What constitutes formal and informal or semi-formal weddings? I am having my wedding in a nice hotel and want? a sit down dinner and everybody to dress nice. Most things I see say this is a formal wedding. However, I don't want to wear a big huge formal wedding dress. It is nice but not with a ball gown. I also don't want to wear a veil. Does it really matter to stick to the rules? I mean I find the rules a little shady. What do I tell people to wear? What's your take on a casual wedding? My fiance and I were talking and we've decided we'd like to have a casual wedding where everyone wears their best clothes. I would get a nice pair or dress slacks and a nice sweater and he would get a nice pair of slacks and dress shirt or a suit. If he gets a suit he'll get one from Goodwill. I'll have my bridesmaids wear either black dresses or black slacks and a black sweater (their choice) and they can wear one from their closet so that they are comfortable. The groomsmen can wear their best slacks and button up shirt with a black tie (we'll buy the ties). We'll do pretty bouquets and bouts and in colors of red, brown, and orange with accent colors of gold and green. We'll invite around 60 people to our wedding with some simple invitations and have something like a Thanksgiving feast. What's your take on this? How would you feel if you were a guest at this wedding? What other ideas can you give me? And no, I do not want to get an informal wedding dress. There is no point in spending that much money on a dress I will only wear once. I'm not going to wear white as it is not at all my style. I'd get it messy somehow. And my fiance says that he doesn't mind. We talked about the practicality of me getting a wedding dress and we both agree that we would rather put the money towards something else.

Flower girl dresses? Two of the main colors I'm using are light purple and white. I'm having an outdoor wedding ceremony, most likely in a garden. My dress (which hasn't been chosen as of yet) will be a white "informal wedding dress". I'm going to ask my MOH to wear a light purple dress of her choosing. (there aren't any other bridesmaids) We will be having two flower girls. One is the MOH's daughter and the other is my fiance's little cousin. I was thinking of having them wear cotton sundresses. What would you wear to a very informal wedding? My hubby's uncle is getting married in a couple weeks and, since it's the second marriage for both of them they wanted something very casual and informal. It will be outdoors at a family farm and they have said its extremely casual, no ties allowed, and wear comfy shoes. I have a nice light white and blue flowery skirt and a pretty sleeveless blouse that i'd like to wear but i'm not sure if i'd be over dressed. I am of the opinion that even though it's to be very casual, it is still a wedding so you should look decent. What do you think? Am i overdoing it? I don't care that my outift has white in it. The no white rule is usually for something thats completley or almost totally white. Patterns that have some white in addition to other colors are no big deal. I wore the same black and white dress to a couple different weddings, and a white top with a black skirt to another, and nobody cared. I didn't particularily care if people wore something with white in it to my wedding last year either.

However, I'm worried about what my family will say. I'm very old fashioned and so is my family. Is it ok to mix formal and informal in a wedding? My sister is getting married at the end of september. It will be an outdoor ceremony(weather permitting). She would like to have as elegant a wedding as her tight budget will allow. The groom will NOT wear a tux or suit, he's wearing wranglers and a button up, short-sleeved shirt, as will the 6 ushers. However all 6 of the bridesmaids are expected to buy a $200 dress and matching dyed shoes we won't ever wear again. Is it wrong to think that it's not going to look right together?

Wedding DRESS issues!? I have my heart set on a very small, intimate beach wedding. (IF I had my way our parents wouldn't even be invited! and we'd elope somewhere gorgeous!) Anywhooo... as it will be a beach wedding I want an informal knee length dress, oh, and HAS to be white. BUT... I can't seem to find any designs anywhere. They're all too weddingy! (If you know what I mean!) I want something flowing and casual that can be worn around the candle-lit pool... sigh... dreamy! PLEASE HELP!

Should I use a teal or a coral colored sash for my wedding gown? I am getting married on Hanalei Bay, Kauai, on the beach. I love both colors and hubby's shirt will be the color (or mostly) of my sash. This is an informal wedding for the most part, but I had to have my dream dress. My fiancee will look good in and has agreed to wear either color....

Where can i get bright,more that 1 color,informal bridesmaid dresses that would look right 4 a tropical wedd? My wedding is in july and it is going to be a tropical wedding. I need some bridesmaids dresses that are bright but more than one color. I don't want them to be flashy or elegant. I prefer light blue dresses. I would love for there to be another color incorporated into it. light pink, orange, or something like that would be wonderful. Even a flower print would be fine. but if it is a print, i don't want it to be little prints, i want it to be big prints and i don't want it to cover the whole dress. I once seen some bridesmaid dresses that were a light bright blue, almost aqua and that had a light pink rose underneath and in the center of the bosoms. they were beautiful. I do like simplicity. Like i said I want them to be INformal. Please help me!!!!!!!!

Bridesmaid dress as wedding dress? My fiancee and I are having an informal wedding, so I don't want to wear a traditional wedding dress. I've found some bridesmaids dresses that I like in white, but when I go into the store to check them out, should I let the sales person know that I would be using it as a wedding dress? I'm afraid that she/he wouldn't allow me to buy a bridesmaids dress for a wedding rather than purchasing one of their bridal gowns.

Casual wedding dress help please? I am having a hard time with searching for "casual wedding dresses" or "casual wedding attire"...so many spam and crap sites! I will be married next spring in AZ, very casual (my second wedding) and want informal but classy...any help would be appreciated!

What shoul I wear to a (informal) afternoon wedding? Two of my friends are getting married this afternoon and I'm going to the wedding at 3 and reception at 6. I'm wondering what is most appropriate to wear? It's a small wedding at a local church. They invited people by putting up a web page and emailing guests or telling them personally. It's focused on the happy event, not strict rituals. This is both's second marriage and they have already been together a few years and have a baby. What would be appropriate from the following choices? Suits: gray or black Sport coats: camel hair (and colored) or grayish-brown one with tan flecks. For pants/slacks: Those that go with my suits (black, gray), a tan wool pair, and pairs in microfiber or cotton in khaki, blue, black, gray, light green, brown. Dress shirts: white and pretty much every solid color, some stripes, some white collar colored shirt. It's 53 degrees here so I'm thinking my warm and comfortable camel hair blazer. Is this appropriate? Advice on attire or for pairing it?

One more thing about renewing? i am renewing my vows is it still ok to wear a white informal wedding dress just the dress not the full wedding gear

The ring.... Can I...? Getting married for the second time....Want a ring that I saw at the local jewelers. It is around $800.00. Well, the thing is...my first time around I had a yellow gold set. This one is white gold and I love it! So, should I just buy it and say "this is what I want. Here, make sure you don't loose it before the big day!" I was thinking just to have this one ring that is 3 stoned. Do you think it would hurt his feelings. We actually came to a mutual agreement to get married...it wasn't a big knee proposal thingy. We just don't want to make a big deal of things. Is this all wrong? Second ? 4 u......The wedding is going to be beside a waterfall....What would you wear? I was thinking maybe a short tea length informal wedding dress...something spunky...nothing with a train & what not. Help me......any advice would be great! well, I would go and show him but I am too shy to do that. Short Wedding dress? I'm planning my wedding for January 2009. I know it's a winter wedding, but I just love the idea of a short wedding dress.
