceremony? Who is it "for"? Does it matter in the end whether it was big or small, lavish or simple? What do you think?
what should i dress in a wedding ceremony? It's my first time to attend an American wedding. I'll go with my host family. The bride and groom are friends of my host family members'. Should i bring some gifts to them? If so, what should i bring? ( It's my first time to meet them.) What should i dressed in? ( casual or formal?) What should say to them? ( some good wishes?) Sorry. So many questions i've got. But i really need you help. I don't want to do anything offensive in the ceremony.
Is it possible to get a Christian wedding ceremony outside of a church? My partner and I are thinking about possible wedding venues. We are both strong Christians and want a Christian ceremony but do not want to get married in a church and are thinking of getting married in a manor house where we will also have the reception. Is it possible to get a vicer to marry you in a manor house? Would this include the registration as well or does someone else do this?
Is it rude to only invite certain people to your wedding ceremony and others to the reception? I just responded to a post that I thought was totally APPROPRIATE. However a lady on the post (Royallady1947) said that it would be rude to have a wedding and not invite everyone to it. The "asker" wanted to know how to word invitations because she was having a small, intimate ceremony for her wedding and then inviting everyone else to the reception. Her family consisted of over 150 people and she wanted to keep the cermony intimate with just close friends and family, but invite everyone else to the reception. I was thinking of doing this same type of thing, so I was just curious on other peoples thoughts. I think the wedding ceremony is about the bride and groom and the reception is about celebrating, if the bride and groom only want certain people to watch them take their vows, i think it is totally appropriate.... The question is called "How to word a wedding invitation when guests are only invited to reception?" and the asker name is hannahmarissa2 if u want to search it
Wedding ceremony? I am preforming a wedding in a month, the couple wants to do the "Cord of three strands" ceremony. Has anyone done this, where did you get the cords and ring. Did you make them? How? Did you buy it? Where? I know it is not my responsibility. However, I want to help them out. They are as clueless as I am of where to find this item.
Wedding Ceremony!!!? During a wedding ceremony, does the minister acknowledge the couple bride first or groom first throughout?????? For instance........ Corinthians one says that love is patient and kind. It is not jealous or boastful, not arrogant or rude. Love does not insist on its own way. It does not rejoice in the wrong, but rather rejoices in the right. Love bears all things; believes all things; hopes in all things; and endures all things. Love never ends. This marriage is a symbol of _____________________and____________________’s commitment to that love. Who's name would go first???
Wedding Ceremony? My fiance and I are planning a small wedding for this summer (and on a budget). We'd like to use our church because it is meaningful to us and, to be honest, because it is free. Unfortunately, our church is fairly large--it could seat about 250--and our wedding is small-about 60 people. We are already planning to restrict seating to the first number of pews, but I'm wondering if anyone has any other ideas for helping to make the sanctuary not seem so empty. Is this even a big deal or will it not make much difference?
Wedding Ceremony? Ok, Me and my husband didn't have the money to throw a wedding so we just went to the JP. So my question is, Do you think it is stupid to have a wedding???? I forgot to add.... We have the money now to throw a wedding and I have always wanted one. So what do you think?? Have a wedding after your married?? For the smart @$$ Bond, if you read the details... I said I forgot to add....let me see if I can slow this down a bit for you.... I did not get the money within 10 mins of the posting, I didn't mention in the post that I now have the money to pay for a wedding but I didn't a year and a half ago when we went to the JP.
Wedding Ceremony? So, I kind of need a play by play of how a wedding ceremony goes. I have the jist of it all, but--ya know. I need like word for word of what is said if you know what I mean. Thanks! I'm not actually getting married, its a weird situation that I don't know how to explain I just needed to know the ways of a ceremony. Someone wanna tell me th difference between a civil ceremony and a religious one?
Wedding ceremony? So I am planning a wedding and was wondering if anyone has any tips on decorating a gazebo....also the place where we are paying to have the wedding is it common to have the officiant included or get one on your own? Another thing is that we decided not to have bridesmaids and groomsmen bc it is a small simple wedding and we both don't have alot of family and our families are from different states so we are sure not all will be able to make it.....so we are having our one son to be ring bearer and our neice to be flower girl but any suggestions on intro ( my dad is dead so I have no one to walk me down the aisle) Which reminds me....how long before the wedding should you send invites so you know who actually will show up???? And not overspend on guests who won't be there
wedding ceremony!?!?!? My boyfriend and I would like to make our own ceremony without being legal cause of situations and problems right now! But we want to do this, to show each other we will still be with one another! So, we were thinking of doing this ourselves, no one else, just me and him! What are some idea's of what to do, and what to say and all! I know all the 'I take thee (name) to be my ...etc...- but anything else? Any idea's at all! And the reason we doni't want to do it legally is b/c we'd want to keep it a secret, and too scared of our parents finding out and causeing problems right now! I'm 19, he's 21 if i wanted to make my parents mad, i'd go enlope and tell them eventually- but thats not it! And yes, we are commited- but he has been gone for Iraq, and is leaving again this thursday...we want to do something speical.....incase something happens..... yes, you can say a commitment ceremony insead, thats what it is!
Wedding ceremony.....? My deployed Hubby & I got married 4mths ago before he deployed to Iraq. We had a VERY small wedding & I mean small , maybe 5 people . We wanted to do it before he left. At 1st I didn't want anything big & I still don't but ALOT of family members didn't get to share the joy with us . Do you think we should have a nice reception and renewal of vows when he comes home ? Or just have a big wedding with the church and attendants , etc ?
Wedding Ceremony? So Im getting married September 22nd '07 and Im trying to figure out the wedding program and I have no idea what Im doing! I dont know what is suppose to happen when and what everything means. Im SOOO confused! Please help, I feel so stupid for asking!
Wedding Ceremony Seating Etiquette? I'm having my ceremony and reception at the same location. The reception will be inside the building while the ceremony will be at a gazebo about 20 feet away from the building alongside a beautiful river. Problem is, due to the small area (building, riverbank, etc) they can only put out 30 chairs for the gazebo ceremony, but there would be some standing room. So the question is, is it rude to have Standing Room Only at your ceremony? If so, should we only invite 30 (out of 120) guests to just the ceremony and invite everyone else to the reception only? I know that would probably be the logical thing, but the ceremony is literally right next to the reception hall so guests arriving a little early to the reception would probably walk right by the ceremony. Any ideas on whether it's considered really rude to have to stand during a wedding ceremony? The ceremony will be very short (about a half hour or less). Thanks
Wedding ceremony in Montgomery Country Maryland Question!? Hello, my fiance and I have decided to wed before he is deployed to Iraq. We're just going to do something small, go to the justice of the peace and have a civil ceremony. His father, however, doesn't think that a ceremony is involved when you go to the justice of the peace. He says that you just fill out the paperwork and you're married. But his mother and I believe that there is in fact a ceremony that takes place at the county clerk office. It's small and simple, not at all like the wedding ceremony's most people are used to, but there is still a ceremony, still the exchanging of rings, and you still say your vows. I can't seem to find any information that will prove any of us right or wrong. Does anybody know about civil ceremonies? Is there actually ceremony! Please help!
Another Wedding Dilemma..Beach or Catholic Ceremony? Hi..This is was my original wedding plans..**beach wedding ceremony at a destination location which is the same state but about 2 hours flight & immediately followed by the reception** BUT the thing is I'm Catholic & after some research I realised it's not possible to have a beach wedding that is recognised by the Catholic Church.. BUT is it possible & okay by the Catholic Church to have a non-catholic wedding ceremony at the beach and then followed by a Catholic Church wedding ceremony/blessings at the church.. And which should we have first? the Catholic Church ceremony followed by the beach wedding? or the other way around? And does my husband who isn't Catholic have to be baptised before the Catholic wedding blessings? Just want anyone's views/advice ..or even better someone who were/was in the same shoes..Thank You :) I've always wanted a beach wedding..the cool breeze..soft wet sand beneath your feet.. And my parents are strong practicing Catholics.
Wedding ceremony question...? I thought of a way to save a little money for my wedding. Let me know what you think. I wanted to not have a ceremony site and just do the ceremony at the reception site. Have an aisle down the center of the guest tables. When the guests come in, the ushers will seat them to their table where they can watch the ceremony and enjoy the reception. The bride and groom will stand facing their table during the ceremony but sit facing the guests during the reception. Is this making sense. I wanted to figure out a way to save money for my wedding and this was one of the ideas I came up with. By the way the wedding will be outdoors in a garden. The colors are a deep blue and white with white flowers everywhere. What do you think?
Wedding ceremony - two different religions - Hindu & Greek Orthodox? My bf and I are both from strong cultures, he is Lebanese (greek orthodox) and I am Indian (Hindu). His religion does not recognize non-christians, so we can’t marry in a greek orthodox church unless I convert (which I don’t want to). My religion allows us to be married in a traditional hindu ceremony, without him converting. I would be willing to have 2 ceremonies, but since we can’t have a greek orthodox I am suggesting we do a hindu ceremony and a Christian wedding (just not in an orthodox church). However he says I have to sacrifice my ceremony since he has to sacrifice his (by marrying a non-christian). His solution is to give up both ceremonies and just have a civil wedding. It breaks my heart to know that I will never be married in the way I dreamt since I was young. Does anyone have any ideas of how to resolve the issue, or has anyone had a similar situation, and what happened?
Small wedding ceremony and big wedding reception? I have a very large family but due to the budget, size of a church we love and us wanting our ceremony to be about the start of our life together, not the extravagence of the wedding, we have chosen to have a small wedding ceremony and sit down meal. We also do not see many members of the family very often so would prefer to have our closest relatives around us. The way we have chosen the guests is to list the people we visit regularly and have a good relationship with and the people that we can talk to at any time about anything. This is not about likes and dislikes but the longing for a small intimate wedding about our love. In a bit of a compromise we have chosen to have a large wedding reception on the evening with everyone we know invited. Once this idea was voiced, my parents will not listen to us and say that I either invite everyone in the family or no one. Can anyone help with this? Do I sound really selfish for wanting this wedding? Any advise would be great. Thank you
The first wedding ceremony? I recently heard somebody say, "Jesus performed the first wedding ceremony." It didn't occur to me then, but the only thing I've ever read in the Bible about Jesus and a wedding was when He turned water into wine. I don't think He performed that ceremony, and from what I understand the custom of a "wedding" was already pretty established by that time. Is there something I don't know? Also, if Jesus didn't perform the first wedding ceremony, does any body know the origins of having a ceremony?
Wedding Ceremony Help!? So I'm getting married soon and all my decisions that are left are just the details part, like songs and such. So I'm wondering if any brides out there (past or present) or just anyone who’s been to a wedding that wants to help, can help me decide on some things: 1) I need help with picking a Bible verse out for the wedding. I'm looking for something different that hasn’t been read at every other wedding ever preformed like, “Love is patient, Love is kind”, you know the ones I’m talking about, they’ve been read in most all wedding and in most all movies. 2) I'm also thinking of maybe having someone read a poem, that’s if I don't pick two Bible verses. What are poems you think are wedding appropriate that are just really beautiful and are all about love and stuff? Something like, "I Carry Your Heart" by E.E. Cummings. 3) What songs would be good to be sung during the wedding ceremony, my sister and cousin are going to sing a duet and I want some good ideas for songs.
Wedding ceremony to reception? I just became engaged and have started thinking about how I would like our wedding to play out. What we'd really like to do is have a small wedding ceremony and then a large reception. We would like them on the same day but have about 30 more people at the reception because our church can only accommodate so many. How could we make this work? Would we have a few hours between the ceremony and the reception so that there's no overlapping or right after another. The reception would be at a different location than the wedding. yes, the church is very small. it can only hold about 60 people and our guest list is approx. 120
Wedding Ceremony Time? I am having an outdoor wedding ceremony on June 7th. Sunset is scheduled for 7:56pm that day. I don't want my guess to be sitting in a hot blazing sun, but I don't want to start the ceremony to late because we have a lot of out of towners. I was thinking a time between 4pm and 5pm would be nice. I do NOT want an extremely formal wedding and I want my photographs to come out nice as well, what is your suggestion on a time. I"m open I initially wanted a sunset garden wedding but 7:00 is WAYYYY to late.
Wedding ceremony dilemma...which part of the country?? My fiancee' and I are planning our wedding but are having a hard time deciding where to have the wedding. Most all of his family is from the New Jersey/Pennsylvania area while ALL of my family and friends are in Texas. My dad (who is performing the ceremony) is a pastor licensed in Texas and we could use his church for free which is a big plus for having it in Texas. But if we did that that means that it's all his family that has to travel. We also are faced with another dilemma. His family expects there to be alcohol and dancing at the wedding while mine expects there to not be. We've discussed having a SMALL, very private ceremony and then having a Texas reception and a NJ/PA reception. Anyone have any ideas/suggestions??? THANKS!!! :)
Typical Wedding Ceremony 'agendas'? So, I'm getting married in August aboard a cruiseship which means the majority of the wedding planning is done by the cruiseline. However, we need to decide if we want anything special done at our ceremony. Having only ever been to one or two weddings in my life, I really don't have any idea how a typical wedding ceremony goes...the order of events. Would appreciate a clear vision of what I can expect (keeping in mind I do realize all ceremonies are different, I just want a description of a typical wedding). Thanks a million!!
Beach Wedding Ceremony Questions..Thank You in Advance for answering =]? Hello, My name is Mia & I am plannin' a beach wedding ceremony with the reception immediately afterwards. I'm plannin' on starting the wedding ceremony at perhaps 4:30PM & I think it will probably last 30 minutes. I want a photo session with the bridal party straight after..What I want to know is, since we're not gettin' into a limo to go to the reception..(as the reception is only 10 mins walk from the ceremony venue).. Is it silly for the groom & I to be walking back down the 'aisle' and stoppin' to wait for the photo session? What ideas do you have? And what ideas for activities etc should I have for the guests while the bridal party are having photo sessions.. I also want to include the other guests in the photo session..but not immediately though..maybe the last few shots..how do I word that on the intinerary/program? I am also worried about the 'interaction' between the guests on the evening as they will all be strangers to each other..any ice breaker tips?
hmmmm religious wedding ceremony? My family are very religious and my fiance's family are atheist.? My fiance & I have been living together for over 5 years. My family knows this & accept it as my choice. My father is a minister & will be doing our ceremony on our wedding day.He has sent us 3 wedding ceremonies to choose from; one heavily scriptural & religious, one sort of middle ground with one or two prayers and the rest poetry, etc, and the third is pretty much a ceremony with no mention of God accept in 1 or 2 spots. The problem is my fiance likes none of them cuz they mention God. He feels he's being a hippocrite cuz neither he nor his family R religious. I think it's fair & normal to have the 2nd ceremony (middle ground, a couple of prayers for my family's sake, but not scriptural) but he wants no mention of God. I am torn. I don't mind either way, I'm not religious but grew up that way so don't have a problem. I feel like I'm comprimising more since my fam would love a scriptural cermony and I think the 2nd choice is perfect with fairness to both sides. What should we do? Thanks everyone for your input. Just FYI the wedding is on a beach, not in a church. I should've mentioned that. And no, I am not religious but I am not atheist either.
Wedding Ceremony site in NJ? I will not be having the ceremony in a church and I don't wish to have it at the reception's location I plan on getting married in May of 09 and I am in search of a beautiful place to have a ceremony and take pictures I prefer a place that caters to inside AND outside ceremonies (in case of rain) - help anyone? The wedding will be somewhat informal - buffet style Rodizio food...simple yet classy - guest list of 100 people or less the reception will be in Newark - so anything within the North Jersey area would be GREAT
Small private wedding ceremony or Justice of Peace?? My first, his second, already living together @ 5 years. He just proposed two days ago, truly caught me off guard! I guess we both figured we would some day, but we didn't talk about it much. We have been already living together for nearly 5 years, he has two children we have on weekends (11 & 13), I have none. We are both in our mid 30's and don't want a lot of fuss, nothing elaborate or expensive. We do want some sort of reception/party with family and friends - simple and not costly. Here's some of the differences we need to figure out. The main issue is if we are going to have a wedding ceremony or just a private ceremony with a JP. He is very self-concious about his hair loss over the last several years and doesn't want a lot of people or pictures as is normal with a wedding ceremony, I can respect that. I am fine with a very small wedding, with a larger reception guest list. But this is my 1st and I want to have a memorable experience. Havent told my parents yet, I know my dad would miss walking me down the aisle. Any ideas? Is it unheard of or bad manners for the groom to wear a hat during a ceremony? We are not the traditional type - we like to be unique and fun. Could this be an option for us? Anyone have any suggetions? I would like to have the ceremony outdoors, we love the wilderness and nature. Will a JP have to be in a courthouse, or can we have the ceremony where we want? All in all we want to keep things as simple and non stressful as possible. Cost is a large factor. We want to at least have a modest reception for family and close friends - nothing large, just larger than the wedding ceremony. That's why we were thinking on just going in front of the JP then having a reception for everyone. I just don't want to leave anyone feeling left out with the actual ceremony. And I would like to still feel it is a special day, not just eloping. FYI - he is a man of many hats - he wears them all the time. He feels bare without one. He has also been married before so a large wedding isn't important to him. Simple appeals to me too. This is why I brought up the hat issue above.
Wedding Ceremony Venues in San Jose CA? Hello All!! I need to find a place to have my wedding ceremony in or around San Jose, CA. I will be having my wedding in February, so I need an indoor venue in case it rains. My fiance and I are not catholics, so we cannot have our ceremony in a catholic church. But any other non-denominational church will work as long as it's pretty. And it doesn't have to be a church either, anywhere i can rent for a little while to say my vows will do. Thanks!!!

Wedding Ceremony Songs? My wedding and reception are going to be held at a center that I'm renting. I need some good ideas for wedding ceremony songs. My cousin is going to sing for the ceremony but I dont know what song to get her to sing. I'm going to get her to sing while I walk down the aisle. So I need alot of good ideas.
Wedding ceremony or simple elope honeymoon? I have never been the one to plan my wedding like all of my other friends have done. I know it will stress me out--the details and the cost! I want to elope and spend money on a romantic honeymoon getaway--focusing on us, not the ceremony. He wants a huge ceremony / reception and all of his 12,000 relatives. How can we compromise! I DO NOT WANT TO WORRY ABOUT A WEDDING!!! It's about love I say! We can't afford it, either! Peer pressure!

Wedding Ceremony in Snohomish County WA? I rented a place for my wedding and reception in Snohomish WA. Then after thinking about it I realized the venue probably would not work well for the ceremony (to small not enough room outside were we planned it) So now I am looking for somewhere to have the ceremony and then just have the reception at the venue we have chosen. I thought about the evergreen arboretum has anyone had a ceremony there and also have looked into a couple churches. If anyone has suggestions let me know on a very tight budget.
Wedding Ceremony location only in Riverside County,CA? Does anyone know of any wedding ceremonly only locations in riverside or at least close to riverside CA? I would love to have an outdoor wedding in a gazebo or in a garden. I want something simple yet nice. Im trying to save major $$ so I plan on having the ceremony somewhere nice but affordable and then the reception will be at a family members house in Corona, CA. The reason for the ceremony being in Riverside is because of the reception location. i don't want my guests driving all over the place. PLEASE HELP!!!
Wedding ceremony and reception sites in Dallas, TX? Does anyone know of any nice, but inexpensive wedding ceremony and reception sites in the Dallas, Plano, Mckinney, Richardson, or Wylie, TX area? Anything decent I have found so far is over $1,000.00 to rent. Toooooo much! My wedding is in December, so outdoors isn't an option, and I plan on having around 150 guests. I already know about the theknot.com and have done many google searches, but the interenet is turning out to be a horrible resource for finding wedding cites. Thank you for your help. Any info is very much appreciated.
2nd wedding ceremony for Christians? Is it OK to have a 2nd wedding ceremony? My husband and I were married in a very nice small ceremony with some close family and friends to witness it. We were considering maybe having a bigger one when we are more financially secure...is that wrong? Would God be mad at that? I mean, we are already married, so we don't need to the extra ceremony...
Baptist Wedding Ceremony? During the actual ceremony before the vows, where in the bible does the pastor usually read from? My co-worker told me its something from 1 Corinthians about love. Does anyone know what passage he's talking about?? If not, what did you have read at your wedding? We're meeting with the pastor after church this sunday to go over the ceremony, and i want to know ahead of time what might be spoken at my wedding. so i'd like to do my research. thank you for your answers!
Wedding Dilemma - What to do with the guests between ceremony and reception? So here's my situation - my wedding is on a Saturday next July, and I have booked both the church and the reception location. Both locations are PERFECT. Here's the problem - it's a big Catholic church, and there are masses on Saturdays at 5:15. The options for a wedding ceremony is 11 am and 2pm due to the mass. Problem is, the reception location won't allow anything to start until 6pm. That means the cocktail hour starts at 6pm. The drive between the two locations is about 20-30 minutes, provided there is only light traffic on the way there. I plan on having the receiving line at the church after the ceremony is over (they have a great location for it) and the ceremony will probably last about 30 minutes. So my question - if the ceremony starts at 2 and the reception at 6, am I supposed to provide something for the guests to do in between? I'm also working with a VERY limited budget, and the wedding theme itself is casual/semiformal-ish. Any help is appreciated!
Wedding Ceremony Music? I'm having a hard time deciding between traditional ceremony music and modern music. What are some popular songs you can suggest for my wedding ceremony?
wedding ceremony in green bay wi? I am getting married on sept 13th and I am looking for a place to have my wedding ceremony. I am on a budget so I dont have a lot of money to pay for the ceremony. Any help would be great. update! the reception is at colonial house in freedom.
Wedding ceremony ideas? We originally wanted the wine ceremony ~ but our wedding will (weather willing!) be outdoors & I am super clumsy ~ to big a chance that a big gust of wind or my shaking hands will spill the wine on my dress, so that idea is out. My fiancé likes the sand ceremony, but I don't really care for it. Neither of us wants the unity candle, rose, or handfasting. Does anyone else have any ideas? Seen anything especially different or nice? We aren't religious, so anything with religious overtones is out, but other wise we are open to suggestion. Normally, I pick a best answer ~ but no one answered my question. The salt ceremony is *just like* the sand ceremony... and I already mentioned that we don't want the rose ceremony. Moon, we did speak w/each other about this. What does that have to do with the question? Soon to be Mrs. if we had any ideas of our own, we wouldn't have posted the question here ;) And finally, while harp music is very nice it really doesn't answer the question. Again, no one actually answered the question, so I am leaving this one up to the voters. Thanks, anyway...
Wedding ceremony HELP!!? I have never been to a wedding ceremony only to a few receptions. I have no idea what is done. Can someone please tell me? What happens start to finish? I was thinking it takes only 15-20 min then someone told me it was almost a hour. I do NOT want that long of a ceremony 30 min max! I really don't know anything but what I see on T.V. (do you take this women thing.) THANKS EVERYONE IN ADVANCE!
Wedding ceremony and party on the same day? I'm getting married early next year and am having trouble figuring out which days to have what and when.... Here's the issue.... We basically have a week to do everything, my fiance is in the army and they're not giving us much time to do things. We're having a wedding ceremony at a church on Saturday morning around where I live. Most of his family lives about 45 minutes to an hour away. I was thinking of having the ceremony up in my neighborhood around my family and then driving down to his area after for the reception. Do you think this would be messy? I'm worried about having everyone driving up and then back down all in the same day. I need some opinions and advice... Thanks!
Wedding ceremony rituals? im looking for not so common wedding ceremony rituals. we are both non christan faith (im not sure of the correct wording sorry) and we have been to weddings which had a unity candle lighting & the sand ceremony but i was just wondering if anyone knows any less common rituals that are similar? i would really appreciate any ideas
Formal attire at wedding ceremony, black tie at reception;help!!? I will be attending a wedding at The Four Seasons in early July. The invitation states "Formal attire" for the ceremony (will be held at 1:00 p.m.) and the reception "Black Tie" at 7:00 p.m. So I was wondering if that means I should get two outfits? Or can I wear the same dress to the wedding ceremony and then to the reception? I know black tie usually means long dress, but I am petite and long dresses make me look shorter. Any ideas?? Should I get a dress for the ceremony and then change into a more black tie one for the reception? I mean the men are going to have to change, from a suit into a tux, so...your thoughts?
Wedding ceremony/reception sites in NH? I am searching for the perfect wedding ceremony/reception site for my 6/2008 wedding. Does anyone have any ideas for locations that are reasonably priced in NH? Thank you!!!
Wedding Ceremony Music....Beethoven yes? no? I'm planning a wintery themed wedding and have a couple questions about what you all thought about the following two songs for the ceremony. We want unexpected, non-traditional music, but I also don't want to weird out my guests with my song selections! For the wedding party to walk down to: Danny Elfman's Ice Dance. For me to walk w/ my dad: Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata. Do these two songs seem to work well together? Is Moonlight Sonata too depressing sounding for the guests (I happen to find it beautiful, but...)? Also, any suggestions for the recessional, that would work well with these two? Thanks a bunch!! Ok, so I am def. keeping Ice Dance, but am rethinking Moonlight Sonata...how about the theme from Cirque du Solei "O." I'd only use the first minute of it (I hope it only takes that long to walk down the aisle), b/c I'd like to cut it off before the drum starts. Thanks for all the feedback!!
Wedding Ceremony Question? In a wedding Ceremony, do the groomsmen walk down the aisle with the bridesmaids or do they wait at the front with the groom? My wedding is on a beach in just a few days!
where in a wedding ceremony would this song fit? my fiance and i are picking out songs for our wedding, and we're stuck on this one. it's called One i Love and it's sung by Meav, an irish singer. got her to hear it...it's track 11 http://www.artistdirect.com/nad/store/artist/album/0,,954321,00.html i'd like to put it in the ceremony somewhere, but i'm not sure where. we put together our ceremony form various sources, and it includes a handfasting, a quaich (we drink our first drink together..it's a scottish tradition) and a rose ceremony. however, most of our ceremony is talking. there's not really a quiet moment in it!! we might include a unity candle ceremony, and maybe it would fit in there, as we light the candles. but other than that i'm stuck.. we already know what the song i'll walk down the aisle to is, so it's not an option there. and most likely our processional will be an energetic irsh tune from Lunasa, our favourite band. if you have any ideas, please share them!! nvm about that link, it doesn't play the whole song, or work very well at all. *frown* here's a link to the lyrics... http://www.celticmeav.com/meavlyrics.html#onei too bad it won't work it sounds very pretty!
